PORT Waterfront Bar & Grill reviews
17After getting stuck driving back in the snarl to Greenport from the Hamptons, we wanted a low key restaurant to get some light bites including some seafood. Since the restaurant was around the corner from our place and on the water, we stopped in at PORT. We were seated out in the patio which was great on a nice night. Service was OK and a bit impersonal, did we good and we enjoyed the food with fresh seafood and who knew eggplant meatballs, and the overall atmosphere was kind of dressed up beach bar. Definitely fit the bill for our dinner.
It was a rainy day so the rating for atmosphere was unfortunate, but there was no atmosphere. The server was nice and tried hard. The food we had was awful. Clam chowder had no flavour - just creamy potato glug. The grilled Caesar salad was something out of a horror story. My friend ordered it thinking that the word “grilled” must mean that it had some grilled chicken in it. Silly her. The plate when it arrived was a chunk of burnt lettuce with a bit of Parmesan cheese. And when we say burnt it was charcoal. No Caesar dressing, no nothing. I am amazed that anybody calling himself a chef could bear to put something like that on a plate. It belonged 6 feet under in a garbage dump. They tried to excuse it by saying the cook had discovered this exquisite dish while working in Key West. Different type of lettuce maybe?
What a shocker this place was for us. If they hadn’t charged us $64 for this swill (with a beer and a glass of wine) it would have been funny. As it was it is super sad.
We discovered this adorable restaurant on our weekend trip to Greenport. Service was average, food is also average. I should've read the reviews before ordering. Like the other reviews, the lobster is wayyyyy overcooked-to the point where you can hear a crunch. Fries were good and the drink was the best!
Wonderful place. They accommodate pets, which is such a BIG plus. The food is fantastic. Highly suggested.
Not sure why everyone raves about this place. Maybe it was an off night, but out of 6 dinners, the best meal was the burger. Lobster roll was flavorless. Black Garlic Parmesan Shrimp was mediocre. 2 ordered the burger and liked it a lot. 2 ordered the lobster roll and were not impressed. Had to get lobster rolls again the next day at our favorite spot just to make up for it.
This is a great place to go! Great food, service and atmosphere! I highly recommend the blue crab mac and cheese. Super
Conveniently located by ferry with ample street parking, but pretty underwhelming experience altogether.
Basically, very overly priced for mediocre, lukewarm food. Friendly waiter and hostess, but everybody else couldn't even put on a smile and most of the time, were too busy socializing by the bar.
Shrimp ceviche very very small portion and overly sour. Burger was OK - beef was tasty though overcooked (asked for medium and came out well done) and fries were crispy, but bun was terrible and fried onions were soggy. Black garlic shrimp buccatini did have some really nice large shrimp, but was served rather lukewarm and pasta was a little past al dente. Steak was cooked to order (medium rare) and well-seasoned, but the accompanying mash felt like it came out of a can (in presentation and in flavor).
For the price and the other positive reviews, you just would have expected more, but we wouldn't recommend or return.
We were in town for a bachelorette party and I am beyond happy with my experience there. I ordered a Passion at the Disco gin drink and it was so refreshing and delicious. The she-crab soup was fresh, and the lobster roll was packed full of lobster meat and then some. It was one of the best lobster rolls I have ever had. The shoe string fries were great, and I got to try raw oysters for the first time, which I am now a big fan of! Our waiter was super cool. We all had an amazing time! If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely be returning. Cheers!
The servers are very nice but their cooking staff has no sense of the word hygiene. They wear one glove, and pick up food with bare hands, when confronted they don't remake food they just take off what they think you don't like and add more food on top. The cooking staff actually gave the waitress an attitude because she told him we didn't want our food anymore because he touched it. He even made comments as we walked out. Crabby Johnny's or Claudio's would be better to visit.
Terrible experience, ordered a hot lobster roll and it was absolutely loaded with onions with a soggy bun that seemed like it had been sitting for an hour. Bartender was rude from the start. All together terrible experience and will not return
Great views of the water but food is extremely expensive, came out luke warm and entrees were $25-$35 each! Definitely not worth it!
Always a great experience at Port. The food is great. Their friendly staff provides exceptional customer service. The atmosphere is outstanding as it is located on the water where you can mingle with friendly customers.
Service was good. Waitress was friendly and eager to please. Food, however, left a lot to be desired mussels were bland. Steak sandwich special was overcooked. Sauce on sandwich was overpowering and lettuce was soggy. Will not be back!
The restaurant is very nice with a great view but the food was just okay. We ended up having a drink and a couple appetizers and then decided that was all. Drinks were good. The mussels were not great, the broth had very little flavor. Calamari was good, could have been fried a little longer.
Sat outside for dinner.
The deck was noisy with children & families, but enjoyable weather made it a must.
The food was acceptable.
My burger was good, but my husband's lobster roll was a disappointment.
Service was on the slow side, new help maybe?
Overall, it's not a bad place to get dinner.
Sitting at the gazebo bar at PORT is one of Greenport's greatest hangs. Watch the ferries. Drink a rum drink. Listen to a band. Eat the food. Talk to strangers. This is one of those places- go here while on vacation and feel like it's your local spot. Go here as a local and feel like you are on vacation.
Amazing experience! Every dish was delicious, service was great and efficient, we had a great table overlooking the water. Can’t say enough nice things!
