"Very bad experience. We were asked to schedule an appointment for 6: 30am, but upon our arrival, we had to wait for more than 2 hours to see a doctor! "

Fantastic hospital. So glad I picked this one for my delivery over the many available.

Firstly, the building and facilities are brand new, high tech and sparkling clean. All private rooms and delivery suites make it feel like a high end hotel in some respects. The care providers are all wonderful and I cannot say enough about the team of nurses whoo got me through the overwhelming experience of recovering from a c-section and new motherhood.

Dr. Ehab Abdelmalek who delivered my baby and performed my c-section was just wonderful, kind and competent. I won't hesitate to go back to him if I have any further pregnancies. Really, you won't find a better doctor, though he is super humble as well.

One point of advice to other moms, though - I seriously over packed, not ideal in NYC with no car.

Here are some items that I brought along but did NOT need, as the hospital provided: nipple cream, bed socks, toiletries (they have shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower gel, toothbrush and paste), pillows, towels and bedsheets for partner (they have these and they are all more than adequate!), my own gown / nightdress (honestly the hospital stuff is fine). Breast pump. Peri bottle (they have it).

I also didn't need a water bottle as they have paper cups and jugs of water. They have everything for your baby - diapers, pacifiers, newborn kimono shirts, swaddles. The meals, while not exactly gourmet, are easily enough for 2 people to share. Just bring a few snacks and something for your partner during delivery (though there is a starbucks on he 2nd floor). I didn't need my laptop, which I had brought like a crazy person. I brought a breastfeeding pillow but didn't use it in the end. They have pillows. They have a breast pump.

So - what should you bring? An eye mask / ear plugs or noise canceling headphones. Going home outfit, and one for baby. Car seat. Any toiletries you want (though theirs are fine). A long phone charger. A bluetooth speaker / nightlight. A folder for paperwork. Tote bag for gifts and take-home stuff (chanel gift bag etc, yay!) Some gatorade for delivery (thought they do have some options), plus any specific items (massager, massage oil etc). A pumping bra would've been useful! Possibly a stroller fan. Lipbalm and hair ties.

Only complaint is the lactation consultants. Nowhere near as many as needed and you will wait for ages.

Though nice and helpful when they arrived, I was utterly dismayed to see my "I want to exclusively breastfeed" had magically transformed in my notes to "patient is ambivalent about breastfeeding" (what the actual heck!) and that "primarily formula advised going forward".

All because I was recovering from major abdominal surgery and sent the baby to the nursery for 6 hours and one formula feed each night while I recovered! Well, as stated I am now exclusively breastfeeding and I want to counsel the LAs not to write such things which could seriously harm any mothers with PPD who have stated they WANT to breastfeed. Way to make them feel like a failure for giving a few bottles of formula overnight while recovering from surgery.

That aside, I would go back here in a heartbeat. Thank you all!

We made a 10a appointment for my wife for a sonogram. Here on time, about 30 people here already waiting and we're waiting for 40 minutes. These people don't care or respect your time

I really loved my entire experience here from start to finish. From the moment I started my prenatal appointments to the day of delivery I felt listened to and cared for and the doctors and nurses really take you seriously. As a black woman I had concerns about delivering my baby in a hospital but I couldn’t be more happy with my decision to trust the doctors and nurses here with my health and the health of my baby. They took pain seriously and made sure I was fully informed about pain control if I wanted it. They also have an amazing lactation team that helped me when I was having trouble and thanks to them I am successfully breastfeeding my baby. Also the food is really good and gave me the healthy start I needed for postpartum.

My MD: Inna Landres. Her team is on point with scheduling, paperwork etc. Dr. Landres herself is so experienced and kind and went above and beyond to make my birthing experience as seamless as possible. Throughout my pregnancy she took every complaint seriously and always followed up with me via my chart and a phone call. I am so grateful to her.

Top notch facilities and amazing care. This was my first time having a medical care team that cared about my preferences for giving birth. The asked me if I had a birth plan as soon as I was admitted and we agreed on what was feasible. I was provided with bouncing ball, a peanut ball, they allowed me to walk around wirelessly, and were so patient and kind. The blinds and heating/ cooling/ lighting system were adjustable. The nurses are AMAZING! I have never felt so supported with childbirth ever. They explained every procedure and made sure that I understood the next steps.

My only complaint is that the anesthesia team was horrible. They were not responsive in a timely manner and left me during a sterile procedure for 30+ minutes to attend to someone else which was not ok. They did not listen to my concerns and my epidural did not take until it was time to give birth which meant that I spent almost 4 hours before being moved to post partum because I couldn’t move my legs.

Post partum was incredible! They also made a point to also include dad in conversations, which is great as people typically tend to forget dads. The nurses, the lactation counselors, the NP, food service and house keeping were wonderful! The hospital was well built and everything was well thought of.

My younger children were allowed to visit which was so sweet. Thank you so much NYP!

I gave birth to my daughter at this hospital and I am convinced that the high level of care I received at this hospital is the reason that the start to our parenthood journey was so smooth. It was evident that everyone who worked there truly loved their job and they all excelled at what they did. I'm so thankful to have had a smooth landing into parenthood and I am forever grateful that I was able to give birth at this facility.

I delivered my son here and the staff, nurses, everyone was so helpful. Beyond nurturing. I felt extremely comfortable. They gifted me a beautiful Chanel perfume and lipstick. And it reminded of my mom. I tell everyone about this place. And it’s just beautiful, spacious and clean.

If i could rate it 0 stars i would. Please, please don't go over there. My baby was born prematurely and spent 5 months in their NICU.
My baby was born relatively healthy (good weight, breathing with less help), but they made him sick by giving him cow milk fortifiers (they claim is human). My baby got sick immediately after was given these fortifiers. He got sick with Necrotizing Enterocolitis, which they failed to recognizing in a timely manner. This is a devastating disease, and they discovered it after few days (my baby's belly was distended) but the doctors rarely go check their actually little patients. Their rounds happens while standing in front of the patient's room, so they don't bother to physically check their patients (relay on nurses information). That's how they missed my baby's diagnostic. Two days after his belly was distended, my baby was screaming in pain, and that's how they finally realized that, hey, something is going on. They stopped the feeds and put him on antibiotics but it was too late for just with antibiotic recovery. My baby had 5 small bowel surgeries, sepsis, and an inflamed, bleeding brain afterwards. He still has a central line for intravenous nutrition, a g-tube, and a lifetime of disability with an severely injured brain.
They said giving fortifiers to preemies it's a standard procedure. They recognized that some infants may be susceptible to these fortifiers with the possibility to develop NEC- a life threatening and devastating disease for the survivors.yet they don't take any measures to avoid it happening under the pretext that it's a small number of babies that are getting sick.and the majority takes well these fortifiers. There is no test, no close supervision of the patient at the time they introduce these horrible milk fortifiers. Other hospitals are only using human fortifiers.
Because of medical negligence that happened there, we are now dealing with a lifetime of disability: cerebral palsy, hard to control epilepsy, short gut syndrome and the list goes on.
Also, the obgyn that I saw there (maternal fetal specialist) fail to recognize my preeclamsia symptoms and dismissed my symptoms every time I mentioned them. I was swollen head to toes including my lips and she was like.it's normal in pregnancy
Don't be fooled by the name-Cornell, and the luxury hotel like rooms that they have in there. Don't go there
Do yourself a favor and find another hospital for delivery!

Top notch labor and delivery facilities. Nurses and staff are amazing and care is meticulous especially w/ a C-Section. Baby nursery is a huge plus, and leaving with Mets swag for baby and Chanel goodies for Mom was the best:)

It has taken me a while to finally get the courage to relive my experience and write this, but I had a horrible time with my labor experience at Alexandra Cohen. I was induced in June due to preeclampsia. I want to first say that my labor nurses were AMAZING and just about the only good part of my experience. I had a pretty traumatic birth, and was on magnesium due to my preeclampsia. I wasn’t allowed to eat anything but clear liquids, however the labor team accidentally marked me as no food whatsoever, so I didn’t eat anything from when I came to the hospital Tuesday morning until Wednesday evening.i had my first epidural placed by a resident who couldn’t get it in (I didn’t want residents as part of my birth plan). The attending took over and placed it, but the epidural ended up failing and I could feel contractions. The anesthesiologist didn’t believe me and told me to continue pressing the extra drug button. However, he came back shortly after to say he needed to do an ice test since I was at risk for c section. Only then did he believe me that the epidural had failed and needed to be replaced. I was taken to recovery and my first nurse wouldn’t let me pee alone, completely taking away my autonomy. I tried to pee but can’t do so in front of others, so couldn’t go. I stand up and the nurse immediately starts wiping me WITHOUT ASKING. How demeaning. So I had to have a catheter placed. My labor doctors told me that I could be taken off Magnesium 12 hours after birth, but my recovery doctor made me stay on for 24 hours (meaning no food, no shower, couldn’t be alone with baby, and feeling like I have the flu). When I told the nurse that I wanted to be off of the medication (it made it SO hard to be present for my baby), they brushed me off and sent a PA to tell me that the recovery doctor said no (no conversation whatsoever). That’s completely illegal. I birthed for 24 hours, so sent my baby to the nursery overnight, but asked the nurses to bring my baby back so I could breastfeed. I woke up in the morning STUNNED because no one brought my baby back. They gave him formula against my wishes. The nurses said it was a miscommunication when they switched out that night. But it happened AGAIN the second night. I woke up at 4am and called in to have the nurses bring my baby back. They took over an hour to bring him back, and when I told the nurse how long I’d been waiting, she told me it hadn’t been that long and tried to gaslight me. My first nurse also never gave us our initial welcome papers, so we missed a ton of classes and almost nearly missed applying for the birth certificate. The only truly outstanding nurse we had was Belen- she was a miracle to us. I couldn’t have had a worse experience at this hospital. I’m still so sad thinking about how poorly I was treated. I had to pay nearly $5K (with great insurance) for truly horrible care, and I will never return to this hospital.

I cannot say enough good things about the Alexandra Cohen Hospital. If I could go check myself back in for a few days, I would. A few things that make the experience here better than anywhere else:
1. The labor and delivery triage rooms are private. It’s a great way to start off your L+D experience. I was grateful for the privacy and overall comfort of being in a private triage room.
2. The labor and delivery rooms are huge and very comfortable.
3. The staff are amazing. I truly felt like the priority and all my requests and preferences were honored. It really impressed me that the nurses allowed me to sleep and rest. If a nurse came in to give me medication, but saw I was sleeping, they left and came back later. Sally was my nurse and she was so lovely. Dr. Waterstone delivered my baby and was wonderful.
4. BABY NURSERY! So many hospitals have done away with baby nurseries and force postpartum mothers to keep their babies all night long. Not here! They were happy to keep my baby in the nursery and bring her to me when she needed to nurse. I felt so supported, and was able to actually get a good nights rest.
5. While the food isn’t anything special, I did really appreciate having so many options. Each meal came with like 10 different components, with multiple options for each. And, this is NYC. You can always get something delivered if you want. I personally had sushi right after delivering.
6. THE GIFT BAGS. I can’t believe I almost forgot this. Mets swag and Chanel perfume are given to every mother. Amazing!
All in all, I can’t imagine ever delivering anywhere else and I’m telling everyone I know to give birth here.

I delivered my daughter at New York-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns recently, and the care I received was excellent, truly second to none. From the moment I was admitted for my induction to the moment I was discharged, I received consistent excellent and top-notch care from every member of the care team for me and my daughter. The rooms and facilities were of world-class quality, and so were the bedside manners and medical expertise.

Everyone was not only very caring and compassionate, but also super knowledgeable and communicative.

If I were to have another child, I'd definitely choose this hospital again.

Had the worst, most inhumane interactions with Joseph Aiello, Patient Account Manager. Unhelpful and degrading person. He should be fired immediately.

Beautiful facility, good delivery medical care, uneven understaffed unresponsive nursing and lactation support. My daughter delivered her baby here this week. The physical facilities are lovely and private though the one visitor at a time policy is overly draconian and unwelcoming for families. She received excellent sophisticated care for her actual delivery and her baby seemed to receive excellent care as well. However, the nursing care for her after she delivered and through her stay was really uneven, with the nighttime shifts downright bad. Shawna was affirmatively rude and mean - not what a new mom needs right after delivery. And at the time of her stay, the ward seemed almost empty with only one or two other babies and yet it took hours to get nurses to respond. Can’t imagine what would happen if they were busier. It took six requests and two days to have one lactation consultant come by who then came by at 3: 00 a.m…. There was minimal support or care for how she was doing as the mom, classes and demos were all virtual video clips, and the night nurse was downright nasty and critical of how she was diapering and feeding her baby right at the moment when she needed encouragement and support. I assume they are having staffing shortages like many other institutions so they can’t be choosey about who works there. Could be a five star experience with kind, responsive adequate nursing and lactation care.
