New Ivoire reviews
22The worst experience! $100 for sour white rice, stale re-fried plantains and oily fish! So disappointed The place can also use some major updating!
Extremely rude on the phone, I called the music for very loud and she asked me to speak louder which I did and she started to complain that why am I raising my voice. Very poor customer.
Just horrible.even the food is not that good anymore
I give it a 4 stars just because their food taste amazing! The lady at the cashier got some attitude and she doesn't listing when you explain what you want to order. Almost got over charged. With all that her attitude, I really love the food.
Ok so i had a trip out the Jersey today for work and my hubby and i decided to drive to NY City to get atcheke. Actually in all fairness this was not the actual place i bought superb atcheke about 2 years ago. But since we mapped it and it took us here, i said why not.
Horrible taste for $19 an order. Got 7 orders. The atcheke was super dry and there was no sauce. Instead we were given pepper mixed with mayonaise. Avoid this place. The fish was inbetween dru and a.little.moist. Its one thing if the ambiance is poor but the food is excellent. Anorher horrible thing when both the ambiance and food are horrible which was the case.
Further, how cN you possibly go wrong with aloco, i mean this is an Ivorian side. Even a 5 year old can make aloco. It was down right TASTELESS.
I gave this place a 2 star because the lady was polite. One more thing, men kept coming in to use the rest room and were maskless. Who does that in todays world. The store did not even stop them from coming in considering the huge pandemic in NY.
Never again. There is a way better place, just cant remember the name.
Food used to be okay. But quality went down now, especially their so called “garba”is tasteless and more expansive than ever. Also, the place is freezing cold during winter; it’s simply unbelievable with all the money they’re making not to put some heat on.
When there cause I had acheke there before, and you know it’s a ivoire restaurant. We ordered acheke with grilled fish, they bring out the fish 2 min later, which was old fish, It was hard and I told them it was hard, and you can tell it’s old cause you can smell the oil, I just paid the 20 for the acheke and didn’t eat and left
Last weekend after a late night of bumping and grinding on the dance floor my friend took us to New Ivoire resturant. He ordered us a traditional Ivorian Arachide Gombo (peanut butter & okra stew w/ beef) white rice on the side. The soup was absolutely flavorful and delicious, an absolute party in our mouths. The staff was inviting and proud of the dishes they served. The resturant has a simple yet homey decor. A definite crowd pleaser!
Amazing, food was good, proud to be African, I will not hesitate to go back there and eat. Food was amazing, I had lamb with fried plantains. Once again thanks NY. Merci mes freres ivoiriens
Good local place where you'll see a lot of natives eating authentic food. But the place is a bit mismanaged, the menu is a mess. If they spent a day improving stuff I can see this place becoming 25x better. Great portions but a bit overpriced for a hole in the wall
This place was a cool little find that a friend brought new to. I would recommend the peanut butter and okra stew, it was quite good. You'll have a leg up if you speak French.
The establishment is always loud and this doesn’t affect the food quality only the ambience. The prices are fair and the subway is a few blocks away.
Quick eatery, they could improve on the cleanliness of the restrooms.
The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. The space is small so the tables are set up for maximum service. Authentic African fare.
Very delicious food I usually take my food to go but you can eat in if you like. They make foods from the Ivory coast. I usually order their fish and attike, alloco (sweet fried plantains), jollof rice (riz gra), and banana porridge.
Place must be under new ownership. I only get the fish dish when I go there (can't speak on the other food). It was terrible. Greasy, not as flavorful and stunk up my car. There are more options with the dishes but the care that they used to take with the food, no longer exists.
Their food really tastes good, typical of West Africa. The quantity is great as well. I will visit again.
Very nice restaurant i love the achieke especially the hot sauce keep it up.africa busines black power
The place is fine, the food is ok if we have to judge it on true African food standards. Some meals are very good but the biggest plus is that they're open 24/7 I think
I like that they are open 24/7. Food is usually good for the price and decent after party spot when you are hungry
I love the grilled fish with fried yams. I wish there was more consistency in the size of the alloco slice though. I also love the salad, mainly because of the dressing. I would not recommend the dibi nor the leg of lamb as they are overcooked. The staff is friendly, but the service is lacking. Patrons can be too loud and the restaurant can benefit from a renovation.
If you don't mind listening to conversation you wouldn't care about, go. Somewhat too noisy. For the food itself, can't complain much but expect a slightly higher pricing. Would recommend? Yes
