If you take in consideration the call volume down there and the number of ridiculous calls they probably answer, just be patient when you call them. I have never had a problem with anyone down there.

I too think it's a shame before God that you have to stay on hold look like forever. Also, when the phone is answered they really act like they don't want to be bothered or feel like you are bothering them when you are trying to obtain clarification of what they just stated, it's so sad. Also, it's a shame once you reach 65 and start receiving Medicare you have to pay a high co-pay when before you were 65 you didn't pay a co-pay we're retired on a fixed income this broken system it's outrageous something really needs to be done. You write letters and seem like it just falls on deaf ears and no one cares.

ZERO stars would be more appropriate for this service! The listed telephone number NEVER gets answered no matter WHEN you call. This has been an ongoing problem for what seems like forever and the Mayor's Office and those in charge of this service are just fine with the way things are. Your ONLY hope is to WRITE a letter to the specified address and wait 6 to 8 months for a response (assuming they even acknowledge receiving correspondence from you in the first place). So many people DEPEND on quality service which affects them monetarily as well as their health care, etc. BUT when you retire, you are all but "forgotten" by the City of New York and the current Mayor is "good to go" with all of it. Don't waste your time calling - either write to them OR go in person to Rector Street and take your chances there. Shame on those involved for not paying attention to this vital service and upgrading / improving the much needed services / staff, etc.

I think they are wonderful. My ex got fired from the board of ed and I was using his insurance and didn't know he was fired and that he had cut my services off. I went down there and explained and they backdated my insurance for a month and I paid for it. Ok when I finally got medicare there was a bit of a problem but I wrote them several times and got it resolved. Believe it or not, some of them actually have hearts!

They are very disorganized there. Ask to speak to a supervisor and they always come up with an excuse, that a supervisior is in a meeting or they
will send an employee out to speak to you, whhen you ask them are you a
supervisor there response is Iam sort of a supervisor. Terrible!

Horror story, they keep ignoring my requests for 2015 Medicare reimbursement, I was supposed to get it in June, not received it yet at the end of November.
