New York Fencing Academy - Long Island reviews
10 This club produces a seriously unmatched youth/raw talent to NCAA/Senior/Olympic level fencing pipeline. I tell college coaches to keep an eye on any athletes coming out of this club when assembling their recruiting classes, as they never fail to impress!
It has been an honor to take my training to the next level with Sergey Danilov, especially on the international senior circuit. He knows how to train you like a professional in this sport, without the burnout. Like an experienced teacher should, he keeps the joy in the learning process, and reminds you why you started in the first place!
Lastly, a massive thank you to Misha, Marina, and the rest of the NYFA family for their kindness and generosity!
This place so great, great coaches and people, very help for my daughter focus to do something
Experienced caring coaches. Attention at every level. NYFA becomes your extended family by choice.
There's not enough great things I can say about NYFA - Port Washington. The coaches here are truly the best.
My son is 8 and starting fencing about 6 months ago. His coach, Slava, is so dedicated, takes a lot of time with him, is beyond patient, and overall just a very caring and motivating coach. It shows because my son has grown so much as a fencer in the short time he's been there. If you are interested in enrolling your child in fencing, this is the spot. They will help them grow in so many ways!
NYFA is an amazing fencing club! The coaches are very professional, patient and nice, especially the head coaches Sergey Danilov and Michael Mokretsov. They are the BEST! They motivate the kids to do more, demand accuracy, but very caring at the same time. My daughter is so lucky to have an opportunity to train with them. The atmosphere is great. NYFA fencers and parents are very friendly and inclusive. And the facility is clean, well equipped and very well maintained. We really like the club!
I will say that NYFA-LI is the best fencing academy in Long Island (please check the fencing club ratings) and one of the top fencing clubs in the U. S.
Fencing gurus and coaches in this club including Misha, Sergey, Stefano, Slava and others are one of the best fencing coaches in the whole world. Head coach Misha and Sergey are both also designed team USA coaches.
2020 Tokyo Olympic Games Men's Epee Gold medalist and several World Cup Champions are also trained at NYFA. Recently our club’s young fencers won Junior Team Women's Épée at Junior Olympics champions two years in a row.
I have two kids in the club. Thank God, we chose the right club, my two kids started private and group lessons training from September 2021. After one and a half years training, they are both got great national ranked in their age group.
My experience here while attending classes, fencing and interacting with everyone has been absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a fun activity for your child, I could not
recommend this place more.
Amazing coaches and staff! The quality of instruction can’t be beat- we are so lucky to have NYFA in town. Our son looks forward to every lesson and has so much fun learning with his peers.
Great club with amazing coaching stuff. Friendly environment in the club, where kids enjoy spending time. Coaches not only help kids be strong fencers but help them by physically fit. My kids enjoy every minute in the club.
NYFA in Port Washington is the location where my 6 years old is currently attending. We started out in the summer of 2022 with group classes. Reason being our little fencer is a very shy girl and overall does better with other fencers her age. All the coaches are very nice, friendly and have a lot patience. We were so worried but we were rest assured by each coach that it’s just a small bump along the road which she will easily overcome. By the end of day 1, our little fencer already fell in love with the sport. The coaches have a long history coaching young fencers in addition to fencers in high school and national teams.
Personal experience: Our fencer enjoys the group class and the private lessons. The coaches make the class fun and entertaining. All classes start with cardio follow by lessons/group activities/1vs1 practices. Going to NYFA doesn’t feel like being a “need to” instead its because she “wants to”. As we joined only recent months, our experience has been very positive. We will continue with summer camps this year, regular school year trainings and looking forward to bring our fencer’s sibling into NYFA when she reaches 6 yrs.old or perhaps even earlier. Will share more update in the future.
