Papillon Bistro & Bar reviews
16 As far as the Christmas decorations I would give it a 10/10.
Went for lunch and the food and service was very poor. Waiter was rude and took forever to get served. Before we even finished eating they came around and started clearing plates while we still had food on them. It’s a tourist trap and very overpriced for what you get.
We were looking for a good Christmas bar, and this place nails it. Awesome decorations throughout the bar. The cocktails and apps were good. Sometimes bartender was tough to get a hold of, but it was a very busy time.
Horrible service. Main courses unavailable. Food was half delivered to table. Shameful. Totally not reccomended for food or service. I walked out without eating after 45 min in the restaurant.
Took 1.5 hrs from sitting down to receive entrees (no appetizers ordered). Server brought a “comped” glass of wine that wasn’t ordered and charged us for it. It took so long to even get the bill that we were happy to put the evening to an end.
Great atmosphere, nice decoration. The food is not exactly French as the name implies. Nevertheless the croque monsieur tasted great. I wished they had a croque madame for the same price
The restaurant is beautifully decorated in the Christmas spirit, and that is the only positive here. The waiter and bartender were very rude and the food is bad. The only thing worth coming here for a drink is because of the decorations and the atmosphere, but everything else is a waste of time and money.
We watched a family of four get sat at a high top when the hostess clearly saw the couple had an infant. When the couple asked to move, they said they didn't have anything else. We waited over an hour to get sat and were tood they only had a table by the front door when we requested to sit upstairs. The hostess claimed there was an event upstairs and they only had a few tables. After waiting AGAIN, we finally sat upstairs and there were MULTIPLE tables open and a private event behind a sliding door. Server was far from personable. The experience is great but the people who work there are NOT. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Food was lousy servers weren't great. Looks cool with the Christmas decor but that's about all we liked about this place
Worst experience possible. They were able to ruin my wife's birthday. Our drinks arrived 40 minutes after we ordered. The food was cold, which indicates was there waiting for quite some time; they were also having a private event at the same time and it seems the focus of the service was there. We didn't leavebecause it was late and we could not find another place to celebrate the birthday. I hope it was just a bad day
The decor is crazy! I liked it a lot!
We went there for lunch special (lunch and beer or glass of wine for $19.95) and we were sitting at the bar. Food, drinks and service was good.
Beautiful decor, great drinks. Awful service and below average food.
Looks like there is a lot of disorganization from a staffing and table set up perspective, so not really the service staff’s fault more so how they manage and organize their tables.
Ps. There’s no option for leaving less than 20% tip.
The best thing about this restaurant is the decorations. The food online was not what was available. We were given a very small menu and then upon ordering find out the thing we wanted was out. I ordered a medium burger that came well done. Glasses sat empty with no refills.
One of NYC’s hidden gems for Christmas decor! Tons of tinsel and ornaments adorn this old fashioned bistro, and the food is so good you will come here year round! Take a holiday card worthy pic on the staircase for the best view!
Great ambiance. The food was amazing.
The service needs a lot of work. The server treated our party like we were an inconvenience to her.
I came for the Christmas Decoration, which was beautiful. The food was ok! Service needs to improve.
This place is absolutely unreal when it comes to the Christmas decor that they have. If you want a great place to take your date or family or even colleagues to embraces the Christmas spirit. Papillon is certainly the place to be. Their drinks are pretty good (although a little upsetting they don't have Christmas focused drinks like Miracle on 9th street does) and their food is mediocre. It's hard not to give this place a good review when you know you are truly coming here for the Christmas experience.
