One if by Land, Two if by Sea reviews
16They don't allow you to go thirsty here. Sure you'll pay for the water but you're gonna love the experience
I’ve only gone for drinks but love the atmosphere with the cozy fire and live pianist. My favorite is the Horse and Carriage Martini.
$492 for 2 of which $72 is a mandatory tip. Without a doubt the worst dinner of my life. Discount quality bread. The truffle risotto was a cheese sauce. Wellington fillet like a stone. I'm Italian, I know what I'm talking about. Shocked, I have no other words.
Now I understand why they call it the most romantic restaurant in NY! We celebrated our anniversary here and it was better than I expected. I can’t say I was blown away with the food, but doesn’t even matter. It was good and the menu was very different and creative.
But the atmosphere, the ambiance, the way they host you… Our server was wonderful, pleasant and friendly. The same was for the busboys and food runners. They also let us take our time with our meals, let us enjoy our night and our conversation, which I appreciate very much. For the end they brought us a dessert saying “happy anniversary” which really put smile on our faces. Highly recommended!
Waited 20 minutes after sitting down to get a drinks ordered taken, waited another 10 to just get the food menu (I caught the look in the servers face when he realized we were just sitting there waiting) Complimentary Bread service came by when we were already in our second course? I understand being understaffed sometimes, but the romantic experience just wasn’t there. We were cased down while leaving and asked to adjust our tip to 20%.
My favourite but its too romantic so careful who you go with, it might give the wrong sign
Great ambiance but the food and service were a letdown. Took over 20 minutes after we were seated to be offered water. Then,
another 15 - 20 minutes passed, so I had to "summon" a maitre d' to complain and have him get us a waiter to get our wine order taken. He stated that they were understaffed. When our wine order was taken our food order was also taken - only to find out that they were out of one of the three choices for dessert. (This was about 7: 30) When we were served, two of us had ordered the foie gras. One received two nice sized pieces and another only got one piece - less than 1/2 the size of the other order.
We have been to the restaurant before and based on our experiences (including last Thanksgiving) were looking forward to an enjoyable evening. That did not happen. Not sure we will give it another chance as there are many great restaurants in NYC.
PS: They add an automatic 25% gratuity which I decided not to fight although I I gave it some thought. Our meal pre-gratuity
was over $1,400.
First time I went was 2015 to celebrate our first anniversary. It was a nice memory, food, atmosphere, service…I went back again yesterday, to celebrate our 9th anniversary. However, I am very disappointed at the small portion of the food and yet with a very high price. (we were only given two options on the menu: fixed menu, $130 per person or a tasting menu, $180 per person). Food tasted fine, mediocre. I would much more appreciate it if it’s at a much lower price.
I very much second the comment by a previous reviewer here, that the restaurant’s environment is good, but food is really overpriced.
I have never seen such a bad restaurant! I made a reservation for 7: 00 and had to wait for another half hour when I arrived, and to top it off, many people who came after us went in first, and we were the last to be seated. We were the last to be seated and no one came for a long time after we were seated to pour water or give us menus.
Our server, Nicola was incredible. So attentive and very kind. The food was incredible as well! Highly recommend!
An amazing dining experience. Everything was 5 star. Staff was overwhelmingly accommodating. Perfect for a special date or occasion.
I love coursed meals and this looked interesting when I was traveling to NYC.
I am torn because many of the items were okay but not great on the course menu.
The Beef Wellington.lamb pasta, ceviche were very tasty. Other items on the course just lacked flavor or were not good.
The wine pairing that came along was spot on and perfect. Service was exactly as it should be, making guests feel like family.
I'm not certain I would ever go back, given the price tag for the value of what was offered. It was a unique experience in a romantic setting.
Way over priced for a burnt omelette and no brunch cocktails, especially since we pre-purchased tickets for a jazz event. Beautiful venue, just really disappointed.
An unforgettable dining experience. Staff were attentive, the food was sublime (especially the perfect beef wellington) and the atmosphere was perfect. It's no wonder it's one of the most romantic restaurants in the world.
One of the best meals I've ever had. Service was excellent and attentive. The duck was especially amazing but everything I tasted was delicious.
