New York Hilton Midtown reviews
22Great location but disappointed with the extra charges at end of week. This was never explained on check in was only told 'incidentals' at the time but no explanation of the daily costs that I would have to pay at end of week and don't feel I've benefitted from anything from the extra costs and feel I've paid for something I haven't had and ripped off and scammed. Seven nights of $25 plus tax for what? I feel robbed as money has been taken from me and I've had nothing in return! This spoilt the trip. Overall the location was good, room was good but the extras ruined it so beware of this if you book this hotel.
We were put on the 16th floor initially, which clearly hadn't been renovated since the 90's as the wallpaper was peeling in the hallways and the room was outdated (but clean). We were fine to stay there but where the fridge should have been there was nothing, so I went and asked for a room with a fridge. We were moved to the 17th floor which had been renovated recently and was much nicer (though the same size). It's strange that they ask people to pay the same price for an outdated room and one that is more modern.
Overall I would have given this a higher star review, however service at the hotel is very poor. I waited over an hour for a kettle to be delivered to my room (considering I'm paying over $350 a night, having tea and coffee in the room for a 4 star hotel should be standard) - I needed the kettle for my young son and his milk, so it wasn't great to have to wait that long. Called several times to customer service, either it would ring out, or I would be transferred without warning to a dead line. After finally getting through I waited over an hour for it to arrive as 'they were in the middle of a shift change at 4pm'? Also, changing floors you'd think they'd send someone to help with the bags.nope, i had to drag all 3 very big bags and the stroller myself. I also had to call to get a new cot delivered to the room - again waiting a long time for it to be delivered.
People on the front desks didn't greet you nicely or anything that usually is expected of a hotel.a few times I just stood there waiting for the person to look up from their screen to actually acknowledge me standing there.
Breakfast is nice however and worth getting included in the room, though i'd advise getting down before 8: 30 as each day when I left breakfast there was a queue going down the hallway. I never had to queue myself, but if i did i would have been very annoyed.
Overall for the price it isn't worth staying here - I've stayed in New York about 10 times as I have family there, and this is the most expensive hotel I've stayed at, and by far the worst. I'll definitely try somewhere else next time and recommend you do too.
