First time here! Tony is a master colorist and hair stylist. He took his time with me and wanted to make sure my platinum hair color was just the way I wanted it.
The whole staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They make you feel apart of their family. I highly recommend coming to the Red Market Salon!
My appointment was cancelled and I was not told until I walked in the door, on time and ready for a hair cut. Salon requires that you agree in writing to their cancellation policy whereby customer must pay 50% for cancelling within 24 hours. Curious as to what they pay the customer when they cancel within less than a minute of the appointment? Unprofessional and a waste of my time.
Very happy with Kelsey's highlights! I'm particular about my color and she did an excellent job. 11out of 10. Salon itself has a great/modern vibe. I'll be back!
One afternoon I happened to be in the area and suddenly decided that I wanted to dye my hair, and was in luck as Kelsey happened to have a cancellation the same afternoon! And omg I thank fate for bringing me to Kelsey. She is so knowledgeable about all things hair as she educates herself on hair techniques, and I appreciate that she is a perfectionist and made sure to understand exactly what I wanted. She was super patient with answering my billion questions and bless her soul for dealing with my pickiness and going through several rounds of toning to get the right color. I love how my hair turned out, love you Kelsey! Also shoutout to the staff for making me feel welcome and pampered!
Kelsey, for color, and Ashley, for cuts, are a power duo and are the reason I keep coming back to Red Market Salon! They both make you feel so comfortable and safe in their chair. Every time I leave an appointment I get so many complements- highly would recommend getting your hair done by them!
I made a last-minute appointment for a haircut with Ashley and I was so glad she was able to fit me in as a first-time client. All the staff were really welcoming. Ashley listened really well to the style I was looking for and executed it perfectly. I love my new haircut and I would definitely go back!
Here is what happened. I got an appointment for Brazilian keratin treatment. Then I arrived on the appointment day and they apologized as the person who took my appointment was new and that they don’t do Brazilian keratin. So we went with normal keratin treatment a month ago. It didn’t have any affects more than those 15 bucks keratin treatments you can buy and apply in the shower. Hair still super frizzy and after two washes, no affect of the treatment at all. I understand the two week period to let them know whether it worked but I was not in the city. Anyway yesterday I called again to make an appointment for coloring, and asked if they could fix the keratin as it didn’t work. They said yes. When I got to the salon, they said there is noone at this time to fix the keratin but they offered either a 50% off for my next keratin treatment which would work the same or a refund. I like the color, they did a good job but at the check out, they told me they cannot refund the previous treatment. So all the miscommunications, and change of decisions and wrong appointments. Thanks for the nice hair color but I’d not recommend anyone getting a $450 keratin that goes away after second wash and honestly, after all the inconvenience, I will not go there. There are many hair salons in NYC. Also I like the stylists, they were nice and kind but the person at the check out with curly hair was very rude. Don’t deal with this
Had an incredible experience as a first time customer at Red Market. I was immediately greeted and made comfortable- within a few minutes I met Kelsey and Ashley who walked me through a consultation (which, in my 33 years have never had pre a hair appointment) where they asked my about my hair routines & preferences, reviewed the coloring process, and asked for any specifics regarding looks, ideas, or questions. Kelsey gave me the best balayage experience and the color turned out 10/10. Also just beyond pleasant to chat with. Ashley then gave me a cut and blow dry, and she also did an amazing job. I’ve never walked out of a salon with confidence or belief that my hair actually looked amazing until now. Would return any time.
HUGE fan of Kelsey and Ashley. I followed Kelsey from Hoboken for my color. She always listens to what I'm interested in, and gives me advice on how to achieve what I want. Which changes a lot. I appreciate her patience with me, and she has lots of rad ideas, too! And now I've gone to Ashley a few times for a haircut and couldn't be happier. Got the cutest bob after showing her an inspo picture, and she did a phenomenal (and super quick!) job making my style come to life. Kelsey and Ashley are both such fun humans to be around in the salon, and they love dogs.enough said. Cannot recommend this duo enough!
Kelsey is the absolute best! She is friendly, truly listens to your vision, and works hard to achieve it. She gets to know you beyond being a client and is fun to hang out with while in the chair! The entire staff is welcoming and the environment is relaxing. I would highly recommend Kelsey to anyone (referring my friends to her) and Red Market Salon overall!
It was my first time at Red Market Salon and I absolutely loved it. Kelsey was so professional, friendly and she definitely knew what she was doing. I feel amazing with my new hair.

Don’t walk run to this salon. The owners are so nice and laidback. Atmosphere feels really welcoming. Don’t be afraid to bring your laptop and work from home while touching up your latest balayage. Kelsey does my color and Ashley does my cut. Both of them are extremely talented. Everyone is so chill and wants you to leave the salon feeling your best so don’t be afraid to be honest with them about exactly what you’re looking for. I have naturally dark brown hair and I go in every 5 months for a flawless blonde balayage.
Ashley & Kelsey are THE DREAM TEAM. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to write this review. I called on a whim on one of those days where I woke up and felt like my hair needed to have an overhaul ASAP. (I never have the time to pamper myself). It was totally fortuitous that they were both able to fit me in to their busy schedules. The two of them made me feel so comfortable, happy, beautiful and heard! I showed them some pics (I hate doing this) and they listened & genuinely proceeded to create magic. Kelsey is the blonde whisperer & Ashley gave me an amazing cut & bangs that are so adorable. I haven’t had any problem styling them since which is also a huge plus. I basically spent like 6 hours with these two and I feel like they became my friends. I’ll be back for sure!
