Omg finally doctors who knows what they doing. After i explained my symptoms the doctors already new what i was going through. She did not Dismiss me like i was crazy or walk away while i was talking. She totally got it. Good listener made good suggestions. I feel like i can stop worrying about my concerns. Totally looking forward to getting my life back on track. By far the best OBGYN i ever been too.

While my visit was fine, I unfortunately have had issues with getting my prescription sent to the pharmacy and with billing.

1) The practice said they sent my prescription to the pharmacy, but when I went to pick it up, it had not been sent. The pharmacist even showed me the screen. I called to have it resent (there was a time element to this!), and the practice was unable to resend it until the doctor returned from being out of the office a week later.

Seven months later, my pharmacy has contacted me to let me know my prescription does not have any refills left and that the practice has not responded to their two attempts to get it renewed. I'm a bit confused why the prescription wasn't written for a full year (given it's for bc, pretty standard!), but I am not looking forward to dealing with getting it renewed given the trouble with communication I've had with this practice.

2) The claim for this appointment took 4-5 months to process. When I finally got the bill, I had been charged for 2 appointments. (I had scheduled an appointment to adjust my bc pill, which they had marked as a wellness visit.) In the course of the visit, apparently the questions I answered and asked went outside what they consider a wellness visit, so they charged for a second visit, which my insurance did not cover (even though they cover specialist visits). It's been a nightmare trying to figure out what the gap in communication is to get this covered. In retrospect, I see that the practice had me sign paperwork notifying me as the patient that the course of conversation during the appointment may lead to a charge for a second appointment, so I would guess this is pretty routine for them. I have never had this issue at any other OB/GYN I've been to in NYC or elsewhere. In the end, I paid $300 for 5 minutes of discussion with a doctor, despite having BCBS PPO insurance.

I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. I'm just glad this was a GYN appointment and not an attempt to find an OB - I can't imagine dealing with the nonsense that has resulted from my visit while pregnant.

(Eek - just took a scroll through some other reviews, and I see my experience is a common one!)

Very professional, attentive and listened to my concerns. I was out the office in less than an hour. Highly recommend.

I have never written a review before but im going to warn others. I was charged $2999 for something I was told will be covered by my insurance during my prenatal visit. Be careful they will find a way to Bill you then send it to Bill collection it will be on your credit report this the second time they did this I don't recommend going there if you don't a surprise bills.

Dr. Masson and his staff were all great. He’s personable and answered all my concerns. It was also a quick appointment no wait time. Would recommend 10/10.

I enjoyed my time with the providers I saw; one for a pap smear and another for and IUD insertion and check up. They're professional and made me feel comfortable.

The practice itself just isn't upfront about billing. They use ultrasound for IUD insertion to make it not a blind procedure, but this is a separate line item under services as an x-ray, and not covered under IUD insertion. So while insertion and the IUD itself was covered, I still paid almost $400 for the x-ray services rendered & wasn't informed it wasn't included under my insurance. Might also get billed hundreds more for the 1 month check up appointment. Disappointed and frustrated by the lack of transparency. Wish I were given a choice to decline those extras.

Update: Yep, got another $384 bill for the check up appointment as well. Paying nearly $800 for an IUD & procedures when it was presented to me as completely covered by my insurance truly blindsided me and I can't in good conscience recommend this practice.

In the park slope location I went to get my annual check up. Doctor was patient and did not ostracize, nursing was very thorough. Both doctor and nurse explained as they were treating me. 15 minutes were allotted for me to come in after schedule, staff was not rude although everyone was wrapping up. They accepted me in quick and I had zero issues with care and procedure.

Intake was smooth but that was about it. Went in and the doctor asked me questions I already answered. When I asked her questions to try to find a solution for my issue, she didn’t answer, didn’t bother to look up from her screen, told me to take birth control which I refused. She left, I had an ultrasound and was ushered out. I left thinking I was done, they called me back to bring me in for blood work. The lady took many tries to insert one needle, my arm was killing me. And then I was billed $500 for blood work. Never coming back.

Had trouble with my prescription and my refill. Called and emailed the office several times and got no response. Fortunately I didn’t need the prescription urgently, but I wouldn’t recommend this practice if you have medicines you depend on. My in-office visit was fine.

I have been a patient of Pure since 2019 when I started seeing Dr. Shultis. She has since left and I've met with several of the other doctors in the practice. While they were all nice, none of them really blew me away with their bedside manner, until I met with Dr. Mbaye. WOW! What a wonderful experience! That is how a visit, with a health care provider should go. THEY allow you to speak and THEY LISTEN to you without making you feel rushed. They provide feedback in a caring, empathetic, and cheerful manner and they are thorough! As a Black woman that is so neccesary because many times implicit bias hinders the kind of care you recieve.

I’m a new patient here & im disappointed. The receptionist staff here sucks.very unorganized. All they know how to do is pick up a phone. The Doctor prescribed a medication to my pharmacy and I’ve been calling for 4 days straight they have yet to tell me why I need to take that medication they all keep saying they will have someone call me back, no one has called me back. It’s been 3 days I have not been taking a medication that the doctor prescribed because I’m not sure why. Their online system is weird I get a notification saying my lab results are ready to view & when I log in it shows no results. The staff is no help when I call the receptionist SABRINA seemed annoyed of my issues. I’ll have to find a better obgyn. Besides that the place is clean so they get 1 star.

I've visited two different doctors at two different Pure OBGYN locations (flatiron and park slope). Both visits were lovely. There was very little waiting room time, the doctors really gave me their undivided attention for as long as I needed, and the facilities and staff are very inviting and friendly. I highly recommend.

This facility has terrible billing. After submitting inappropriate claims, I called both my insurance and them several times with no resolution. They even billed my insurance twice incorrectly. It has been almost 2 yrs of back and forth of calling and check ins for a checkup and preventative care. According to them, I still have an outstanding balance while they are submitting inappropriate codes to get more money for what was done. This is shady, and unethical. If you get a surprise bill, make sure you check what they actually submitted.

After reading these reviews, it looks like I’m not the only patient to have been scammed by Pure OBGYN’s billing practices. It is November 2021 and I today received notice that I have outstanding bills from February 2020 and January 2021. There were zero attempts to contact me about this balance (although they lied about trying to contact me multiple times) and I am now obligated to pay $750 for services that are nearly one to two years old. I will not be returning to this practice and I would highly recommend any woman who is reading this to find a different OBGYN who will not send them surprise bills years later.

Horrible Experience- Overcharging

I came here because they accepted my insurance but they just decided to tell me I need to get blood work done and send it off without telling me it would cost $450. I went in for my yearly checkup and they scammed me for as much as they could. Definitely not looking out for their clients just trying to squeeze out as much of your money as they can.

I started attending this practice during my pregnancy and I have no regrets.

The receptionists at both locations (St. John’s and W. 20th St.) are very kind and have such positive energy. They are also very professional and always willing to answer questions. They would respond to my inquiries in a timely manner and even follow up to check if the matter was taken care of!

The offices at both locations I visited (St. John’s and W. 20th St.) are very clean and COVID-19 protocols are enforced. I visited several doctors (highly recommend if you’re expecting since you never know who’s on call on the day of your delivery). Each doctor I saw at the practice (Dr. Guerra, Dr. Yoo, Dr. Masson, Dr. Mbaye, and finally the doctor who delivered my babygirl -Dr. Woodbury) had AMAZING bedside manner. My questions/concerns were always answered without any judgement. Dr. Woodbury was my cheerleader during my delivery and she made sure to coach me and help me remain calm throughout the delivery. The ultrasound technicians were also very informative and always in good spirits.

Amazing practice and definitely would recommend to anyone looking for an OBGYN!
