To be honest and in my own personal experience, ad far as the HRA (Human Resources Administration) in New York City, social services of New York City as a whole, and the separate offices, services, buildings, centers in each individual jurisdiction and borough of the city individually, this is easily and absolutely by far, the BEST, most WELL SERVED locations for either and all of the following: Cash Assistance, NYC SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Programs) which is formerly known as food stamps, NYC disability, NYC Social Services in general as a whole, and it's individual other departments such as New York State and individual borough/county Medicaid, Rent Payment Assistance, the NYC 'One Shot Deal, HEAP (Heath and Enegery Assistance Program) and Family/Child Care Assistance Services. This is the main Union Square location that you need to go to initially if your a new applicant or participant, and are receiving a new or updated NYS Assistance ID card, and or foodtstamp card. Also if you are someone with a work defferal to where you don't need to attend the back to work vendor or WEPS ASSIGNMENTs, then you will need to go to this location specifically always for whatever appointments you have or need, and you will have to recertify and do CASAC evaluations to see where you are as far as whatever reason you give them for your work defferal. Even so, this is the BEST HRA as far as service speed in all of New York City, they get you in and out as fast as possible and is ran and organized extremely well especially compared to other offices especially the ones of Hoyt and Schimmerhorn in Brooklyn which is by far the WORST of these HRA locations.

I’d give this place zero stars as they have NO TRAINING to deal with people who are going through horrific times, some of us are veterans, or recovering from addiction or have ptsd from molestation and are going through economic difficulties on top of all these things or all three as in my case. I aways did everything perfectly, every apartment and every request yet they STILL messed up my food stamps and now I have to go to bed hungry as I was COUNTING on them today. Also, I can not stress enough that I actually checked up on my status and they told me in PERSON everything is good. Yet here we are. Rude, HOOD staff, little compassion and almost zero understanding of people’s economic struggles.

I came here to resolve some issues at this office regarding Edumacation & employment paperwork and Ms Thillet is one of the most gracious people that I have ever came across.

However, Ms Hyman, a supervisor seems to have an attitude when I had a couple of questions. Is that how you help clients along when they are stuck on something? Something about me not supposed to walk the area by myself. Seriously, does your parents not love you enough? Are you not getting enough jiggy in the bedroom? I was informed to call 311 but, i didn't think that was enough.

I understand that everyone has their own way of handling things but, belittling someone who needs help is not the way to go about things.

Partially Recommended.

The worst i dont know if i went at the wrong time to get a replacement card but the lines was long and then a incident happened to where it resulted in the security and police started beating a man so that held up the process i will hold on to my card so i never have to go back there

I was given the wrong card and I told the case worker this is not the correct card. She would not change it. She argued me down that she knew what she was doing. I am now unable to feed my kids for the weekend. I have to wait for Monday to get another card.

All public assistance centers give attitude! If it does not come from a worker (former recipient from 1970) it comes from security or a wep worker frontin.put up with whatever, get your card and be on your way!

Administration hearing was joke. After waiting 1.5hrs after my appt time, was told to call a phone number to check status myself. Like they couldn't have checked for me, or just called me with phone number instead of making me schlep to Union Square for nothing!
