NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. reviews
14The dental service is owned by Spanish speakers only they make everything easy to them me has african I don’t get help for appointments like they get I go to the doctor on emergency room the send me to another service but still can’t fix my pain I spend my day on the phone call for nothing at the end it so sad I kill my self with drugs to relief the pain they should be more nice with everybody and don’t discriminate we’re all human beings needs to be take care to!
I never write reviews. So it has to be that bad or that good to push me to do so. This place is that bad. Once you step inside it feels like youre back in the 80s, at the minimum. For 2 weeks I had been requesting a referral for them to transfer me non stop or plain up hang up the phone. On the morning of my appointment they finally put in the request only for it to not be approved on time and I had to go home and reschedule. 5 days later on a Friday my referral is still pending review, no one is answering at the clinic or answering the operators, and my appointment is on Monday and I'm just praying I don't lose it once again because of this hospitals incompetence.
We love this hospital! Here works really nice people that even in the hard time makes you feel safe and in the happy time they are happy for you.
This is a horrible hospital & the good reviews must be fake. They would literally let you die in the waiting room. I brought my 1 year old in here in the ambulance bc he randomly started screaming in pain when I got here they didn’t examine him gave him grape juice and said “it’s probably COVID”…I brought him to another hospital and he had a gut infection. They should really be closed down I came here myself for stabbing pain in my chest and trouble breathing and they had me sitting waiting to see someone for hours I’m still waiting as I type this. Unfortunately this is the bar for quality in NYC hospitals if they are located in predominantly black and brown neighborhoods. The root cause for the lack of care and concern at this hospital is racism. And it’s sad because mostly everyone who works here besides the doctors are black or brown. Smh
Went to emergency room and was misdiagnosed with sprained ankle when ankle was broken and sent home with Tylenol. A few days later was rushed to another hospital by ambulance and was admitted for ten days because my medical condition had gotten much worse. Suffice it to say I will never go to Metropolitan Hospital again.
Words cannot express the love, gratitude and appreciation my husband, family and I feel for doctor Jonathan Mays and his team of doctors at the Labor and Delivery department of Metropolitan Hospital. The amount of care and support they showed us went above my expectations when it came to my high risk pregnancy. Everything that could go wrong in a high risk pregnancy happened, yet Doctor Mays, made sure EVERYTHING was done to the T in order for my son to get here safe and sound. My gratitude also goes out to the ladies at reception and triage area of the department. Specially Amara and Ms. Mayra who made me feel welcomed. Also at ultrasounds department; Gesenia and her team are amazing, too! Then Dr. Zhang, Dr. Shams, Dr. Youssef (I love you girl), Dr. Brewer, Dr. Lee and all the other that I may not remember their names, but your face I will always treasure. Also the nurses that were so attentive to our every need in both the labor & delivery and maternity will forever hold a special place in my heart specially Ms. Loraine Lesly.
Doctor Mays, thank you for taking my pregnancy when we were referred to you. Thank you for your time, your dedication and expertise you showed me and my husband in our time of need in the delivery of our son. You and your team made us feel so comfortable and well cared for through out the entire journey of the pregnancy. Our family will forever be grateful for you. God bless you all.
"You'll just feel pressure we promise. " *3 econds later* (inside thoughts: wtffff that shittt hurttsss)
Got a procedure done here and they found out a lot. But I needed to get x-rays and a week before the x-rays I need to get blood work. She didn't tell me what day to go get blood work, so I went November 8th which is exactly a week before the x-rays. They said they couldn't take my blood because it was election day. I wish they told me I couldn't come on election day
YesThe clinic you have to waitA long timeLong timeWaiting Chain can we fix the systemThat the Metropolitan HospitalIs in the clinic is slowAnd they take a long time to call people if you in that night 9: 00 a.m. They'll call you aroundIf you finish around 3: 00
I had a pretty nice experience there. The admin staff was very attentive and answered all my questions. The medical staff though slow (which I had grown to expect from a city hospital) still was pretty thorough with their care.
It was very run down and dirty when I went Christmas 2021 to the Emergency admittance and treatment area. They wanted to have me checked in for a shallow and small infected pressure sore, I told them oral antibiotics was good enough, which it was. No way was I going to be checked into this mingy place especially on Christmas Eve.
Also checking in makes one feel like a criminal. There is plastic to divide you from the person checking you in and no that isn’t from covid, it’s very old and you sign you life away on sheets they make you read off a screen which you really aren’t given much time to read, and they were nasty and confrontational over really basic items, i.e, it says they will provide copies of the patient rights if you ask, one of the things I was signing without really being able to read, so I asked and they proceeded to complain, moan, took forever, and made it seems like I was demanding some special favor, which, obviously, isn’t the case. Yep it’s a city hospital and really feels and looks like the worst of them.
I just brought my son in for a lengthy surgery. It was an all day affair and being from the island a long day for us all. I cannot praise the staff members, Nurses, desk workers and anyone else who crossed our paths that day for being so patient, understanding and above all helpful. Our experience as a whole made a very intense day so much lighter. Thank you to all that crossed my path and cared for my son that day. You all went beyond making us comfortable and the days events go so smoothly. You are all truly the definition of kindness and caregivers
Thank you
