Pikine reviews
19This place has some great reviews so I took the train from the furthest end of Brooklyn to try the Senegalese food. They open at Noon; I arrived at 1PM; the woman at the counter points to the cook stirring rice in the back and tells me no food will be ready ‘til 2PM. Turned around and traveling 1 hour 20 minutes back home disappointed. If you’re nearby; maybe you’ll luck up and get to try the food. Don’t go out of your way to get here though because they may not be ready to serve you.
If you wanna eat african delicious food, i recommend you to go to PIKINE. The food is so delicious. Trust me
I live eating senegalese dish there. It is always very tasty. I would recommend the thiep djeun for the first timers.
We came on Saturday at 3: 30, there were only certain items from the menu available but the Thiebou Yapp (lamb stew) and Thiebou Guinar were great. Lots of food. I really liked how there was a bit of crispy rice on all the dishes and olive / onion sauce. Good price, small place but we were able to get seated tho it was crowded.
This place isn't really clean, tables were dirt when we arrive. Staff was unprofessional.
I went there to celebrate my 56th birthday the food was so good I had tge lamb dibbi portions are generous food is perfectly seasoned & staff is polite & welcoming. Ill be back.
Delicious food, generous portions. I highly recommend, however the place is small.time to expand
I've dined here alone several times, but have stopped because either the waitress places the check on my table before I'm done or I've had to practically beg for a menu. No more. The food is not that good to withstand the mistreatment.
Great food. Service was quick. They just need to move to a bigger location.
Hair on utensils on 2nd visit
Add the fish and the lamb. I wish we had more meat but overall it was a great experience. I would recommend coming either at dinner or time or lunch time we came in between and they didn’t have much option.
Authentic delicious food in a lively, welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant was full of people from West Africa, chatting, waiting for their food to go, as well as sitting down and enjoying it. This place is a real find. I recommend the lamb and cassava but the chicken was delicious as well. A true NYC experience in the best sense of that. Very reasonable prices too.
While the food was great, the environment is not appealing. Too dark but worst too much garbage attracting rats right in front of the restaurant.
Awesome restaurant, and the food is seriously food. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out.
My husband said this was the best Rice dish he's eaten since leaving his native country Senegal
Very rude on the phone and shows 40 mn waiting and can’t even get the food just to have frit rice
The grilled lamb shank was good even if a bit overcooked. Grilled tilapia was Ok.
My only complaint is the noise. Some customers just act as if they are in their own living room. That needs to be regulated by owner.
You know this place is the real deal when so many of the customers are other Senegalese. The food was excellent and the portions enormous. Can't wait to go back.
Small and very busy restaurant. Nothing fancy but the food was good and the portions are huge. The chicken dishes are the best here. The fish is really not the best. Service was slow but because only one person was taking care of all tables.
The food was incredibly good. This spot was recommended by a Senegalese friend. We asked the cashier (who doubles as the waitress too) what dishes she would recommend and she didn't miss. The ginger juice is definitely worth having.
It got very noisy as more patrons came in and I wish they can try to watch this part because it can be slightly annoying when you can't hear the person you are dining with.
