Park Slope Armory YMCA reviews
19The only time I have been inside was for early voting, which was the best voting experience I have had! I want to say thank you for that and especially for your attention to keeping the sidewalks shoveled and iced this winter. I live on 14th st and your team is always the first ones out there making sure the commute for everyone is as safe as possible. I know it isn’t an easy job, so wanted to say Thank you!
This afternoon 1/11/21 workers did not do a good job monitoring the amount of people on thw basketball court. Is the max 3 or 4? Most of the time there were 5 or 6 people on the court and not all of them wearing mask correctly
It was great to be there to cast your vote the line was long but it was fast out my whole life living in parkslope that's my first time in the Armory amazing time
I love this YMCA. I have frequently used the indoor track, weight room, cardio room, and taken a few Yoga classes. The staff are always friendly. My only complaint is that the track can become crowded some evenings with children, but they're just there to have fun and enjoy the amenities. I can't wait for it to reopen!
The small weight room is always cold. Even when it's 30 degrees outside, the fan is running in full speed with the windows cracked open.
This is a very chill environment. I would strongly recommend going here to work out quietly or play basketball with other players.
So much potential but the staff are lackluster so say the least and the whole place is basically a giant day care center. Theres always kids all over the place unattended and where they shouldn't be like in the middle of the running track or under a basketball hoop. They run classes on the basketball courts when there's 3 empty workout rooms they would be using to be much more efficient. The web site had zero information on what is scheduled each day so you just have to show up & hope that the basketball courts or running track are available. Even when you call or ask someone in person about the schedule it seems like nobody knows what the hell is going on. The thing is that its not even cheap! You guys really need to lift your game if you want to retain members and noit just run a day care facility.
A very cool re-purposing of an old armory. The large open area makes for a big indoor track with spots for basketball. The staff is helpful and the child care is great. The down side is there isn’t a ton of equipment and there isn’t a real locker room. For a limited but affordable Y, this is a great place.
This YMCA is so racist against Latinos you have to be a hipster so they can like you in this place the hell with Park Slope. If your Spanish or black to not going to this YMCA.
Chaotic place. People run in either direction. BTW, be careful and watch where you step because too many kids are present at any given time. No locker room, basically, you will need to change clothes in restrooms and place your stuff in locker which is outside.terrible experience! However, if you want to just run, there is a Prospect Park! Just change in YMCA, leave your stuff, and head on to Prospect Park!
The Armory is a great place for adult classes! Lots to choose from for all levels of intensity and ages. As a fit senior there's everything from (AOA) Cardio to Tai Chi with excellent instructors. My partner loves Spin, Pilates and Vinyasa yoga. We've been members for years. Great community place.
It is rly annoying how they always lower the rims on the hoops for little kids who dont even know how to play but otherwise it’s fine
Overcrowded waste of space staff is incredibly rude camps there are not a very wide array of options overall a dissapointment
Great location for group classes: Yoga, Zumba, Cross fit, spin & more. Free weight room & treadmills. The Drill Hall has been transformed into an indoor running track with basketball hoops units center. Ping Pong tables. Day care & loads of classes, programs for kids. No showers. Bike racks.
This YMCS is housed in a great, vintage armory, with a airplane hangar- sized running track/basketball court, and multiple rooms for yoga, Zumba, aerobics and weights. The halls are lined with beautiful glass fronted wooden cabinets. There's even a quaint military museum on the premises. Only downside is: they're no showers.
The place for excellent shotokan karate training with world renowned senseis - available for both kids and adults. Otherwise, the pluses include an indoor track, and the basics in terms of weight training room, cardio room and weight room. Major plus is the ability to go here and let your kids run around and meet up with other kids and families, making it a great community spot. The negatives are that it can be crowded and there are no showers.
We're at the armory roughly 4-5 times a week. Terrific value, great facility, friendly staff. Deeply indebted to Coach Chrissy for the Sunday morning pickup soccer from 8-10 am. It's a huge part of our week!
This place is an incredibly special place and provides an incredibly safe haven for my family to spend quality time together over the weekend and after school. Also in the town with little space to run around indoors - its such a saving grace for our entire family.
There is this JERK there named Marcus at the front desk. He's an absolute idiot who treats all the teenagers horriblely and threatens to throw them out for playing a pick up basketball game. My children go there and came home crying because he scared the crap out THEM. This is NOT A PLACE I want them to be around if that Marcus JERK is there. He should be fired! He's like 50 years old according to my kids with a man bun.
