When you expect to have a nice leisurely dinner because it is advertised as an " upscale" Chinese restaurant, and you had a reservation when they opened, with only three other customers in the place, and you are rushed to the point of everything being on the table at the same time, something is terribly wrong!
It was my birthday, and I had planned to go there for months before. We were so disappointed, and my girlfriend to the point of being angered, as the staff seemed to be only concerned with getting us out of there. Not to mention that her wine glass was empty before the appetizers came out, and not one of three or four server's, asked if she wanted another one. The little food we ate was good, but filling a table with everything you ordered at one time, on a tiny two top, and having to put the light on the table next to us so that the food could be crammed on our table is, and was a very upsetting, and unnecessary lack of a dining experience.
I also found it interesting that you demand a certain dress code, but yet anyone else seated while we were there we dressed exactly the way you described, you didn't want to see. Time to change your website with that, and maybe you should consider putting in a drive thru, because that's about how we felt. So disappointing, and sad
Happy Birthday to me. NOT!

The excellent service and trendy atmosphere helped, but the food was not good. Calamari was hard and chewy. Crab legs lacked flavor. My neighborhood Chinese is much better and 10% of the price.

Food was amazing but the service was not good. Maybe because it was a busy Saturday night (shouldn’t be an excuse). Reservations for 8: 00pm to dine in turned out to be 9: 00 dine outside. Mind you it was my birthday reservation. Didn’t get the birthday cake experience. Food took long to arrive outside which was served cold. Overall food was delicious but I wish we were treated better. The entrance was crowded an absolute chaos. Won’t come to this location again.

First time at Philippe’s and everything was 10/10. The ambiance, the service etc. The attentiveness of all of the servers and staff (especially Mike who took our order) was great! They checked in on us often but not in an annoying way. The Watermelon Margarita was so good and the food was delicious! Will be returning.

3rd time here. I decided to give it another try since I haven’t been in a while. Appearance and waiters were great. As for the food not good value for money. I’ve had better food for way less than what I spent.

Mediocre at best. Definitely not good value for money. The barbecue pork butt was $43! (I chopped it into small pieces and added it to the fried rice) the green beans were mushy and the chicken was dry. I chopped it up into a small pieces and added it to the fried rice. The fried rice was the only thing that was pretty good, but even that I think was $28! So, very expensive and not very good.

I feel PC is no longer using the same Chef or recipes as they did before Covid… But that is just my opinion - the quality has absolutely gone out the back door. I have been visiting this restaurant for more than 10 years; I’m not a stranger to the quality of the food as it used to be.

THIS reviewer will no longer try one more time at Philippe Chow. The last three times have all been subpar (to be kind).

There are far too many amazing restaurants in New York City to be bothered with a restaurant that doesn’t appear to care about the quality of the product it is serving.

We came for my Mom’s birthday. Wow we definitely expected more! The food was below average. I’ve had better at any local Asian spot. The service was decent. The atmosphere was okay, but it felt like you were having dinner with everyone. There is no privacy as your tables are so close to each other and the booth styles all connect to each other which leaves very little room for your purse even. Very weird and off putting setup. No sense of intimacy. The tipping point which ensured we’d never return was when we went into the bathroom. We seen several roaches in the sink. How disgusting. Never again. Completely overhyped and overrated.

This has entered my top 3 restaurants I have ever dined in at. The atmosphere had such an amazing dark, cozy, and luxury feel. The waiters/servers/attendees take care of you all in their unique way. They’re always attentive and on the lookout for anyone that needs anything or has a mess on the table. The food was top quality and presentable. My favorite part was them being the first restaurant to hand me a clean HOT towel to wipe my dirty hands with. This was just an amazing experience that changed my view on restaurants!

I came to Phillipe for a friend’s birthday dinner with a group of 6 people and we had a great time! We got an assortment of appetizers and entrees to share amongst us and each dish was excellent! We also got a dessert platter with 3 cake slices, ice cream, and fresh fruit which was delicious! Very friendly and accommodating service from the manager and waiters. Highly recommend coming here for any special occasions or dinner!

The cozy place, the exceptional service and the best food, the Peking duck, the lobster fried rice, the ribs, the soup and the drinks, everything makes it an experience that I want to repeat

Unsophisticated food for the price. We ordered a chicken satay: delicious peanut sauce, but nothing more; Wok-fried beef dumpling: horrible, hard and thick dough, the meat looked like frozen hamburger; Vegetable Lo-mein: salty, tasteless, few vegetables and looks like fast food. Bad restaurant.

This is a ridiculous, horrible establishment. This may have been a shining star back in the day but, that star has faded. Overpriced, tepid service & a litany of social media wannabes photographing food at an incessant rate. It would be best for you to go to Queens and explore Chinatown.

You know how some luxury restaurants serve very little, with over priced food, and not even fulfilling. Well this place is the opposite. The food is big portions, high quality, great taste and good prices. I recommend getting one small portion to share of whatever you want. Because it is big. This food is a great place to eat at when you’re hungry! It will definitely fulfill you. Great atmosphere and good service.
Dress code is not straight, just avoid hoodies and sporty wear. Street parking is very difficult

My family and I had a great dining experience at this place. Few blocks away from Central Park lower east corner. Food and service were just perfect. We ordered 4 apps to share all of which were lovely (calamari, scallion pancakes, chicken dumplings,) and chicken flat noodle dish were right on.
We will def return.
Highly recommend

It was the loveliest dining experience I've had in a long while. To celebrate my friend's birthday, we both had dinner here. The ambience, food & service is top-notch, absolutely exceptional. The staff even sang Happy Birthday & had a little candle incorporated with her dessert. It was so sweet & made the night even more special. Definitely going back on my next visit to NY.

The food amazing. I usually don't eat chicken breast, cz most of the time it's dry. But they made it soo juicy. And the sauce delicious. Definitely going back there.
