Love the store & love their customer service. I had bought some fishes from monster & they died by the time I got home with them. It’s clearly stated that there’s no guarantee on lifestock, but I was really upset that I spend the money & they died by the time I got home. I reached out to the owners to let them know what had happened. To my surprise they offered to replace the fishes this time without any hesitation. To all the negative comments, if you take your time to nicely speak to the owners, they’ll take their time to acknowledge you & your concerns. Thank you John & Vivian

Large offering of aquarium pets and supplies, as well as a variety of aquatic plants. Staff is helpful while concise and did not attempt to upsell me on any of my visits. I picked out a fish that was missing an eye once and the girl did not hesitate in letting me know and offering another choice. They offer tempting bundle deals but make sure your aquarium can handle the bioload and wouldn't be overstocked.

Best aquarium shop in NYC. Nothing else comes close. Make sure to check out their basement and the backroom. Basement entrance is kinda hidden, so ask if you dont see it. They also do CO2 exchanges. Staff is extremely knowledgable.

I purchased ten parrots that were picked out for me at an amount that totaled 200…. After realizing the fish had ich I contacted the owner of the store (John) who sounded apologetic. He said he was sorry and that his worker should’ve have checked the fish. The next day I called again cause several fish died… I explained my frustration and said if any more fish die from this I would be coming back to the store. In the next two days all of the ten parrot fish were dead a result of ich. After not being able to reach John for several days I finally got in touch with him where his attitude changed for the worse. Telling me I’m wrong for not trying to save the fish…. While I was doing what I could to combat the ich in my heavily planted aquascape. After hearing that I was trying to fight the ich it seemed like he was going to do the right thing…. But changed again saying he can help me out as long as I say the right things as if trying to manipulate me. I said what he did was wrong in selling fish that were infected with ich and I wouldn’t change what I said to appease him for my refund. His response was to hang up on me…. I’ve been shopping here for a very long time but between this horrible interaction and the awful service from the young lady behind the counter monster aquarium has lost a customer for sure. Caution to all that frequent monster aquarium.

This is one of the few post pandemic aquarium shops that have a decent selection of fish and they are in the process of expanding. Well stocked with supplies as well. You can check their most recent arrivals on Facebook.

I'm an aquascape enthusiasts and this is definitely not a store to get exotic plants. But! I cannot deduct any points from them because that's not what they're going for. Exotic fish is their specialty and they do a great job at that. Kinda a spooky place, like a mad scientist laboratory.great staff

I’ve been in this store 2 days ago and the lady that served us was so nice, she give me and my husband some advice about the new Ranchu that we were introducing in our new tank. Beautiful store a lot of choices of fishes. Very happy that I found this store I’m no gonna buy fishes anywhere else. Thank you Monster aquarium and lady with the glasses!

This place has a very good selection of fish and lots of oddball fish. There were no dead fish in the fish tanks and the staff were quite knowledgeable on fish and were quick to answer on available stock. I did see some deformed fish in some tanks but overall the fish there were healthy and colorful. Prices were fair as well. I'd buy from this place again!

Bought all my fishes from here. These guys are really helpful. Today I bought a bottom feeder for my tank but it was picking fight with my other fishes in the tank and I called up monster aquarium and they where really helpful and I actually like that the fact they actually let me bring him back for an exchanged. Not a lot of fish stores do that.

UPDATE: i have no children and the owner said some really random things in response to my post which hey my dude sorry but wrong person.now i went there about 2 weeks ago on monday and the lady was cranky visibly but i asked anyways to see if i could purchase a puffer in which she huffed at me all while looking away.i felt appalled as to this and felt as they didn’t deserve my sale so i apologized and left to another retailer nearby.

Always a pleasure to stop by. All you can find and more. Not to many places like this around anymore. They also have reptiles keep on mind. 100 recommend stop by. Parking available in mall next to it (not free but not too expensive so saves you a walk if you purchase anything)

The lady at the front desk is absolutely horrible and rude. I asked her some question respectfully, and she was giving me the attitude just because I was not buying? Don’t go their if you do have another choice. By the way, the store was not busy and it was empty when I get there. The lady should probably get training on how to communicate with others before she works there.

Re: First, you recognized the wrong person, I came to the store by myself and I was not in rush. Secondly, when you guys received a poor review, the first thing you do is to find an excuse and transfer the problem to another. That’s the reason why you guys got lots of bad reviews. By the way, an excuse or a lie can not change the lady”s personality. Everybody better check the price online (like Amazon or eBay) first before you buy any equipment there. It might save you 50% or more. BTW just don’t go there anymore

Staff was actually fine not super rude! The fish selection is lit! The price is super fair I’ve seen far more expensive price on a fish in other store like 3x more pricey, so this store got fair price!

HORRIBLE SERVICE, IGNORANT OWNER/MANAGER. TOTAL CREEPS. THEY SELL ILLEGAL ANIMALS. I PURCHASED A 2" NORTHEASTERN BOX TURTLE ON 10/24/22 THESE TURTLES ARE ENDANGERED AND ARE ILLEGAL TO SELL OR POSSESS NO MATTER THE SIZE. THE ONLY REASON I PURCHASED THIS TURTLE WAS BECAUSE IT WAS BEING MISTREATED. NO WATER, IMPROPER FOOD. THEY DON'T EAT WATER PLANTS. AT THIS TENDER AGE THEY ONLY EAT INSECTS. GOING TO CONTACT THE PROPER AGENCY TO HAVE THEM LOOKED INTO AND SEND THEM A PICTURE OF THE BABY AFTER THIS IS POSTED.
I WOULDN'T PURCHASE A GOLDFISH FROM THEM NEVER MIND ANY OF THE ILLEGAL ANIMALS THEY HAVE STASHED AWAY OUT OF THE PUBLICS EYES. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CLASSLESS SELLERS OF ILLEGAL ANIMALS.

Good selection of fresh water animals including amphibians. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They have pretty much everything you need for aquascaping. Fish prices are actually some of the best I've seen in the entire NY area. Prices on other items are about average though. Still. I would certainly recommend this store to any aquarists

I have Bennett customer of them for years. I have purchased mostly MBU puffers from John. I am so very happy with him; the store and his fish. I am also happy with emergency services people he hooks me up with when I need it (“Neil”). It’s a wonderful place abd I have a 1000 gal tank filled with beautiful mbu puffers to prove it. His store is the best store in Queens without any Question.

Very, rude and disrespectful, they cheat people. Advice not go there they don’t have listen to you, bought a lot things that’s fake and please be careful, don’t fall for this trap and they over charged me. Not not business no standard values. No customer service and very rude and disrespectful people.

As a shrimp keeper, I'm always drawn to shops that sell them. It's usually better if I can get them locally than online if possible. This is my second visit to their store and have made purchases both times. They have a nice selection of neocaridina/caridina shrimps in the second room. I was also surprised they have more exotic shrimps like atya gabonensis (vampire shrimps). I was very happy that the store owner was able to accommodate my specifications when purchasing. Shrimps were all healthy and lively. Will definitely visit again, thanks!

Edit: to store reply, I was at the store. There was a chubby male store clerk and a female clerk. Both clueless on aquirium thank lighting equipments and filter sizes. Please do not make up lies in reply. Why would I call when I am 10 mins walking distance away. Terrible experience. And we communicated in Mandarin too!

This place just keep getting better and better everyday. The owner John just keeps it coming. Oddball master for sure. The staff is really nice too especially Ivan the big Taiwanese guy, really cool guy to talk to and have a lot of experience with reptile and fish. Flushing Chinese community is so lucky to have them here
