Pacific Aquarium & Plant reviews
20This store is an amazing resource for aquarium hobbyists with wonderful knowledgeable staff members, such as Julie! She guided me around the store, and we had a wonderful chat, while my siblings bought some of their wonderfully cared for plants and aquarium equipment. Everyone in the store is great, and the store itself is also great!
Great selection of freshwater and saltwater fish. The staff is very knowledgeable about fishkeeping, and had no problem helping me. Come here instead of Petco.
I was amazed when I walked in. The beautiful selections of fishes and aquarium plus natural plants and sea rocks, I was an awe. The customer service was/is 5 star. The business owner made it so comfortable and even talked to us. I loved it Thank you so much for making the experience a delight I definitely will be going back!
Terrible service from one of the workers there idk her name but all I did was start a conversation about how I was having trouble maintaining my tank and once I told her what I was doing she started yelling at me making me feel stupid like relax I am not an expert, and the worst part the store was pretty full so Ofcouse I was embarrassed and at the end she called me a fish killer, I liked the store but now I don’t ever want to come back!
This shop was once the best in nyc, but now is rundown and very overpriced for what it is. The prices were always ridiculous but they were more warranted when they were at the top of their game in the fish hobby. The plants look sad now - they used to have a small and healthy tank section. The co2 tank of plants doesn’t look like it’s seen co2 in a while. There used to be amazing small and large show tanks that showed a great level of skill and pride. Now they are gone or very diminished. I suspect this is the result of online fish and plant shops taking over and cutting out hobby shops and big box stores like petco union square stepping up their fish game over time. I know I definitely shop online for stuff more than I go to shops anymore. It makes me sad to see this shop in such decline but I guess this is what happened to many stores - small and department stores - as online pushed in. I would not be surprised if this shop announced a closure, and in a way it would be better than seeing it this rundown.
The fish selection is pretty good but be careful if you’re buying. Some of the fish had ich, fin rot, or a swim bladder disease. The plant selection is a little boring and there aren’t too many good pieces of hardscape for smaller tanks. The main takeaway is that the prices are extremely inflated. I bought a item that is originally $17 online and it came down to $28 in store!
I came in for help packing my axolotl for overnight shipping. The staff is super experienced, caring, and went above and beyond helping to make sure my axolotl was gently packaged and protected. They only charged $5 for an insulated box with ice and enough oxygen to last 36 hours. Thank you!
I was looking for a fish store and stumbles across this one it seems a little pricey. I'm also broke.lol
Love coming here and shopping local. The staff are very knowledgeable and care deeply for the hobby. It’s a little out of the way for me, but I choose Pacific Aquarium over any of the other aquarium shops in NYC (and definitely not the big box shops!).
I got 3 mystery snails, 2 plants (pennywort and amazon sword plant). They don't have any issues and are thriving without me quaratining them beforehand. I trust this place the most out of all the local fish stores.
Almost forgot to mention, I got them 20% a deal that was storewide and they advertised on their Instagram and facebook page. The deal lasted throughout the weekend. Also the owner told said he was getting new shipment before the deal. I think the deal will come back. I just wish I got some shrimps when it was on sale. I would say keep looking at their insta/fb.
Great place for fish! It’s huge with a big selection. The little fountain in the front is cool. I’ve been here a couple times and it always seems packed so it can be tricky to get a workers attention. They’re friendly and knowledgeable about the fish and inquire about your setup and give advice on feeding and care. I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often.
The manager and staff was very knowledgeable about the compatible fish species to use to create the aquarium community.
Clean, well organized, fish are well taken and stocked, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great store and great staff. Large selection or guppies - female and male.
A nice place on the lower east side If you are interested in fish tanks and exotic fishes nice place to go staff. Is very knowledgeable and friendly
Wonderful customer service and etiquette. Incredible selection of fish and exotic aquarium animals. Also they have fresh fishing bait and a varied assortment of fishing gear and tackle.
Really great staff, educated and knows what they’re doing. I always ask for advice and they never disappoint. Great selection of snails and shrimps. I love the wood and rocks they’re too.
Stopped by today and the saltwater fish are waaaaayyyy over price 100 dollars for a coral beauty is absolutely insane shop at your own risk
A wide variety of beautiful fish, and really cool people to take care of you. This is the place to go!
The most comprehensive aquarium shop in NYC. Open until 7. The worker there are very knowledgable on all things fish related and very helpful as well as courteous. The prices are higher but u get supreme commissioner service with it.
The only aquarium store I trust, they have been an enormously important resource for me getting into the hobby. You learn quick that most pet stores don’t know anything about anything as far as keeping aquariums but everyone who works here can actually steer you in the right direction.
