Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space reviews
5I wish I could leave negative stars. We had tickets to see Helen Jane Long tonight but were turned away at the door because my wife and I aren't covid boosted. We booked tickets for the show two months ago and at the time only being vaccinated and wearing a mask was required. On March 1st they updated their policy to require the booster however they didn't have the decency to notify anyone of the change, so we were turned away even though we had our vaccine cards and masks. Masks and vaccines are no longer mandated by NYC so I don't understand why they would require a booster even though it was never required by the local health department. We are sorely disappointed to miss the show and will be filing a complaint about the failure to notify us of the policy change with the better business bureau. We are disgusted with how this was handled and will not be back.
Weirdest theater experience to date, tonight, at Symphony Space - and not in the good sense. The front lobby staff was so oddly rude to a family member with limited English proficiency we started recording it - from odd phrases used to aggressive body language, about as unwelcoming as we could have imagined. We ended up eating at a diner around the corner, and singing for the others at the table instead.
They seem to think it is still March 2020. Despite only allowing vaccinated individuals in the building no food and no beverage is offered.
Pick a lane. Let everyone in or treat us like we are safe.
More than a month waiting for a refund… still no answer. Why is it taking so long?
Great venue, good acoustics, comfortable and reasonably roomy seating. Men's restroom, at least, is of an appropriate capacity.
The decor is a little dated, perhaps, and some of the seating is a little on the shabby side. But a nice venue overall.
