I went here to give birth because my midwife office partnered with this hospital and it was absolutely horrible. I have never experience medical negligence before my visit but i quickly found out after being in labor for 7 hours and no access to a delivery room. I arrived at 8pm, there were no nurses but this one poor nurse running around, the lady in the room next to me GAVE BIRTH in the triage room. I labored in the triage until 2am with no access to an epidural, the only reason i got a room was because my midwife forced me into a room. At one point my contractions were so bad and i went to use the bathroom and i had such a bad contraction that i peed on the floor, within that pee there was blood, the nurses told me “that’s normal”. It was not normal.i also had preeclampsia and i was not being monitored whatsoever. NO ONE came into the triage room to check on me, i sent my partner out to ask for an update over five times at least, each time he went out there was no nurse at the station, and he would wait and wait and still no nurse. This isn’t even the worst of it, i went to 9CM AND 2+ WITH NO EPIDURAL OR ACCESS TO AN EPIDURAL. I told the nurses that i was in excruciating pain and needed an epidural and a room, every time i asked them they said it could be hours. At one point the nurse told me there’s a room open but they were saving it for someone who was more emergent. I WAS 9CM ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH and on top of that, within all those hours NO ONE did a cervix check on me.when i was put into a room the triage nurse came in and was said “i didn’t know you were 9cm you were so quiet” are you kidding me? I will never EVER recommend this hospital to anyone, im 20 years old and was told by my midwife to look into a doula because of the fact that i’m so young and also a minority that i may run into medical negligence but i had no idea it would be to this extent. However i will say my labor was great, because of my midwife and the nurse there, i pushed my daughter out in 30 minutes. The postpartum stay was also good, there were a few nurses that i would ask things and then they would never come back and i would have to ask multiple nurses but i did have this one nurse that was amazing.i was there from tuesday-thursday and this nurse was there for the entire night time of my stay, she was amazing, i believe her name was kristen or christina but she was an angel. Anything i asked she always came back with and if she didn’t have an answer to my question she would bring in someone with an answer. The food actually was decent and overall my stay was good, just labor and delivery triage was so horrible that i will never ever even think of going back to this hospital.

How do you schedule someone for prenatal induction and never call the actual patient being scheduled? I had to call few different numbers to get an answer. I found out last minute about my appointment, I was scheduled for my induction. I wasn’t able to reach anyone to reschedule or to be able to change the time or date. So far, it hasn’t been good to me, for a first time mom. I will see what happens in the next couple of days.

Please DO NOT do PRENATAL CARE here. They barely respond to messages and to get through with them is basically impossible! There's not an easy way to get in contact with your provider, and if you send a message, they take at least 2 days to reply. My last message took 1 whole week! Very DISAPPOINTING. And if you call the office and leave a message with the person who answers, the message never gets to the provider, it's a waste of time. Great care for us pregnant women who go through so much! I will be looking for another provider.

So I went into the E. R.today after I cut my finger working. I'm a Carpenter. The waiting room chairs were covered in dry blood. This was 730 am in the morning. Dry Streaks all down the armrests. I was the only one there. I was treated by a Fahmida Patwari MD who was obviously practicing on me. Lucky for her I'm a great Guinea Pig.

I would like to give big Thank you to the folks in the CCU at Mount Sinai West! They took very good care of my father during his stay there and they are the best with taking care of their patients, thanks for all you have done!

When my children were small and this hospital was still called Roosevelt Hospital we named it Sophia's Hospital because I was constantly in the emergency room with thing 2; that child broke everything.

Now, we should re-baptize it as the Guzman Hospital because my mother and her children are here every week.

This place is terrible the worse hospital I have seen in my life it is not well kept the rooms were the patients are not clean it is very old from the 1800 the doctors in residency are not experienced specially the doctors in cardiology they give too much medication too much anticoagulants without. MONITORING the patients even an hospital in third world countryis better the patient kept bleeding and still give give him the same medication it is a shame to have this type of hospital in the USA even the hospital in France are better equipped than this mou t sinai west

I was disconnected 4 times in a row after calling in 4x consecutively to try and speak with a patient. If they can't even answer the phones properly I'd never trust them in any capacity with taking care of their patients. Go elsewhere where it's more professional.

Last week 8/15, I accompanied an elderly neighbor, former ballet teacher, (who had trouble breathing only when she tried to lay down). She had an EKG then we waited for over an hour in a freezing cold individual waiting room. The nurse took blood, a covid test & then walked us over to another place for a chest X-ray. I asked what we should do after the X-ray. She said, ‘Her Dr.will get the results’.

We went to her GP 8/21. He told us the hospital report said she has covid AND that she signed herself out. I was able to tell him I WAS with her! She didn’t sign herself out! No one told us she had COVID!

My God! They dismissed an 87 year old woman - with COVID & didn’t tell her AND sent her home with all the EKG magnets still stuck to her!
There should be an advocate who explains protocol to patients!

My dad is hospitalized right now and I’m writing this review because I don’t even know how to handle the frustration I feel. To start with, they failed to give him an important medication for his dementia since the day he arrived even though I gave them a full medication list, and they already had that list in the system anyhow since his internist is with Mt Sinai. When the mistake was discovered it took some arguing and needling on my part to get them to administer the medication as soon as possible, because sudden withdrawal from that medication can cause intense hallucinations, which he has been having. That’s horrifying enough but there are also other issues as well. He was on the 9th floor when he arrived and I asked that he be moved to the window after his roommate was discharged. They said possibly - then didn’t do it, and when I asked why the answer just seemed to be along the lines of “too much hassle”. Now we are paying $600 a night for a private room, and the food orders each night are missing items and never as I had ordered them, which is important because getting my dad to eat has been a struggle. If they serve him mashed potatoes that I didn’t ask for and omit the soup that he likes, it’s more likely he won’t eat it. For $600 a night? Most of the nurses are kind and I hope the doctors are trying their best but there doesn’t seem to be a good system of double checking things to ensure crucial mistakes aren’t being made. I also get the sense that they’ve only got residents and interns working on his case because those are the only people they’ve been sending me when I ask for updates.and at times I’ve even been told things like “I am not really familiar with your dad’s case but they asked me to speak to you. ” What? Why not send someone who is familiar? I feel very powerless here and the person suffering unfortunately is my dad, who can’t advocate for himself

Ps - I was asked to be told about any medication changes, but I wasn’t. Weeks later I’ve discovered he was put on an antidepressant without anything being told to me, his health care proxy. Not even given a chance to consider the risks versus the benefits. An antidepressant is not emergency medication, there’s no reason to not consult a dementia patient’s family before starting someone on it.

I’m absolutely impressed and can’t find the right words to mention how competent, sweet, knowledgeable, respectful, attentive and dedicated the staff on 12th and 11th floor were during my labor and postpartum period. Thank you, wonderful people. Special thanks to my Dr. Sorkin to make the most precious time of my life unforgettable. And finally, I wish everywhere I go, I meet only these kind of people.

Horrible experience in triage. Put someone with a bedside manner thats not having personal convos at the front desk and knows how to lead with compassion. Your team did not listen to me & were rude. Also hire a more DIVERSE team. I traveled all the way to this hospital from another borough as this is my childhood hospital (Roosevelt). I only gave 2 stars cause my doctors were caring and took time with me, although I did not leave with any resolve to my issues. I will be fighting this bill cause you did nothing for me! Change your front of house triage team! Sad to say its all the same people, no diversity (rude, like your bothering them, and an all around attitude that they dont wanna be there!). What a disgrace! This hospital has become one of the worst.you may as well be St Barnabas in the Bronx or some other horribly known facility. I welcome a call from the director or someone else from this hospital. Oh yeah and when i called for results i was hung up on twice and the people on the phone were so rude. You have A LOT OF WORK TO DO!

The people who work there for the majority are wonderful. Competent. They do their best to take care of any problems.

Lack of compassion too many exchange students govern institutions creating concepts of false narrative Silly me I need to Really read consent form im given to sign upon treatment instead of statistics of wrongful treatment. Went to Emergency department for what i thought was A jam finger. Was sent home after x-ray stating no broken bones sent home w/ splinter wasn't given proper instructions on finger but was waiting on Hand clinic. 6-12-23 To vaguely sum this up why i feel Black Ppl's get third country treatment oppose to decent healthcare. I went back to emergency 3 times concerning my finger. Dont want to lose my finger. Each time i was told i had to wait for my appointment w/ Hand specialist on 440 Amsterdam ave 114 street. 7-21 -23.finally the day came Why this young resident told me i had only 2 choices NOW because the ER doctors inform me wrong and that they fail to give me proper care until my appointment w/ specialist because now my finger is deformed or physical therapy 3 months and even so my finger when fix can no longer bend America is a laughing joke consume w/ low level entitled leading America to generations regrets that will soon give risekeep up the good work.absolutely stunning

I went to their detox center for a few days and the it felt like a psych ward meets prison. No one listened. One of the other patients threatened to kill me, so I reported it to the head nurse and suggested that she be relocated to the psych ward instead of the detox center, but that didn't happen and she continued to follow me around. Then another patient who probably had severe mental health issues kept threatening to assault everyone. Again, nothing was done. What they did do was discharge anyone who had the ability to speak out against these atrocities. This isn’t a detox center, it’s a spillover of the psych unit. If you’re looking for actual mental health care and to heal from your addictions. PLEASE go anywhere but here. I was fortunate to make a few good friends here, we all left before our official discharge dates, because this was one of the most terrifying, unsupportive environments I have ever been in. 0/10 recommend to anyone. You will leave here with more trauma than you came in with. Full disclosure, I’m a Columbia student who has been to several treatment centers. I cannot even find the words to describe how awful this experience was.
