Seafood Restaurant Oceans reviews
18 Restaurant week did not disappoint!
Excellent food from appetizers to desserts. Excellent service
Can’t wait to come back
Overview: My friend and I went here last night and it was delicious! Great food, service and atmosphere. I would definitely come back and bring friends and coworkers here!
What was ordered:
- Half dozen oysters
- Shrimp cocktail
- Black cod
- Warm donuts
- Bottle of white wine
Stand outside:
- The horse radish crème fresh sauce that came with the oysters was addicting. My friend and I were eating it straight it was so good.
- The black cod was delicious and most and perfectly cooked
- The wine we ordered was amazing. It was smooth and so easy to drink
Would I go back/recommend: YES!
Plastic in my sushi roll. Looking further into Oceans reveals a C from NYC ABCeating. VP of operations gave the excuse of the chefs receiving new coats for how ended up in the food. Chefs who reportedly can do the delicate knife work to prepare sushi cannot cut off a label? To add insult to injury they are to negligent to ensure the food they serve does not have contaminants.
If you read the publicly available information at abceating you will learn this the norm, not the exception.
While there is a 300 mile island of plastic in the pacific ocean. There is also plastic in the sushi at Oceans. Would recommend going elsewhere for fish in the city. Picture of the clothes tag that was in my sushi roll is included below.
OMG this place. A spectacular setting and food to match. Top quality sushi, great seafood, salads and lots of great little touches - like an amazing bread, and a kid’s menu! Pricey but they nailed it
Quiet, upscale dining experience near Union Square with a luxe vibe. Entrees are pretty large so you’ll leave full. Great service and great seafood; definitely would come back again.
Great seafood place in NYC. It’s a little bit pricey, but given the food and service quality plus a romantic/classy atmosphere, it’s totally worth it. Their sashimi whole fish is phenomenal.
A perfect quiet, intimate dinner experience that is officially part of our annual Christmas time tradition for a night in NYC. We chose this place for its quality of food, service and level of noise based on reviews. Oceans exceeded every expectation.
The servers were fantastic. The food was up to standard. The noise level was completely low and perfect to have a conversation even at full capacity at one point for a weeknight meaning the acoustics of the main room truly absorb the murmur of voices. That is extremely rare to find in NYC so highly recommend if this is important to you or have sensory sensitivities.
Try booking before 6pm if you want a more empty dining room and potentially better seating option for a rounded booth as they were so comfortable!
The in house made focaccia bread was outstanding, the Spanish octopus was warm and plating choices presentation wise are so carefully thought out.
If you like bourbon, try the Rothman as this cocktail was truly the most unique find I have come across in a while.
A true gem of the city. Don't miss it.
Oceans is one of the best spots for an all around great dining experience in NYC. The hosts are friendly, the servers greet you almost immediately and the service is so smooth you hardly notice it. Our favorite is the Rocketman roll. We could have had two of them.
This food was excellent! Fresh Fresh yummy fish and sushi. It's pretty pricey for sure, but I'll def head back there!
Great great restaurant seafood and sushi to die for!
Beautiful setting and espectacular service.
First time dining here tonight. Had dinner at the bar and am gluten sensitive. Martin, our bartender and server, was accommodating and knowledgable about the menu and very attentive to my dietary restrictions. The food was wonderful and the room was beautiful. But it was Martin who made the night spectacular.
If there were six stars….
Not one thing that we ordered was anything other than spectacular. The staff heard it was our anniversary, and made us feel very welcomed and very special. We highly recommend this restaurant on every level!
The ambiance and atmosphere was very welcoming. Beautiful decor. Not to be outdone, the food was delicious and well presented. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and very personable. He made our experience a memorable one! I will definitely be returning!
Whenever I am in New York, I make sure to stop into Oceans and now their neighboring restaurant too! We met Stephanie at another restaurant that is now closed, but she works here now and her colleagues and her always deliver the best service. I love so many things about Oceans. Their desserts are worth getting every time (the lava cake & donuts are my favorite!), and you can never go wrong with steak. The Cacio E Pepe at the neighboring restaurant was phenomenal as well!
Located in the middle of the busy Flatiron and Union square neighborhoods of Manhattan, Oceans is a prominent gem with great food and an even better vibe. Service can be a little clunky (multiple servers and sometimes more food than you ordered) but it's a small price to pay for the experience.
The lobster rolls and the rocketman roll are my 'go to" dishes but trust me, the lobster Mac and Cheese and salmon will also leave you satisfied. Skip the dessert and just enjoy the amazing focaccia at the beginning of the meal (you'll thank me).
Oh my. My favorite restaurant. Perfect temperature in the room. Perfect temperature water:) excellent shrimp, crab cakes and sushi. Love the salted butter, olive oil and focaccia. Mango sorbet and lemon pie. We come here for our anniversary every year!
Cannot say enough about this place, pure class from its guests, ambiance, service and food. A MUST for a fine dining NUC experience!
