Norman J. Levy Park & Preserve reviews
14Great place to go walking and jogging. Lots of trails with great woods and the view from the top is awesome. Has some steeper trails too if you're looking for some cardio.
I've been to Norman J. Levy a few times before but this morning before work I was able to thankfully do the full 2.2 mile hike that the all trails app has. It was so nice to see everything because on prior visits I didn't get a chance to make it up to the windmill or the two small ponds by the windmill. Once you make the uphill climb you can see the Manhattan Skyline and a few different areas. Today was pretty cool because the goats were out when I first came in and I got to actually be near a few of them. This is an awesome nature trail in the Nassau County area!
When I lived here it was the Merrick mountain. Very glad to see it reclaimed and made into a park. Awesome views of Nassau county and even the city. Very nice park, would definitely like to try the fishing pier, Merrick Bay used to be a favorite fishing spot.
I love walking here. Very scenic views and pleasant atmosphere. There are exercise stations along the trail. There are also elevated trails off the main path, so it makes the preserve feel large. It's well-maintained and safe.
Peaceful and beautiful park. Good short hike trail! There are two bathrooms available, one at the start and one in the middle trail route. They currently close at 4pm as sun goes down earlier right now.
It's not the most scenic walk but the path is wide and though not paved, mostly crunchy crushed shells under foot. The length was just about right and good views at the top of the hill. Best part are the goats at the bottom of the hill. Good, available bathrooms which you don't see that often on trails
Great walking spot, where each path feels like a whole new environment. Light-Fair incline, good distance, and friendly workers.
Lovely walk, a regenerated dump land that is now a lovely nature reserve. Friendly, helpful rangers and clean rest rooms and water machine ($2)
Great walking out running park. No dogs, no bikes. Lots of trees. To level gets a nice breeze. Fishing pier gives you some nice views of the bay. Some elevation changes with stairs or just uphill trail. Rest room out by the pier, and near the parking lot. Hosts onshore for control of grass apparently. An unusual bat house too. Free parking in a gravel lot. Park closed at 7: 30p so no sunset walk in the summer. Lots of benches along the trail to relax a bit.
Great place for a walk, my kid rated it an 8 out of 10. They aren't listed on the list of wildlife but there were tons of lizards.
Beautiful walking track! A kayak launch and a fishing Pier! Fully staffed with nice maintenance crew who keep the preserve up well
Nice little scenic trail on the water. Paths are made of rocks. Not a tough walk, small elevation changes. Can be done in 45 minutes.
Beautiful spot to come to. Has 4 different difficulty/distance levels. If you take the red trail it will lead you to the top where you can see the different towns. If you take the blue, you will only be walking the lower point of the sight which won't allow you to see the view. There is also a dock that leads to the water. And at the beginning there are goats in a "mini farm". Across there are the restrooms
Went canoeing with the family and had loads of fun. Important to be aware of when low tide occurs. During high tide is the best time to go.
