New York Marriott Downtown reviews
9Worst experience ever. Leaving the hotel after less than 10hours again. Has no room service. No water and no desk service during the night. Magnet for trashy people, lots of noise in the hallway between 3am-6am. I’m pregnant and needed ice cubes at 19.30h. The manager’s answer was “kitchen is closed, no ice cubes until next morning”. I have no words. Definitely no more than a 3*.
Great service and location. Walking distance to 911 museum and memorial, wall street, ferry to liberty status and Staten Island, Brooklyn bridge and many others. Easy access to Metro and main bus lines. Hotel night requires a $25 charge per night on top of the room rate which includes $25 per night for on-site restaurants except Starbucks. $15 dry clean service credit per stay. One Big Bus tour downtown route ticket per night (double decker hop on and off bus going through all key attractions in Manhattan). Downtown route is enough. No need to top up for the uptown route which is easily accessed by Metro subway.
Massive rooms located in the heart of New York City. Great view of the Hudson River from the hotel room.
This is all about location. Don’t expect any luxuries, special treatment for being a Bonvoy or Elite member, no water in the rooms, or doors opened for you upon arrival.
Rooms look old, but clean.
Hotel experience was sub-par to other hotels that sit at a lower price-point and/or 4-star rating. The HVAC system rattled all night long; the body-wash was completely empty; there was no glassware provided; no robes are provided. View from the room was only saving-grace but that matters little when the primary motive is to rest and get-ready for the day. Front desk didn't even ask how the stay was upon check-out.
Great view and surprisingly spacious rooms for the location. The staff was super friendly and made sure we enjoyed our stay!
I was honestly surprised with how clean rooms are, everyone was really nice and helpful. Definitely worth it.
Located in the heart of the FIDI (financial district) this beautiful hotel is steps away from attractions and all area transit options. It’s about one block from the World Trade Center and the new One World Tower. The hotel is one of the nicest Marriott’s I’ve stayed in, complete with an updated and functional Marriott Club Lounge. I haven’t seen one of these operating like pre-Covid in years. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms, while on the smaller size, (it is NYC after all) are well appointed and more than adequate. We stayed on the 34th floor and were upgraded to a Harbor view. It was a real treat to walk in to the room, look out our window and see Lady Liberty. This upgrade should be on your list. It was beautiful to look out over the harbor everything morning and evening.
The Lounge had breakfast every morning we were there, but it shut down food service at 9: 30 AM. This was way before we woke up every day, so I was never able to experience it. Having it open until 10: 00 AM would have made a big difference for us. The Lounge Staff member was super friendly and helped to start our day off with a smile. She really set the tone of the day for us. Thank you for being such a joy.
Our room attendant was always punctual and serviced our room each day. Something, again, I haven’t experienced since pre-Covid. It reminded me of how nice it used to be at Marriott properties. I loved that I never had to ask for anything on this stay. It was always done before I needed it.
Resort Fee: There is a $25 daily resort fee that is added to your folio. Usually these are irritating add-ons that offer virtually no value, but this one is different. With this fee, guests get the following value:
- $25 Daily Food & beverage credit. This can be used in the small convince nook for snacks and beverages. It can also be used in the main hotel restaurant. Supposedly they have one of the best burgers in town, but we never gave it a try.
- enhanced wireless internet
- Daily Tickets to the Big Bus Tours that run around the city. (one per day of stay, can be used all at once). This tour was great and recommended.
- $15 City Bike credit to use at one of the hundreds of bike rental stations around the city. This is applied through the Lyft app and sent to your phone by the front desk upon request.
- $10 Dry Cleaning Service daily
We loved staying here and look forward to returning soon. Everyone at this hotel is world-class. One behalf of our family, thank you for helping to make this a great trip.
Incompetent front desk employees billed the wrong credit card. Spent 20 minutes with front desk to get it sorted. On my way to the airport, see that they STILL billed the wrong card, and when I phoned them, they wrung their hands and said I’d have to talk to the accounting team after the weekend. Wasted my time and stole my money.
