I’ll NEVER be returning here EVER. And here’s why:
I decided to come to New BBS Beauty Salon for a wash and blow on October 24,2019. It was around 9: 30am and I wanted to get my hair done before work so it’ll be easier to do throughout the week. My usual stylist was closed so I didn’t have time to do my research like I usually do. I looked up the nearest hair salons and this one was a five minute drive. When I got there, it was empty, the stylist was nice enough, and the initial $35 cost was much cheaper than the $80 I usually spend so I decided, “what the heck”, I’ll give it a try. WRONG. Firstly, the towels smelled of mildew and corn chips. Secondly, she washed my hair three times, which is standard for me, but my hair was full of dandruff still. I have dry scalp so normally I wash it again to get it out, but she insisted it will come out once she dries it and style it so, against my gut feeling, I allowed her to dry it and style it still flaking. I just want to stress also that around this time, it was still empty so there was no need to rush, I would’ve risked being late if it meant a better job. Anywho, it turns out decent, I paid an extra $10 for a cut, no issue just want to cover my bases. Fast forward to October 31,2019, when I want to revert my hair back all I do is lightly wet it and apply product. However this time was different. When I wet my hair it didn’t revert back to its normal state, instead it puffed up unusually and the back was almost still completely straight. I started to work on my hair at 12 and stopped at 1: 30 because I had work at two and as a desperate measure had to cut the back almost completely down and throw two puffs in my head and be on my way. I was disgusted the entire day with my hair’s state. It never looked like that after two bleach jobs and three dyes, over the course of time and not all at once, lol. As I’m typing this, I attempted to wash my hair and deep condition it but it’s coming out in clumps and still smells like the day I got it washed. I don’t have pictures n of the hair I had to cut off but I’ll provide some pictures below. I’ve never been biased. But I know personally I will not go to another Dominican salon again. I’ve heard the horror stories of block women with natural hair coming to these salons just to have them texturizer and other chemicals in their hair to make it easier to manage. I’m not saying all, but by the state of my hair I can guarantee despite, wrapping it and taking care of it, my hair would’ve been this way because of whatever chemical, besides shampoo and conditioner, she put in my hair fried it.

I went here out of recommendation of my best friend, I need a simple blow out & trim. Now I never read the reviews but after seeing them now I wish I read the reviews before going. I got my hair done once by these people & they MESSED UP MY NATURAL HAIR TEXTURE! MY HAIR WAS RICH & THE TEXTURE WAS THICK NOW EVERY TIME I WASH MY HAIR ITS FALLING OUT IN STRANDS ITS STILL STRAIGHT AND I GOT MY HAIR BLOWDRIED BY THEM ALMOST 2 MONTHS AGO. THIS NEVER HAPPENED WHEN I WENT TO ANY OTHER SALON TO GET A BLOW DRY! WORST PLACE EVER!

These sick individuals put relaxer in the conditioner! They will perm your hair without permission! They completely destroyed my hair after being natural for 7 years. I was devastated! They consider Black hair to be “unmanageable” please don’t go here! I have videos to back up my testimony. Definitely will be contacting the better business bureau I hope they get shut down!

Never again! Customer service at it's worst. I sat to obtain a blow dry and curl to conclude my visit. The stylist was burning my scalp at times while blow drying. Unbeknownst to her I am a fluent spanish speaker even though dark in complexion and sat there for the first 10 minutes as she indicated to her peer, "I don't care if it hurts, I am going to do it anyway. " As she proceeds in curling my hair the solution in which she used caused my hair to sizzle and the curler to burn me even more. At this point, I stopped her and responded to her in Spanish, "that I sat and took your disrespect while you were blowing my hair, now you proceed in curling my hair and are doing more damage. " At this point, she is in a state of shock and proceeds in defending herself that she does not burn people. I told her I don't care what she did to anyone else but that she burned me and I don't want her in my hair. She apologized and at this point, I ended the horrible experience and walked out. I do not recommend this business, customer service is first and foremost and in this day and age Dominican salons are a dime a dozen. Appreciate your money and go somewhere else where is is deserving.

My five year old daughter had a dance recital on a Sunday in July 2018. She has beautiful naturally thick hair which needed to be washed, blown out, and put up in a bun. I brought her to the salon the day before to find out if they do children's hair, so they can see her hair, and to get a price. The owner assured me that it wouldn't be a problem and I should just bring her in the next day (Sunday).
When we arrived on Sunday before my daughter's event, one of the stylists who was there the day before named Julianni, instructed another stylist to do my daughter's hair. This stylist became agitated and proceeded to rant in Spanish. She got up, touched my daughter's hair as if she had bugs crawling out of it, and continued to complain about us in Spanish! First, she said she couldn't do it because she didn't have a donut for her hair. BAM, I pulled it out of my bag. Then she complained that the price that the owner gave me was too low for the job. Mind you, she's still speaking in Spanish. Now that she has run out of excuses to NOT do my child's hair, she tells her to sit at the sink. My daughter is not used to going to a salon, so when this nasty woman turns on the sink, my daughter covers her face. She says to her in English, "what's wrong with you? It's only water! " And continues to say in Spanish, "that's why I don't like to do black children's hair".
At this point, I had enough of her! I told her do not touch my child's hair. We will go somewhere else! I was ready to lose my religion on this woman!
The other stylist, Julianni, came over and said please don't leave, I will do her hair. Meanwhile, the other lady is still fussing about me and my child in Spanish! I told her that I can understand EVERY word she is saying so she needs to watch her mouth in front of customers who don't "look" hispanic. Her whole attitude and demeanor was disgusting and EXTREMELY unprofessional! I have never been treated so poorly in a place of business. I made a complaint to the owner and will never set foot in that salon again.
Don't be like me, read the reviews and take heed! Ugh!

Came here to get a perm after 2 years of being natural. Got a perm and pixie cut. I looked real cute that day. By the end of day 4 my hair was brittle. At the end of week 2, I had to CUT MY HAIR OFF. I went to the salon I usually go to before and they said it was damaged beyond repair and wanted to know who I let perm my hair. It’s been natural again for a few months now. Hair hasn’t grown back in 2 spots. I do not recommend.

Been going here since 2002/2003 absolutely love Santa, she’s the best! However the staff has changed often since and some good some not so. My complaint is the recent change in charging for natural hair even if your hair isn’t natural!
I was recently in with another customer that had very soft/curly and extremely manageable shoulder length hair and an argument ensued because she was charged for having natural hair when there was another Hispanic customer with hair to her lower back with the same texture of hair and she was charged the basic $25.00. The customer brought to everyone’s attention that this is racism which I never thought of it this way but who or what other ethnicity would be charged for “natural hair”. And as I went to the counter to pay for my daughter and myself (both having relaxers) we were also asked & charged for natural hair also. I didn’t bother to put up the fight I paid and said GOOD BYE! I will not be returning!
Betty this is disgusting!

Worst salon and business owners. They need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau for unethical business practices and horrendous customer service. The quality of their hairstyles and nails leaves room to be desired. Please save yourself the heartache, headache, hassle and money and go to someone else like Kim or Kissy (for nails they are the best!). Would have given Illira zero ratings but it's not allowed.

I went here by accident because the place I usually go to the stylist wasn't available. I have natural hair and they round brushed my hair so well that everyone thought i had a perm
