I expected my Saturday night meal at Old Stove Pub to be more expensive than my meal at Panera on my way home the next day. But I didn’t expect that the Panera meal would be the better one.

Panera gave me quality that met or exceeded the price, while Old Stove Pub seemed to feel that they could “get one over” on their customers.

I was not expecting heaping portions. But one short leg of octopus is not an appetizer.

A corn-on-the-cob appetizer should not include an ear of corn entirely made up of tiny immature kernels and dried out disintegrated kernels on the end. That’s livestock corn, not restaurant food in the middle of corn season.

The Brussels sprout dish was a mush, not a course.

At a diner, the salmon and branzino would have been good. In this context, they lacked anything to distinguish them from their diner cousins, but their quality was fine and it didn’t motivate me to write this review.

In fact, I don’t write reviews when I’m disappointed. Why be vindictive? Just don’t go back. I also don’t pick on little guys. But, when I feel that a large, well-known, long established restaurant knowingly tried to give me less than what was implied, then I speak.

We spent $500 for the four of us. Not crazy money, but certainly well past diner or Panera territory. I suspect that they served somewhere around 100 other 4-person parties that night. They should have the money for a second scrawny octopus leg and a food-grade ear of corn.

This season, it’s important to forgive service issues or limited menus. Staffing is very challenging and we all know that. But my disappointment is in the chosen paltriness, and that’s a management issue, not a staff one.

Clearly the kitchen was overwhelmed for the amount of diners they booked. The staff was literally running to the tables when the food was finally done in the kitchen. The worthless manager was doing nothing to help. He walked around ignoring all the frustrated customers as if he didn't care that people were waiting over an hour for food. He never went in the kitchen nor was he helping the poor waitstaff in any way. Our friends were at the table next to us and had to go to the bar to get their own drinks. We have been to many dinners in The Hamptons and have never seen such poorly run establishment. We have been frequent patrons of this restaurant for many years under the previous owner and the food in the past was good. They have way too many tables now and not enough help in the kitchen to support them.

Nice covered outdoor seating. Food came out very quick. Thought that the grilled octopus and crab cake apps were great, flank steak ordered medium and was done exactly right. Portions could be a tad larger, fried Brussels sprouts could use some flavor, and there should be more side options (particularly non-potato options), but enjoyed all the food and service was spot on. Had the cucumber sakitini cocktail, which was a bit too tart. Will definitely go back.

The service was terrible. The manager walked around like nothing was wrong while his whole resturant was frusterated with the service. The people all around us felt the same way. May even got up and left. Food took 2 hours to come out. Never coming back.

Yo, this is one of the chillest places I know. I hadn't been by in a while and got in a bit late but it still felt like home. I was greeted like an old friend, how absolutely nice to receive such kindness immediately. Go there if you like good places to hang with good food, drink, vibes and wonderful staff. I would like to play some kickass tunes there one day, I only like to play at welcoming establishments and for that and so much more, this place is top notch.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably driven past this place about a bajillion times and never eaten there. Well, I can say if you’re sick of the same spots in Bridgehampton or Sag Harbor, the new Old Stove Pub is definitely worth a try.

Surprisingly good food & cocktails across the board. Definitely on the pricier side ($22 for a cocktail is a lot, even out here), and not the largest portions but you can order well and nurse one of their excellent Espresso Martinis for… a while.

Really enjoyed the tartare trio, dips, & stuffed eggplant, and the crab cake was great. Lovely service, great manager, and pleasant setting around sunset time. Will be back!

We screwed our OpenTable reservation but they handled it like champs. Found a spot for us and enjoyed a fabulous martini, crab cakes and a wedge salad. Mike the Bartender is a throwback to when it meant something to run a bar.

Wine WAY to overpriced!
My tuna tacos were delicious. Truffle burratta delicious, but a few slices of truffle would have aced it. And finally, I just don't understand why restaurants no longer serve delicious bread and butter (it's such an easy crowd pleaser)!

They offer an awesome range of fresh food. I love eating here. Staff members are always very friendly, rates are convenient and the place is always well organised.

The food was fine but needlessly overpriced for the quality level. My 7yo daughter had fries and a bare chicken breast grilled. Nothing on it and dry for $26. Wine we buy all the time for <$20 was $75/bottle. I would avoid this restaurant until their prices are a little more reasonable.

It has an outstanding outside area! The food is delicious, I had mozzarella di buffalo and prawns. Awesome service. Definitely one of best dinning experience in the Hamptons!

Worst place in the Hamptons. Despite the numerous positive reviews, I have to say, our experience there was horrible. The setting is nice, I’ll admit that. The live acoustic duo was also pleasant. Unfortunately that’s where it ends. Overall, the food was horrible, portions are small, extremely expensive (even for the Hamptons), and the wine and drink prices are ridiculous.the basic takeaway is that if you are going to pay those prices, there are WAY better options - Tutto, BVs, Pierre’s, Topping Rose, LuLu - literally anywhere else - and we’ve been to them all.

Our sever was pleasant, though it seemed like she was dying to turn the table over, though there appeared to be many openings see outdoors, even with the distancing restrictions.
The menu is pretty lean and has a mix of traditional Mediterranean fare.
We started with the saganaki, hard to screw up melted cheese. There wasn’t a lot of it, and maybe came with 6 little pita triangles. I would have ordered more yet the want and extra $2 for a piece of pita, so I passed.
The wine pricing is egregious, even for out here. $24 for a mediocre pour of Whispering Angel? Hey, I get it, restaurateurs need to make money, but please. $14-18 is pretty standard. While I’m at it, charge $10-12 for a Stella. It’s not that I’m cheap, I just don’t like getting gouged for no reason. Ok maybe if the place is amazing, but this isn’t a Thomas Keller restaurant.save the pricing
My wife Ordered the chicken paillard $36, I chose the branzino filet, $38. The food arrived quite quickly, her chicken and underwhelming sized piece of over-cooked rubberized chicken. The branzino was a skin on filet, Burt on the edges, and had an unappealing dirty taste to it. I thought it might have just been that I ate a piece close to the skin, but as I probed it, the entire filet had that awful dirty taste. This is one of my favorite Greek dishes - I order it often - this piece was just bad. We sent both back and decided we’d had enough. Again it’s not that I care all that much about the prices, but given the quality of the food, it is worth mentioning.
Suffice to say, we headed back into Bridge and split a perfectly done steak at Bobby Vans.
