4My soul mate is now laid to rest here. I visit him often and the deer, they sit as if protecting the headstones. Go in the morning it's much easier to navigate where you are going. Perfect place now that you are there Billy. Be at peace.
We love to visit cemeteries because they offer so much history and can tell you a lot about the city and the people who live/lived there. Oakwood reminds me of St Louis in New Orleans. The cemetery is divided up by faith and by family, so, again, it offers a lot to see regarding the history. Be sure to visit the grave for Diamond Bessie as well as the grave of the two outlaws marked with a simple chain between two posts. I'll not include the stories here so you will go visit and learn them there.
This cemetery is more beautiful, greener, and bigger than most public parks I've been to.
