Dominican Restaurant Merienda reviews
11Great place overall. Only negative was the language barrier: no employees in-restaurant knew English (they are Spanish), but we ended up on the phone with a man who knew English and suggested their popular dishes including primarily steak and chicken. I had grilled chicken and it was falling right off the bone; super juicy and very well seasoned! The rice was okay, but mixed with baked beans, it came to life. There was egg salad too. I dont really like egg salad in general (bias on my behalf), but others said it was great. Awesome food, cool little atmosphere, and very helpful staff who managed to work around our barrier. Definitely plan to return!
NO ONE SHOULD EVER HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THIS RESTAURANT. BEST FOOD, SERVICE G THE OWNER IS THE BEST WITH A PLATINUM HEART
The Owner is a little rude when answering questions, maybe because she is a rural woman from the DR and you are not used to talking to educated human beings.
Bad business they forgot part of my order so I paid to not receive part of my order so they kept my money my food very upset what a steal
Excellent. I found it by word of mouth, went back after a few days and plan for a 3rd time very soon. The owner is very nice and treats the place like her home and you're a guest at her kitchen table. The Dominican auntie we didn't know we had. Her English is fine just heavily accented, so the language barrier is no problem even though I don't speak Spanish. I honestly don't know what we've eaten, but I ask her to make us plates and she whips something up at a very reasonable price. My fav has been the chicken and yellow rice.
The owner it’s the sweetest person I’ve ever meet. I’ve been there twice just because it’s a little out my way for a daily lunch.
Food was authentic. The pattern was great. The thing about businesses like this is, if the food was bad it wouldn't last long. New Yorkers love their food.

So nobody speaks English here. We don’t speak Spanish, so they refused to serve us. They made us wait for 20 min, tho. Not a good place.
Ordered on grubhub and was given a completely different order. No redelivery offered; just a refund.
Felt like home. Owner was very friendly and took good care of me and my wife. Portion was big and everything tasted delicious. She really took good care of us and gave us extra stuff to eat. We really enjoyed our stay here. Definitely worth the ride to Washington Heights from the City to eat here. We loved it!
First class service from Ms. Caridad "La Negra" is Her nickname. Nice portion, tasty food and reasonable prices.
