Ramapo Dunderberg Trailhead reviews
4The residents here are selfish nimby’s. There is absolutely no parking here and they make you walk a long distance on the road to get to the trailhead from the train station parking area. Nature should be accessible to everyone. The residents should be ashamed of themselves.
I relatively like the hiking courses in the Ramapo area, and hiking here is also fun because there are intermittent streams and various courses. I walked Claudius Smith’s Den Short Loop clockwise for 5 miles in 2 hours and 30 minutes. You can occasionally see people hiking with dogs, but it is a relatively quiet course. One thing that's disappointing is that you can't park right in front of the trailhead, so you have to park near the train station and walk for about 10 minutes. Other than that, it is a relatively beautiful and recommended hiking course.
It is an excellent place to go hiking and release stress.
I would recommend that they change the signs they have and place others that do not damage the trees, they are using screws to fix the signs.
While this is the start of the unpaved, wooded part of the Ramapo-Dunderberg Trail, it is not the official trailhead. No parking rules at this spot are enforced by the local police. The R-D begins at Tuxedo Station. Those arriving by car will find hiker parking at the paid municipal lot on East Village Road, close to NY Route 17.
