Mile End Delicatessen reviews
19That chicken sandwich is pretty good if I do say so myself! And very reasonably priced for NYC. Check it out if you're in the area.
Great deli bridging two cuisines together perfectly; Jewish deli and Montreal specialities. Highly recommend the soup, latkes, sandwiches and poutines.
This place became our go-to for breakfast on our company retreat. Great service, super fast, and generous portions. Wish I had a place like this in San Diego. Angie is awesome!
Living within the greater New York City area, it’s tough to find authentically made French Canadian food unless you head up on I-87 towards Plattsburgh and into the Montreal region.
This place in Brooklyn manages to capture that feeling of being in a deli right within the streets of Montreal — minus all of the signs being completely in English!
I got the Classic Wilensky and Classic Poutine. They didn’t disappoint. The Wilensky sandwich was made just like the original sandwich at Wilensky’s in Montreal, although this one seemed a little more well cooked. The poutine was very much enjoyable with its fries and cheese curds.
If you’re looking any Canadian goodness “south of the border”, I highly recommend this place!
Food was mediocre. Worst part was service. Had to call the waiter every time. Got coffee and it was half full, when I asked for more he charged me double. To top it off the staff spilled water on me and they didnt give me a napkin or apologize until I asked. Never going back.
On the hunt for a pastrami sandwich on a Monday afternoon, we stumbled upon this unassuming spot.
The SPICY SCHNITZEL sandwich (chicken cutlet + harissa mayo on a brioche bun) was faultless and satisfying, while the SMOKED MEAT sandwich (beef brisket & mustard on rye) was generic. The orange juice was a bit of a disappointment to me because, for that price point, I had expected the freshly squeezed variety.
Final verdict – will be back to try out some of the other offerings that caught my eye.
It's the best poutine I've been able to find in NYC, the curds are nice and squeaky
Great deli in a cool neighbourhood. Sandwiches were well filled and the cured and smoked brisket was cooked and cut properly. The latkes were crisp and moist, and the pickles were, pickled.
Delicious. Amazing poutine in a city where it is really hard to find poutine. Coffee is good too, but the poutine was the stand out for me.
Great lunch, excellent corned beef Reuben. Juicy hot corned beef, kraut, dressing, swiss on Pumpernickel bread was delicious. Bagels with lox done right. Thank you! My food experience in Brooklyn is complete.
This hot dog had a great snap, was served on a toasted challah roll, and paired well with a mustard/relish combo. If you're in the area, it's pretty good but nothing to go out of your way for!
Unfortunately the matzo ball soup wasn’t very good. The matzo ball itself was not at all fluffy
Delicious food. Maybe the best chocolate babka and pigs in a blanket I ever had. The brisket is excellent and the 'jus' is a yummy sauce. Service was genuinely helpful when I needed to schedule my pick up. Nice people:) for sure.
Discovered this place years ago and is still a common stop even though I live in a different neighborhood now. Delicious.
Fatty expensive soggy sandwiches. I would call them blubber sandwiches. Don't waste your $50.00 on 2 sandwiches. Only Pigs would enjoy this food!
Just watched this on burgers, brews and ‘que and I’m so shocked that they let people cook so nasty. Chef Penny’s thumbnails were DISGUSTING, she wore no gloves while cooking and no hair net even though her hair was super long and pigtails and bangs hung in front of her body. Gross. Also after she breaded the chicken WITH HER BARE HANDS. She went on to touch the fryer handle and just dusted her hands after. Very gross. Will not be coming here specially after reading the other reviews about finding plastic in their sandwich. If this is what they show on tv can’t imagine what happens behind closed doors.
Pretty good but nowhere near Montreal poutine The bagels are decent. Spent a few weeks in Quebec, decided to try Mile end deli. It’s ok. Sort of like eating NY pizza in California. It’s fine but not the same.
Great food for celebrating Canada Day. Real poutine, smoked meat, bagels, maple sugar tarts… all great. Love this chill spot in Boerum Hill
Went to the mile end deli and was seriously disappointed. The chicken schnitzel looked like old freezer burned chicken breast. Rubbery and stringy. The poutine was eh with greasy meat topping. 30 bucks for a terrible experience
Montreal in Brooklyn. A great spot for lunch — I recommend the chicken schnitzel BLT— and, of course, the menu includes poutine, which you can’t find in Brooklyn very easily.
