They really need to get their management in check. My massage itself was amazing! However, when I got there there were two customers who had made an appt, but the person they spoke to never wrote it down.

In the middle of my massage, an unhappy customer walked in who wanted to speak to someone, but it was busy and everyone working was in the middle of a massage. As a result, my therapist had to leave the room— twice! — to talk to this unhappy customer. The two customers proceeded to speak loudly to each other even after they spoke to my therapist— twice.

Someone left the door to the spa open and they said that was fine, resulting in me being freezing for the rest of my massage.

It’s a no frills massage place and you can hear everyone around you. The staff talk to each other through the rooms. Customers loudly talk to each other as well.

Overall, an amazing massage affected by lack of professionalism by the staff and their own customers.

. For the record, I’d still go back, but would try to go at the least busiest time possible.

The entire experience was a mess. I made an appointment for 2: 30pm, they call last minute and change it to 3: 00pm (which is not a huge difference but still inconvenient). I show up at 3, and nobody is there, 10 minutes pass and the guy finally shows up opening a sketchy downstairs area telling me I have to pay a service fee upfront even though I paid with Groupon. Fine I pay the fee. I go in for the massage and the entire time the person massaging me is hurting me, not being attentive to when I literally say ouch or ask for softer. (I came home with literal bruises on my lower back). The “hot stones” that were suppose to be a part of the deal were used for 30 seconds and tossed away only to lead to more pricking fingers. At the end the masseuse tossed my legs aggressively up and let them drop rather hard on the bed shocking me multiple times. When I go the leave the guy is waiting outside for a tip, I hand him what I think is reasonable for the subpar massage and he tried stopping me saying “no you have to pay $50, the tip is $50” where I laughed and explained to him I already paid $50 for the massage and I was not paying $50 for the tip, and certainly not paying over $100 all together for a terrible experience. At that he tisked and said whatever telling me to leave, so I did. And will not be coming back. I am in a lot of pain, and just don’t want anyone else to go through that. Left worse off than I came.

Horrible painful massage. The guy used all his force, elbows and every thing on my body where this felt like torture and not relaxation. I was flinching, moving my body away, told him this is very painful, and he continued doing the same thing. At the end, instead of gently patting my body to increase blood flow, he almost hit me with those violent pats. Never ever go here! The place also looks very unclean, and clearly the workers have no clue what they are doing. I hope this place shuts down!

AVOID!
Was visiting nyc with for the weekend, decided to get a massage with my girlfriends. We made an appointment at 3: 30 on a Saturday. Went into the downstairs area to meet the masseuse. They told us to head upstairs so we did. I didn't get a preference on if I wanted a woman or a man. I had a male masseuse. At first massage seem to go well but after five minutes the masseuse was extremely rough on my shoulders neck and back after I told him multiple times less pressure he continued to aggressively massage me. After I start tensing up and telling him less pressure - he said I'm so sorry but continued to aggressively massage my back. Then he told me to turn around on my back which I did. And he started to massage my inner thighs which I thought was really uncomfortable- did not feel good at all. After the massage I was extremely sore even worse than when I came in. Two days later I noticed multiple bruise spots on my upper back mid back and buttocks area post massage. Avoid this massage parlor at all costs not sure if the training is not properly done correctly or they're just having people come off the street to massage customers.

I absolutely love this place! The women and the men are all so skilled and they are careful not to hurt you and massage your bones and joints, which I’ve discovered some less skilled places often do, leaving you in some real pain. I always feel like a fresh person afterwards and come here about once a week!

I liked this place, the massage was great, and the place is clean. However, after the masseur convinced me of getting the longest massage they offer, he waits until the end of the session to tell me the tip is based on length of massage. When I arrived there the woman behind the counter just so happen to be standing in front of that sign. I've been to quite a lot of massage parlors and never heard that rule before, usually you can give the amount of tip you want. Its was slightly annoying but I just wish he would of told me ahead of time.

Very affordable vouchers on Groupon for massages. I have been to this location and the other on 102th. They do a decent job but I do think the ladies at the 102th St location are much better.

I mostly have good experiences at this place. Once had a weird interaction about using a CC but I have had fewer issues at this place than other local massage places.

I initially called a few months ago to schedule my massage and the man who answered hung up on me the both times I called. I was put off by that so much that I forgot my groupon was going to expire until this past week. I was finally able to get an appointment scheduled and came in. Initially, I was happy they took me ahead of my appointment time. But the experience wasn't the best.

Pros

The HOT stone was EPIC
The massage around my neck was PERFECT- I never knew how tense I was there.

Cons

The check in and where you get your massages are in two separate locations. The stairs to get downstairs are short and are painful for anyone with a knee surgery. I'm still feeling the pain in my knees days later. It's not spacious. Very close in. N you can see other people getting massages when you walking by to get to ur own space. Very uncomfortable.

My masseuse during my massage wasn't very friendly or personable. I didn't even know her name. My head was pushed into the table before she eventually getting me a pillow. I felt like I was suffocating plus it was so hot in there. In addition, she kept walking out every few minutes so it didn't feel like I recieve my full massage.

At the end, they offered me water after asking me if I wanted to charge my tip to credit card. Shouldn't you ask me about water first? I politely declined, paid the tip in cash and quickly left. The massage wasn't horrible but it wasn't the best. The ambiance wasn't to my liking and neither was the customer service. I'm grateful they honored my groupon on the last day but now I'm wondering if I should have just taken the lost as I'm not the happy with overall service.

Massage was great. Place is clean. You go in on the down stairs level and sign in and fill out a form. Then that take you to the upstairs level to area where they give the body massages.

I did not have a pleasant experience at the 96th street location. The three employees who were there were chatting with each other very loudly (and in another language) the entire time. It really made the whole experience non-relaxing. Also - the atmosphere was unpleasant in that even at 3 pm, there were multiple containers of old, open food sitting out right by me. Overall the massage was good, not great, and the ambience was terrible.

I love this brand new branch of Talking Body Works. I've been to the one near Columbus Circle twice, and this location is by far my favorite. I had a great 75 minute massage at a sweet discounted price. I left behind my tension and aches on the massage table.
