Orion Diner & Grill reviews
18Food was great. We were between the French Toast and the Pancakes so got both - the French Toast was a home run. Shout out to Izzy our waiter for the great service and recommendations.
Waitress (forgot her name, very pretty, sounded like a Russian accent) was extremely accommodating. Had burger and fries. Sooooo GOOD!
The man that takes orders are so mean and rule not professional. I’ll never, never order from here again.
Way overpriced.
Egg white western omelet and home fries side turkey
$30 crazy
Overall, I give it a 5/5.
For food I would've put 4.5/5. My only issue is the panini I got, the bread was a bit overtoasted on the bottom, but not to the point where it was overpowering everything else. Everything else was great, nice atmosphere, friendly service, though in my opinion I think the prices for everything on the menu were a bit high, even though it's New York. I'm from Florida and we have prices that are at least 1/2 of most of everything on the menu.
I wish I could've stayed for dessert though, they all looked so good
I also want to thank the server/waiter for helping me find the subway I needed to get back to the airport.
My recent visit to Orion Diner left me thoroughly satisfied with both the culinary experience and the warm hospitality. Because it was late and I was not super hungry, I opted for a grilled cheese. They let me choose the cheese which was a very nice addition and I got mine with mozzarella (which is my favorite). My friend ordered a classic burger— a dish I've enjoyed on a previous visit. The presentation of the dishes was nothing fancy best, but the quality and taste was pretty pretty good.
I'm a native New Yorker, suffice it to say, we love a good diner. In fact if you've lived in NY, for any length of time, you know the local dinner in your neighborhood. If you're on 23rd and second avenue then you need to go to The Orion Diner & Grill and grab a bite to eat. I take my Mom after dental appointments at NYU dental School, and we enjoy any number of good dishes on the menu. I love, love, love this dinner. When you enter, you're greeted pleasantly and asked where you'd like to sit. The menu is a nice big "dinner menu" with tons of tasty choices. Now I love their burger choices, but they have lots of food to choose from. One of my favorites is this Texas burger with mushrooms, bacon, and pepperjack with a side order of steak cut fries. This dinner can accommodate my little 80-something Mom or a big boy like me. The food comes quickly, you know us New Yorkers, and then we settle down into the atmosphere and enjoy a meal slowly, every bite. Now it's a dinner on 23rd Street, so more than your seven dollar Mac combo, but that's what you pay for.the service, the food and the NY experience. So eat and be merry at one of my favorite spots in NY.
My tummy hurt and im gona fro up.if a girl named lily tells you this place is great don’t listen she had one good meal here three years ago and is bpd and cant let go she had a hard past few years and i think its an arbitrarily selected comfort spot she can’t let go of
The French toast was out of this world. The staff was very friendly and inviting. The place inside is a little snug, but they also have extra dining outside. Will definitely return.
Very rude staff and over charging and manager refused to charge correct price. Manner says I can not come back because I complained. Manner also says that she does not care about these reviews
Nice place with lots of seats. My mom and I both ordered the salads and the chicken was very dry. I couldn't even finish it, I brought it home but I ate the rest of the salad, not the chicken. Place was a bit pricey also being located in Manhattan. I'm sure if you order anything else it would be fine however. I noticed salads in the diners aren't that great.
Not a good place specially not for a vegetarian. I ordered a burger, that came without buns! Just lettuce, tomato and patty. And they charge 16$ for that!
Cute diner. Food was okay. Good hang out place for my friends and I. Staff was pretty attentive and definitely friendly. My wrap that I ordered was pretty bland. Nothing I would order again. Probably wouldn't even order a wrap again next time because it just not a good meal overall. It was okay.
Was walking from Tudor City- magically beautiful at night- after hair services at (Rh Plus Salon on 3rd and 50th which couldn’t have been lovelier) stopped at this old school diner outpost (felt that way at night). Had a meat entree special which was amazingly delicious and fresh. $32 included appetizer, side, soda, tax, tip.
There is a fast taking guy who takes orders for delivery. He is very rude. There are items that are missing from my orders on a continual basis. When I call, he never accepts responsibility for messing the order up, and tries to argue with you. Just got two orders of pancakes with no butter, no syrup, no utensils. They are a good spot if you eat there, but don't order delivery!
I always eat here after my visit to the VA hospital. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. The M15 & M15 Select bus is right there.
Read some of the other reviews prior to going and was a bit skeptical. However we were so glad we went! The staff was the most friendly staff we've encountered in a long time. Waiter, owner, everyone was awesome. Had breakfast and everything came out perfect and quick. Even checked out the bathrooms and they were extremely clean. If you're in the are go check Orion out, you'll love it.
This place is shady and way overpriced. Watch out, because they might include the tip automatically to the original check, without telling you, and then fool you into tipping again, while signing off.
Also, $18 for an omelette is crazy.
