Phil's Stationery reviews
11What a treasure! The day I visited this place it was organized chaos and fabulous! Vintage finds left and right, and new items galore! The staff and owner were incredibly helpful and I feel lucky that I had the opportunity to visit this place. A New York staple since 1973…️
Yay! This place is still in business. Old school type of place. Doesn’t look like much inside but they sell quality products. Haven’t been back in NYC for a few years. Always come here for ClaireFontaine paper products.
I DON’T TYPICALLY DO REVIEWS BUT THE GUY THAT WORKS THERE IS VERY HELPFUL AND NICE. WILL BE BACK FOR ANOTHER CALENDAR NEXT YEAR!
Absolutely love shopping at Phils. Old school stationary, fine pens, notebooks. In fact I am coming back to New York despite the Covid Vax requirements just to shop at Phils!
Very kind owner! Visited for the first time a month ago and owner gave me a discount, he’s very sweet and i’m excited to go back.good prices and a nice selection of paper goods and books:) i’ll be buying more sketchbooks from there again!
Visited for the first time in 2019 and loved it - like everyone else said, the place is vintage, true city shopping. It has what you're looking for, no frills, absolutely perfect.
I vote 5 stars because I am allowed to stay 4 hours after school each day. This is only because my dad works for the place every day.
I received such memorably warm and helpful assistance from the store owner that I'm still compelled to write about it over TWO YEARS after receiving it. I just ran across the business card that I picked up from there and immediately remembered how kind this gentleman was. I recommend anyone who reads this and needs any type of printing services to patronize this establishment. You honestly won't regret it and from what I remember - they deserve it!
Refused to sell to me on mercari because I wouldn't spend thousands of dollars just to "reassure" them. Egotistical control freak.
I'm sorry I was not impressed with this place at all. I went to the store like another user based on the rating and that it was near my job. The place looks like it needs to be condemned. How can anyone do business in that condition? It is unacceptable to me. Given the condition of the store there was no way I could trust the quality of the products that I saw were covered in dust and dirt especially the envelopes and paper on the shelves and on a nearby rack. Mr. Phil, please find a way to upgrade your store. It's not safe nor inviting.
Thanks to my stationery friend who introduced me to this place or else, I would probably never venture in. I was looking for Dennison labels (as most of the stationery/journalers are) and Fred was able to help me look for them. He even went down to the basement to look for them. Super sweet guy!
Yes, this place is one hell of a mess and dusty AF but honestly, it brings me so much joy to find a hidden gem underneath it all! My friend found a super cute vintage roller stamp and I walked away with a vintage tag, pencils, Dennison labels, vintage airmail and address labels.
I went once and I will definitely be coming back!
