Always fresh and never have gotten sick from food like another local place. Great unique rolls and clean location

The food is great here! The Gyoza is the best I've had and the Neon roll is my favorite. Prices are good too. Can't wait to go back!

I was very surprised that this place was as good as it was, I did not have a high expectation of it - but wanted to try it anyway. Well there was nothing special about it, it did manage to exceed expectations.

Heard good things, so I tried it our. Sushi is pretty good for being this far from the ocean. Service is respectfully attentive. Nothing really makes it stand out, though.

Really really good sushi, excellent hibachi- you can't watch them cook it, but it tastes amazing. Chinese is okay but nothing special, soups are delicious. Not busy at all inside, they mostly do takeout.

I'm not a sushi person but their hibachi is fantastic! The sauce they put on it is unbeatable, and its always cooked to perfection.

I stopped in for a semi-empty early weekday [sushi] lunch in what appears to be the shell of a former Friendly's restaurant. The new owners apparently haven't changed much - the walls are still pretty bland. The only decor to remind the patrons that there is supposed to be Japanese cooking in the building appears to be cell-phone photos blown up to 8x10s and plastered on the otherwise unadorned walls. And if the 70s-style beaded curtain in the back hall makes you think "exotic, " you'll love this place.

But I'm here for the food. The host led me to the 8-seat sushi bar facing a thankfully muted television (photo), and I sat down began to skim through the menu. While there was not a very wide selection, I still was able to choose a couple of maki and a handful of nigiri. The server and sushi chef were mostly attentive and courteous and I was presented with a forgettable salad and a lukewarm soup while I waited for my main. The service wasn't too bad, but I did have to flag down both the server and the chef at least once for my main.

The two-plate plating could have been a lot better. Both were extremely simple, without any adornment at all - this made the smudges that the chef should have wiped off appear that more significant. The large band of white coloring in the bland, not-spicy salmon maki made me immediately aware that this roll was at least one quarter "filler" (photo), which did not enhance the minced salmon paste texture.

The nigiri was more of a mixed presentation. I found the rice was seasoned well, and the tamago was very fresh. But the hamachi seemed to be separating apart, and the second of the pair of ikura had a pink syrup oozing through the bottom rice, sticking the base of the gunkanmaki to the plate. My guess is that when I wasn't looking, the chef tried to save time by pouring the remainder of the jar of salmon roe and remaining "sauce" onto that piece. It was as unappetizing as you can imagine.

On item did overly concern me: all of the sushi tasted warmer than I believe it should have (except, of course, for the unagi). I watched the chef pull each item from the cooler as he prepared my selections. I'm pretty sure the cooler itself was a newer Hozhisaki, the chilling tubes frosted and I even reached over and touched the glass with the back of my hand - it seemed cool enough. But temperature definitely changed the texture of the hotate and especially the ikura. Luckily, it wasn't so warm that I was affected later.

I think they have a lot to work on, so it will be a while before I return.

Food was delicious and aesthetically presented. Staff was attentive but perhaps so much so that it felt rushed. Overall an excellent experience.

I ordered the lunch bento box salmon on top of sweet onions, it was tasty. The crab rangoons were not greasy and had a great taste and crunch. I really enjoyed it.

Some of the worst sushi I have ever had. Way too much crunchy tempura crumb on the sushi and it made it very dry. I didn't think the fish tasted very fresh and overall was just not impressed with the sushi at all.

If you love sushi, you may love Neon. I learned that I don't. They do offer a variety of Chinese and American alternatives to sushi however, and a *very* comprehensive bar.

Very good food. Hibachi meals (prepared in the kitchen, no hibachi tables) are great! Servers are friendly and very quick. I don't eat sushi, but my family members love it! Also offer a limited Chinese menu and great teriyaki meals. Good atmosphere - low lighting with colorful neon lighting in the bar area, which runs the length of the place.

My family moved to Glenville around the same time Neon Sushi arrived and we’ve always loved it! Neon Sushi is my personal takeout, date night and even birthday dinner go-to! Sushi may not be for everyone but what people don’t know is they have the BEST hibachi i’ve ever had. Love the flavors and takeout portions are great. Delicious food and good service.

Japanese food, yeah, so great. Service is always nice even when they have a full house. I had a cousin come into town and asked me to take him back here. The prices are fair for the quality of food.

Not my favorite sushi place but the service is always good and the food is made promptly. I have never dined inside, only done pick up.

Best sushi in the capital district hands down. A little pricey but the food is always fresh and delicious.
