Pleasant Valley Wine Co reviews
17Awesome winery with a lot of fun history. The tour and tasting combination is a fantastic deal, the sampling is generous and there's a lot of variety for a place that's known for champagne. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, especially the young woman giving our tour. I was with a Bachelorette party and they gave us a complimentary bottle and snacks.
This was the second stop for us (a group of 11 gals for my sisters bachelorette party a week ago) and it did NOT disappoint! Communicating with the staff prior to to make reservations was easy. The price for a 1hr tour of the building and tasting was extremely fair and affordable. The building is so rich full of history, interesting and beautiful artifacts, incredible architecture and more. It’s a really cool place and the staff was so friendly and helpful.
Tour of the cellars and historic building dating back to 1860 was very informative. Guide (Jonah?) was extremely knowledgeable and funny!
We stopped on a whim, heading home off of I86. About 10 minutes off of the interstate, and worth it. Pleasant Valley had so much history behind it, and Jenny was so informative. She was so kind, and did such a great job of sharing her knowledge about the wines, winery and history. We can't wait to come back and tour the entire facility!
Awesome tour of how wine was made in the past and present with a delightful wine tasting at the end. CJ was the our tour guide, and a great one at that. He was knowledgeable with the history of wine making!
Wow! Great tour and tasting! Fun to try so many sparkling and fortified wines! Definitely fun with the different wines in the area.
With a history going back to 1860, many delicious wines and champagnes, and an informative museum full of interesting artifacts, this place is worth a stop. Friendly staff made our wine tasting a fun time. A large wine shop is located next to the tasting area, so it was easy to grab what we wanted to bring home. Unable to tour the cellars, but will definitely return again to do that. Absolutely worth a visit.
We used Pleasant Valley to get custom champagne splits for our wedding in May. Linda was wonderful to work with, she was responsive and helpful. The splits were reasonably priced and they looked great. We received compliments on them all night!
This is an older working winery. Many may be familiar with the name Great Western Champagne. It could use some updates in the seating area / entry, but really maybe it just adds to the charm.
If you're looking for a lot of interesting information on wine, the wine making process and the tools and implements used for the same, this is definitely a place to go. You can garner a lot of information here. You can do tours and there is also a theater for learning more. Be sure to check out the stained glass window in the ceiling above the main bar/tasting area.
We came as a group and did not have a reservation. They were able to handle 12 of us. Our server Dez was a lot of fun and knowledgeable on Pleasant Valley Wine and their history. With a group we were seated for our tasting. Five selections were provided for $5. A good selection of champagne and wines. It also included a small brownie sample and crackers. Definitely a good value. We all wrote our name on the top of our selections sheets, but to have some fun gave ourselves some different goofy names. I guess we amuse easily.
The first winery in the US to pay taxes (US Bonded Winery #1).
Jennie (I believe) was fantastic. They explained to us about their champagne and that they are the oldest winery in the area. This was one of my favorite wineries on our trip. Not only was most of the wines I samples in my flight very good, they were also decently priced. I also grabbed some recipe cards to make some food with their wines (which caused me to buy more wine). They also assisted with carrying our wine to our vehicle. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.
Great wines, only place in the country making authentic champagne, worth the visit, forget the servers name, wonderful guy. Amazing museum in the building providing a great alternative to the Lake views you see everywhere else, including ac. Check it out.
This group is the oldest winery in the area. (1860) I love they have a museum type section which we got look at local and world wine history at. Tasting were $5 for any five. The wines were good and lean more on the sweeter side. They got famous for their sparkling wine.
#1 Bonded winery in U. S.great wines, prices. See a part of history. Tour a must but must make a reservation. Old buildings are beautiful. Champagne caves still intact. Staff is exceptional.
A massive selection of wine, a friendly staff and a hugely interesting history. Wine tasting great value. We took a tour. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Jenny was so knowledgeable and friendly. We sampled the wine - $5 and then enjoyed a glass of wine while going through the museum. Great stuff. I now have a few bottles to enjoy at home.
Bring everyone! The tour is a wonderful experience. Learning about the history of the place; people from the past and present who has made the company what it is today; and details of wine making make the tour really special. This winery has a lot of history! We were in a big group and the kids, not just the adults, enjoyed the tour. Jenny, our tour guide, is very knowledgeable, humorous and accommodating. The old charms of the original buildings are quite beautiful. Of course, the wine tasting tops the experience off. There was a wide selection of champagne, reds, white, semi-sweet, sherry and ports that you can choose from. Us adults enjoyed tasting the wines paired with some chocolate brownies and cheese while the kids enjoyed their grape juice and brownies. Jenny even had activities for the kids to do. The shop was well stocked with all sorts of wine. All at a reasonable price. After the tasting, you'd easily buy a dozen or more bottles with so many good tasting wines they'd offered.
Had a great time visiting and tasting. Each of the champagnes are terrific here. A huge thank you to Noah and Jennie for their knowledge and kindness. They made our trip so enjoyable. Can’t wait to go again! Cheers!
