Diner Pok-A-Dot reviews
16Great place for a Beef on Weck. Been going here since I was a kid in the 70's. Most everything on the menu is quite good
Eh, may be a little bit biased bc I'm an employee as of this week but we make such good food, and our prices are affordable! 1950s diner in 2022 ️
I have never seen a place fill up like I did here for slack food and service. It's very small and cramped. It wasn't the cleanest place that I have visited, the service was extremely slow and the food was sub-par for the price. Double Cheeseburgers were on a tiny paper plate that barely fit the Burgers and the bun was soaked with burger fat and coagulated blood which is very unappetizing. French Fries were over cooked and hard, and they only had a Cook and a Waitress with both handling money and food without washing their hands, which is a red flag for me being in food service for several years. No gloves were use by either employee. No head cover by either employee. Cross contamination is out of control here. I will never go back and I highly recommend that YOU don't eat here. Unless you like everyone's germs from currency and coins on your food. If I didn't have my Granddaughter with me I would have said something. I do know one thing, this is the type of place Robert Irvine would tear apart. Who knows if the defusers on the drink fountain have ever been cleaned and who knows if the ice machine has gunk on the drip tray. It's safe to say that it's a place to consider for cross contamination and if you value your health, eat somewhere else. I will be calling that countys health department for sure. Just absolutely disgusting and very disappointing.
This is the place to go for a menu you just don't see. Low prices, simple choices. Food is good.
There's a reason this place has been around for 60+ years.its fantastic! Its like walking in a old school diner back in the 60's.
The Roast beef is juicy and tender and full of flavor, the old school crinkle fries. I was in awe
A real diner atmosphere, made famous in John Gardner's novel Sunlight Dialogues. Pretty much regular diner fare at affordable diner prices. Just outside is the John Gardner commemorative bench. Did I mention it is one perfect place for beef on wick.
Stopped by for the best beef on weck in the county.
Delicious and perfect with a loganberry drink.
Great little restaurant, great food with a great staff. The gals were busy and working hard but never missed a beat and always had a smile. Well worth the stop.
Have gone by for years and wanted to stop.
Finally did today.
Had Beef on Weck (it’s “weck” not “wick, ” as many seem to write here), fries and a drink.
There was plenty of beef on the sandwich and horseradish was good.
As far as the sandwich goes, the roll should be harder, the beef was fine, but had clearly been soaking in a hot tray for a while. When that happens, the beef loses its flavor.
Still it was a little better than average.
Best to slice the beef to order, if that’s what you’re known for. Also allows for the beef not all to be too well-done.
Many like it a little rare and this was cooked a bit too much. Since I’m from Buffalo, I might be a little picky, but there are ways to make it better and Pok-A-Dot can!
The fries were good.
The server was nice and made sure I had all I needed.
A cool place. Old school!
Going downhill with all the changes they have made. New people working do it a different way that’s wrong, to most of the regulars. There is this attitude of like hurry up and eat and leave that wasn’t there before. They don’t pay attention to the details of your order anymore like they did when it was less popular. Extra crispy fries? No shot. Well done hotdog? Nope. They are in too much of a hurry to do it right. Happened enough times the last year to make me write a review.
I'm disappointed you can never sit at the nice warm counter and watch your food be cooked because they took out most of that seating, and now it's the first seats everyone chooses. So you can never sit there. Take a hint from those seats always being full.
Remodeled?
Tables spread throughout. Food is always good at the long standing Pok-A-Dot Batavia diner.
Ordered a chicken cordon bleu sandwich and a hot dog and fries. Chicken cordon bleu came out with a toppings that was wanted on the hot dog onions relish and ketchup along with the honey mustard and hot dog didn't taste right. Server tried to cover saying that they come with that and then the cook said oh, I read it wrong never offered to fix it.
A good restaurant but every time we order food, something is wrong with it I had mold on my bread, forgot items to my order, and my boyfriends burger wasn’t cooked all the way…smh someone can get really sick from these kind of things.
What can you say? Good food! Cheap prices. Always a great place to eat when you are in Batavia. The staff is friendly.
Kudos to the young teen who started work today. While his first day, he was keeping up doing everything everyone else was doing, except cooking, which if he stays with it, I am sure that will come in time.
Asked for well done hot dog, well toasted bun and crispy fries. Bun: couldn't tell it was toasted, dog was not well done either. When I informed employee he argued with me that he toasted it. Shame on management for not training staff properly, shame on parents for not training son common courtesy. Didnt bring napkins even when we asked for them. He really acted like he could careless about his job and certainly about the customer and their order. Will not go back and will certainly share my experience with everyone.
Met the hubs for lunch on his break. Fast service, fresh and hot. All the waitresses are soooo sweet to and kind! The food is AMAZING!
