New York Blood Center reviews
5Took awhile to find this place but it’s across the ticketing area on the ground floor
Very attentive and professional staff. I don’t like needles, so I look away when the needle is inserted. I practically didn’t feel it going into my vein and when I took off the bandage there was a tiny red spot on my skin. No pain, no bruising. To be fair, my veins are pretty visible, but as an experienced donor, this was in my top 5.
My only tiny gripe- it’s very noisy there. Between AC, 2 fans, 2 working TVs and general noise of the bus terminal, it can get a bit tiresome, if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing, especially if you’re going for a longer procedure. I would recommend bringing noise canceling headphones
This was my first time giving blood through New York Blood Center, and I had a great experience! All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The process was smooth and easy. There was no wait. I was in and out in less than an hour.
I booked an appointment for port Authority center to donate blood for first time and I was running late, I called and confirmed my appointment and did let them know that I was running late they said it was okay. When I reached at the place the door had close sign, I could see the employees through glass walls and I knocked but they chose to ignore me. Worst experience ever! Staff needs training on patient/ donor management and if you are closing earlier than written on google please mention that.
I absolutely dislike this place. It was fairly empty when I came in, but their lack of attention when coming in was a nuisance. The lady at the check in was busy on her cellphone to give me proper directions. She sent me to a gentleman to get my vitals taken who was sitting down on his cellphone and to busy to even wave his hand to tell me where to go. The only saving grace was a gentleman called Ron. He was just a cool dude to talk with and forget you were there to donate blood. Besides that, I think guidelines should be established on how to treat people.
