The best care, the best team. I had all of my prenatal appointments with them and during my labor and delivery, they went above and beyond. They are nice, compassionate, understanding, and non judgmental, which is really appreciated in such an important life milestone.

I had an incredible experience with PSM. Not only did I feel seen, heard and cared for but the midwives were extremely knowledgeable and made my pregnancy as well as my delivery as seamless as they could. Each midwife was very sweet and treated me super nicely. In particular, Danielle was so amazing from day 1 and ultimately delivered my baby, which I’m so grateful for! She was extremely kind and was always thorough in her explanation of things. I had a birth plan that she honored and that meant a lot to me. I would absolutely use PSM again for another birth.

I had a really traumatizing birth 20 months ago with Park Slope midwives. I was really hoping for a great, mostly natural holistic birth, and my experience was the opposite. My appointments were mostly fine, but at 41 weeks, my water broke after the routine ultrasound. I called and let the midwife know when they then told me that my ultrasound showed my son was maybe 12-13 lbs and they recommended a c section. I asked how “off” the ultrasound can be, and they said 1 pound in either direction, so the baby would be at least 11 pounds. I went to the hospital for them to check my stomach and the lead midwife (an older woman) checked my cervix and THEN told me I was not dialated and they’d need to induce me in the next 12 hours because she had touched my cervix. Had I known that ahead of time, I would not have let her touch me. The thing I was scared of most was an emergency c section, so I went ahead with the c section since being induced often leads to emergency c sections.

Since my c section wasn’t planned, I didn’t have enough water or food before waiting. Then when they did the c section, they didn’t honor any of my birth plan. The midwife was a young blonde woman. She kept saying they’d do delayed chord clamping, put the baby on my chest, etc, but when my son was born they immediately cut the chord and put him in the incubator. I understand I was too shaky from the epidural for skin to skin but they should have put him on my husbands chest.

Next, my son was almost 9 lbs and no one bat an eye.

Then I was in post op, awake, all night. The young blonde mid wife kept saying she would come back to help with breastfeeding etc, and she never did. The nurse on duty was rude and too busy to offer any help. They wouldn’t let me leave post op because I was too dehydrated but they wouldn’t give me water. Hmmm quite the conundrum. After many hours, they realized they hadn’t even given me ice chips. I was starving and thirsty and no one cared, they just offered me fentanyl every 20 minutes which I kept declining because I needed water and food.

20 months later and I am in therapy in part due to this incredibly difficult and traumatizing experience.

If you go this route, get a doula. I will be absolutely be attempting a home birth next time with a doula and a hospital near by.

I cant even tell you how incredible the midwives are, especially Laura coogan, she turned what was bound to be a hellish birth into the most incredible beautiful and peaceful birth. I never ever thought a labour and delivery room could have such a calm, positive and happy environment and the follow up care was beyond amazing, sitting and helping me latch my baby in the middle of the night, really incredible!

I had such a positive experience delivering with Park Slope Midwives. Every midwife was caring and knowledgeable, they work with a great OB, and the midwife who ended up delivering my daughter really advocated on my behalf throughout the whole experience. Really recommend if you’re trying to deliver closer to home in Brooklyn, as was the case for me.

The Parkslope Midwives are a group of wonderful woman who dedicate their time to delivering your child in the safest way possible with as much support as possible. They are encouraging of vaginal birth and would not suggest C-section unless medically necessary. They are always listening to your desires and needs. I had both of my children at Methodist hospital through the Parkslope midwives and it’s the best decision I have made. Everyone I have recommended to them sings their praises as well.

I have to say being referred to park slope midwives was the best thing that ever happened to me. From the time I found out I was pregnant to the time I was sent to the hospital. They held my hand the whole way. And being a new mom you honestly don’t know what to expect but they was there ALL THE TIME! If you want that support and love and care this is truly the place to go!

I've been going to Park Slope Midwives for 22 years. They helped deliver my 2nd child c section. They are ao helpful and listen to your concerns. Recently I had an appointment with a newer midwife, Julia and she was just as caring and thorough as everyone in the past. Grateful to have them as partners in my health care.

As I lay here in the hospital watching my 1.5 day old baby girl sleep, I have to say if you’re thinking about using Park Slope Midwives- do it!
I switched from a local OBGYN at 30 weeks and it was 100% the best decision of my and my baby’s life. Since I joined the practice late, the receptionist did a great job of helping me meet (nearly) every midwife throughout my appointments to 40 weeks.

As a first-time mom, I was relieved that each midwife was extremely caring, kind, non-judgmental, patient and intelligent. As a scientist that works in healthcare, I loved that each midwife was very well-versed in the literature and data and could easily explain answers to my questions while delving deeper where needed. All the midwives are pretty funny, quirky, and welcoming too, which made bonding with each midwife very easy as they showed you their personalities and didn’t put up a wall of steel like so much of the medical industry.

To put a 52-hour labor short, my labor did not go as I anticipated or dreamed, however I’m still so thrilled with my experience and that’s wholly due to my midwives. They explained each treatment decision and their recommendation clearly, respected the decision I made, and got me and baby safely and happily to where we are now. Special thanks to Shannon for showing me the final labor position I used that got baby out!

Park Slope Midwives for life.

I don't recommend this practice at all!
For starters, every time I called with a question it took a very long time until I received a call back. When I did finally get a midwife on the phone the answer was always " Go check yourself out in the ER"
(and this happened a couple of times). I do understand that it is their responsibility and they want to play it safe, but as professionals they should know when it is necessary to go the the ER and when they can just check me out in their office- as it always turned out to be nothing.
The one time that there was an issue, they tested me and said it was nothing, but my regular pediatrician found the issue and gave me medication for it.
I felt it was neglectful.
When I finally made the decision to leave, it took two weeks for them to finally give me my medical records.
So glad I made the change.

Used PS Midwives to have my first child and will be using them for my second. They are a lovely group of caring women, my labor was long and they were patient and let my baby come naturally! Wonderful place
