Nom Wah Tea Parlor reviews
14Great historic place to eat dim sum in the heart of Chinatown. Be prepared for a wait. Beautiful outdoor seating. Great tea. Definitely try the soup dumplings.
The place is way too crowded and it takes about 20mins or more to get seated during weekends. The service is fast but basic. The food tastes the usual but is definitely way too expensive by at least 100%. Am sure most other joints would be the same at much lower price.
Beautiful tea. Thirst-quenching delightfulness firsthand right here at the BEST tea shop in Chinatown.
I guess my expectation was too high.
Shrimp dumpling is a basic dish for a dim sum restaurant but it didn't taste that good, both texture and flavor.
The shrimp rice roll was really good! Everything else was good as well. Food tasted freshly made, definitely come back again for dim sum:)
Not bad, but not as good as other dim sum in the area. Went here on a recommendation, food was ok, probably won't go back.
Awesome pork buns, delicious dim sum in a historic nyc institution. No frills wait staff, quick with the orders, have obviously been doing this for a very long time. We came on a Sunday and waited in line for 1hr ordered 6 or 7 dishes.pro tip: Check the online menu for photos of the food! Shrimp siu mai is top notch. Also, it's cash or Amex only.
Authentic dim sum in Chinatown. Very popular and usually there is a line. Absolutely worth the wait. Outdoor and indoor dining available. Bring lots of friends so you can try everything.
Dim sum review is so so. Good: stuffed eggplant, tofu skin rolls, chicken feet, soup dumplings. Bad: turnip cake (too starchy and not enough flavor), shrimp dumplings (rice style dumpling skin too hard). Selection was pretty small as well. Golden unicorn is better in Chinatown area. Food tasted reheated. I think this would be good for Americans.
My favorite dim sum places in Chinatown closed (very sad.). I thought I would try something new. We showed up and there was a long line for tables. We tried take out - 20 minutes. The dim sum was on the expensive side and not better than a traditional dim sum eatery.
The service is lacking. My takeout sat and sat and sat.
Nom wah does outdoor seating with table service but in takeout containers. No real plates but rectangular paper dishes. Only takes cash or Amex. If you're dining inside you will need a proof of vaccination and an ID and are subject to a temperature check. Service is fast and they are busy even at odd hours. We ate there at 4pm on a Tuesday and we waited about 10 min. I highly suggest the shrimp rice noodle, pork soup dumpling, pan fried Scallion and chive dumpling and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce.
Ok food. Terrible service. Waitress served us and literally never returned. Had to flag her down to get the check.
My girlfriend chomped down on a literal ROCK in the rice (with Chinese sausage) on Saturday Sept 25th 2021 around 8pm. They removed the one item from the bill and barely apologized.
Food safety / health inspectors need to visit this place.
Will never return. And her tooth is still hurting three days later!
This place is a must try if you're in Chinatown! This place is a hidden gem, inside such a cute street. The dimsum is delicious and tons to choose from!
