New York State Department of Motor Vehicles reviews
18Even with an appointment at 11: 30 still waiting to be seen. They need to be better at getting everyone serviced
GO TO THE DMV IN THE CITY INSTEAD! The staff here are lazy with the worst attitude. Save yourself the headache and go to the one in Manhattan
The experience was awful. I waited for two hrs and my number was never called. When I inquired with the clerks they began to process me and then told I didn't have enough credentials, even though I had presented my credentials multiple times prior. I wasn't able to test, as a result. Everyone of the employees were unprofessional and offered no valuable assistance. The entire process was a waste of time.
Once again the lack of access for people with disabilities. This irritates me everywhere I go I can not get alternative formats on forms. There is no excuse that you cannot enlarge forms when you are a office with a copier and if blind people cannot see the form, how can they fill it out if staff is refusing to assist.
There are no appointments. Just a hundred people squeezed into a hallway. Not very safe or distanced…
Really bad attitude, if you don’t want to work please don’t go. I went today and this women had a bad attitude, it was a really bad experience she so mean!
Go to any dmv but this one. On my visit today I was having trouble finding the entrance and the security guys were rude and would not help me because I interrupted their conversation about the Knicks. When I finally found it, I was greeted with another security guard having a shoving match with some guy. Once I got inside an impatient lady nearly knocked an elderly woman down to get in front of her in line. The old lady didn't skip a beat and loudly gave her a price of her mind. When I finally got to the front, the person working there rudely told me I didn't have the required documents even though I went by the website checklist of what was needed. Huge waste of time, and the next appointment available is mid March.
This place is AWFUL. Needed to register out of state car, was told to do mail in with response time for new plates and registration with turn around being 2weeks. Each time went for drop off, the incompetent workers said everything looked good and should be approved. Every time they overlooked something and got rejection in mail for things that the front should have caught. This happened 3 times already. 6 weeks waiting for registration. This time, 4th time, I got rejection because my ID information was missing.which was given upon submission. Now I’m genuinely concerned someone there trying to steal my identity.
Came here to take my learners permit, and i have to say, Ms. Stagnitta (?) at counter 35 was so so friendly and helpful. She kept on congratulating me on passing my permit, and she was the absolute sweeetest lady.thanks to her, my trip to the DMV was less miserable
I was there a 7: 45 AM (45 min before opening time) and there was a line up already of about 30-40 people in front of me. But it was worth it. I was out of there a 9: 05 with my new NY car registration and plate (first time application). Be prepared, have all your documents ready and it's going to be fast. Staff was friendly and helpful. I was helped by Ms. Caldwell and she was very competent and courteous!
Are there any managers or management that runs this place? I can't seem to understand why someone need to wait to pay. Why can't we just pay after we waited the initial 2 hrs to just make a small change why do we need to wait another 2 hrs to pay?
The worst place you can be in. After 5 minutes suicidal thoughts starts to come in your head. But don’t commit suicide that’s the key.
Sharee Jones: Your comment and attitude are very professional. Five kudos to you. I bet you drive a Mercedes, don't you?
The worst experience I've ever had at a DMV
Terrible customer service, I went to get my permit/ID renewed
I got sent in the wrong direction by 2 different employees waited on line for over an hour and a half, and by the time I got to where I could renew my permit I was told to come back tomorrow
If I could give 0 stars I would
Work DMV of several that I've gone to. Overcrowded, disorganized and the workers are rude and nasty. No one to organize the people waiting for assistance who can also be rude.
Terrible place. Was waiting for my permit for Over 3 hours. The place was Over packed, hot, with no phone service. Most staff members were terribly unhelpful.
My Lord, whiny complainy people, it's the DMV. You should all get on a time machine and see what it used to be like before tickets and benches. Bring a good book for chrissakes. Remember those? Be prepared to spend an hour here. It's a state agency and you can blame your fellow New Yorkers for taking so long when they don't fill out papers properly, not the DMV.
System went down.
Announcement was made;
You had an option to get
ticket, comeback tomorrow or wait.
I waited.
Things happen.
I have patience.
Staff had their challenges but stayed professional all while implementing a "make shift" system that got the job done.
No one likes the DMV!
So just come with patience and smile:)
The end.
