Ms. Jay is one of the best.if not the best dance instructor in Westchester County. I have taken a few of her classes, but my favorite has to be the "Afrobeats Dance Fitness Class" she teaches. Her energy and ability to make everyone in the class feel comfortable no matter your fitness level or dance history is out of this world. We were having so much fun, I think we actually went over time for approx 15 minutes. New Beginnings Performing Arts Studio is the place to be!

Great instructors, great environment, and overall a good experience if wanting to take a dance class.

New Beginnings provides an opportunity for our daughter (student for 4.5 years) to engage and grow with other dancers. The studio director, Ms Jay, along with her team have created a challenging yet fun atmosphere. We feel that the classes also nurture the students spirits! The Gooden Family

I really liked this studio and thought that it could be my dance home but there’s a severe communication issue from the owner and instructors. The lack of formal and clear policies comes across as sloppy and makes it impossible to fully enjoy the experience. There are no clear distinctions between “open” classes and more technical classes. I got into a dispute with the owner over a class card that I purchased because I enjoyed it so much but couldn’t fulfill it. After calling several times to address the matter, instead of trying to be understanding of the situation and apologize for any miscommunication, the owner took time to berate and call me names, which as a business owner is completely uncalled for and unprofessional. She spends most of her time working with children so unfortunately she seems to take that tone with adults too and it’s very unbecoming. If you’re looking for a more chill and fun environment where you can still dance and relax, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a place to train dancers, this is probably it as the rigidity is only best suited for that circumstance. But even then, God bless and good luck.

I have been attending New Beginnings for the past ten years and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. New Beginnings is a beautiful place of love, growth, and acceptance and I am so blessed to attend this studio.

Hello All.

My name is John Chamness and I'm humbly speaking on behalf of the New Beginnings Performing Arts Studio in New Rochelle, New York. Some just call it a studio but to many of us it is a "home".

I use "home" because in the words of Ms J "It's a home. It's a place where dancers can create and children can explore and discover their voice and who they are as a dancer and as an individual"

In May of 2018 we had to relocate suddenly to a new space due to economic development.

As disparaging as the maneuver was, the strength of Kyra "Ms. J" Johnson, founder of NBPAS and many generous hands from friends and family we gradually witnessed the budding of "this space" becoming again the intonation of what NBPAS strives to give to the community.

Our New Beginning.

NBPAS studio represents diversity in many different facets of learning the arts. An array of classes both classical and cultural allows the "creator" to explore, move, act, dance always remaining a creative haven and safespace for dancers or the "shy-performer-at-heart" to come and engage, learn and create. We want the community, not just New Rochelle but all the boroughs to know we are here and what we have to offer. 10 years ago NBPAS studio was started by my mentor, friend and founder of New Beginnings, Kyra "Ms J"Johnson, whom was honored by the Chamber of Commerce of New Rochelle with an entrepreneurship award for her undying dedication, outstanding commitment and industrious love not just for the studio but for the students and every soul that steps through the NBPAS doors.
