Pod 51 Hotel reviews
8 Our family of three stayed here from 10/11-10/16 in the POD Suite. They allowed us to check in early since our room was ready. Staff were courteous and helpful. Beds were super comfortable, the room was clean and the shower/bath was great. I like that they did away with individual bottles of shampoo etc and instead have refillable containers in the shower and plain old bar soap. The only thing I would change would be to have the option of adding a mini fridge to the room so we could keep snacks/simple breakfast and lunch items. I mentioned this to the front desk staff as we were checking out and they said that they were likely to add this option.
The location is in Midtown between 2nd and 3rd Ave with easy access to public transportation and within walking distance of many restaurants and other attractions. Street noise can be an issue depending on how sensitive you are but we were overall very comfortable from this aspect.
Rooftop is great but the room was more like a coffin. I got the actual big room with the bathroom at the other hotel (which was cheaper) and cancelled Pod after 1 night. Guess it's also my fault for not looking at pictures closely enough.
I always come to this hotel. It's affordable and comfortable. They have a rooftop observation deck. It's 1 block away from the 6 train. There also 3-4 parking places nearby aswell
Bloodstains on the sheets - and no it’s not a Bob Dylan song. They did change it when I told them but still…
The fan was absurdly loud, the room was minuscule, and the receptionist wouldn’t book an early cab for me to the airport - something I have never heard of in any other hotel. Location was decent.
Convenient location, walking distance to a lot of good restaurants and coffee places as well as 5th Av and Times Square. This was our second time staying in pod 51, affordable, clean and friendly staff, will stay there again. (We always book the private bathroom queen room and it’s bigger than one would think!)
The front staff were great and did the best they could. However, the rooms had no refrigerator nor microwave. The mattress was too hard, causing back pain. The bathroom sink was way too small. In addition, hotel guests had to bag and place trash in hallway outside their rooms, due to a staff shortage. During the two days I stayed, my mom was never cleaned. If all you want is a place to drop off your luggage, then this is for you.
It’s a clean safe hotel. It comes off as gimmicky and dated. There is a big disconnect between rooms they advertise and what you get. Standard rooms are bunk beds and share bathroom. If you require a private room and private bath you will need to double check your booking and the rate is more. I felt a little tricked by this and for this reason cannot recommend this hotel. Private room compared to Other hotels are about the same price and the others are in more desirable neighborhoods.
