Zero Stars. This place is a death sentence. A total lack of care for patients. There are several well trained nurses on staff to be fair, but a total lack of any experienced doctors. I’ve never seen a hospital with so few doctors working there, and the ones that do just give off this total sense of apathy. My grandfather with dementia broke his hip and was in their rehab unit for 3 weeks. We found new facilities to send him to, but they said they wouldn’t accept him because he was under tele-monitoring because he tried to get up and move because he can’t remember that his hip is broken; however, the place they dumped him in just down the road has 2 nurses on staff looking over 100 beds. We asked them if he was receiving tele-monitoring and they had no idea what that was. This hospital lies to its patients and their families while providing the cheapest, bare-minimum in care. Never let your loved ones be admitted here, it’s worth going further distance if that’s an option for you.

Get there at 3: 40pm with may husband for several pain we get into a room in the ER at 5: 20 and wait in the room more then hour when I ask for help the nurse simply said “our health provider is helping 5 room at the time, just give him a minuto” what is this supposed to mean is only one Dr.in the ER that’s insane after that we still waiting for 1 more hour to be seen and I’m ask for his on discharge…be honest this place need more DR. Back in 2019, I left a horrible review based on the level of care received at South Nassau Hospital and vowed to never return. Well, a few weeks ago, I ended up having to go after experiencing what was thought to be a life threatening event. My husband ended up taking me there and I must say, the care I received was near excellent. While I cannot retract my 2019 review, the care experience and medical attention received in 2023 deserves a better review!

It’s my pleasure to be writing this review on behalf of all the medical professionals at South Nassau Mount Sinai who supported my family following my mother’s recent stroke. From her intake into the emergency room, her surgery, all the way to her recovery and out the patient care— my mother has received life saving care and attention. Words cannot express our gratitude to the talented medical professionals who managed her case and the amazing nursing staff who monitored her and kept her comfortable these past several weeks. Noteworthy, was the exceptional quality of communication between the staff and my family who guided us through every step of the process, even as my mother’s circumstances changed from day to day. The south shore of Long Island is fortunate that the team at South Nassau Mount Sinai is assembling a powerful team of people who are committed to supporting stroke victims and their families.

Do not like this place. They didn’t let me stand outside for 5 minutes while my mom was brought downstairs. Meanwhile there is so much room AND they had other cars there parked (engine off) no one in them

Complete lack of professionalism from intake personnel in the ER.
Whole computer system went down which delayed any care for anyone in the er. (Wasn’t there fault, but could have been handled better)
Blood and gauze laid on the floor for 1.5hrs with the nurses pointing it out and complaining, but never getting someone to clean it.
Staff made sure to make jokes with one another about 2 people leaving from the extended wait. 2 nurses at triage were giving each other tips on how to bypass logging info they received from patients if they FELT it was an exaggeration. Every single person at shift change yesterday early evening made it very known they didn’t want to be there and it was going to be a terrible night.
ER doctor was condescending and didn’t seem like he really wanted to listen to your problem.
The only good part about this hospital was their phlebotomist and transport person. They were great and extremely sweet and caring.
I do NOT recommend going here in an emergency. There is a complete lack of urgency from everyone. You’re better off somewhere else.

Came with my 82 year old friend who fractured her lateral tibial. 8 hours so far in the er and the orthopedist, who was promised around 6 30, still hasn't arrived. We have an elderly woman in severe pain and no one to attend to her. The staff is nice enough but taking care of patients needs in a timely or efficient or professional manner is clearly of no concern to this sad excuse for a health care facility. 4 hours after posting that we are still in this morass. 10 and a half hours so far and still no end in sight

My sister was admitted with fluid in the lung. No lab results were ever shared with her A chest tube was inserted to relieve the fluid. A biopsy revealed tumors in the lung. She was sent home with a tube for drainage
And instructed to call the surgeon in a week. BUT was given no bandages or dressings for the incisions
NO instructions on what to do with the fluid that was being drained from the lung. Complete incompetence in the manner of discharging a patient with needs of further care

First class operation from the nurses to the doctors. Treat patients well from check in to recovery to release. Today was Nurses Day too when I had my procedure done for kidney stones. Highly recommend!

It’s true what Nassau said! Ava was so disrespectful to the patients and their loved ones. Couldn’t be bothered. Sat there laughing and joking for hours while all the other nurses worked to help patients. She just kept distracting the other workers by acting silly and expecting them to “keep her company” The supervising nurse condoned this behavior.

They took over Mt. Sinai's medical school and against medical advice took over a hospital setting and keep people pretending to be doctors or want-to-helpers working for South Nassau and stole so much from so many, including sanity regarding how to get to and from this place

Avoid. Make the drive to CCMC for a child; make the drive anywhere else for an adult. Botched ED experience and botched surgery that led to complications for child. Subpar training for residents, lack of communication, absent attendings and hospitalists. And before MSSN responds with the "we're sorry and we'll pass on your concerns" nonsense - a 3-page letter outlining all the ways you need to improve services, how you botched the case; and ways you failed to communicate, respond to parental concerns, and adequately do hands-on training for residents is on it's way to the entire board, administration, and clinical leadership. This is a ZERO start review.

My sister has been getting constant migraines for a week. She went to this hospital… waited for 2 hrs and she still wasn’t getting called. There were people that came after her that got called before her. The nurse said they were calling people up by severity. I personally think that’s unfair since her headaches can be serious. Ever since I was a kid the wait has always been horrible. That’s why I stopped going to that hospital and treat myself at home if I ever have the flu or a fever. Don’t go there you’re just wasting your time, going by severity is uncalled for especially since you don’t exactly know what’s wrong with them.

The medical record deparrtment is a travesty. It takes 5 months to get any medical records. They claim to transfer you and hang up. I am also convinced they actively misspells patient information in said records. Do not use the medical provider if you want proper documentation and care.

Great hospital doctors and nurses. They have done a great job saving my daughter and grandchild. Very good treatment. Nurses are very nice to patients and family. I want to thank them all so much, for being so caring for my daughter and her baby.
Thank you.

I'm writing this review while still admitted here, everyone has been so friendly, concerned and interactive with me. My room was clean, and they stood on top of everything, would definitely recommend coming here.
