Red Rooster Harlem, New York NY

We dine at the Red Rooster whenever we visit NYC. The menu is creative and unique. Every dish we have tried has been wonderfully prepared and delicious. The staff are polite, knowledgeable and efficient. During our last visit a live jazz trio entertained the diners. The Jerked Salmon Bowl and Fried Catfish are both really nice.

What a great evening. We celebrated our anniversary here and everything was stellar. Our server was sweet and attentive. The drinks were perfectly balanced and strong. The Garvey punch might be my favorite thing to sip on all winter. Food - we had the chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and jerk cauliflower. All hit the right flavor notes for me. After watching back to back seasons of TOC, I am so glad I made it to Samuelsson’s restaurant.
Also — the live music was so gooddd!

Food: probably the best cornbread I have ever had (it was on the house because the wait was a bit long, but the place was packed itself). The chicken was super crispy and moist in the inside, and each piece itself is huge. One thing I wish for the chickens, though, is for the honey to be more evenly spread. The Mac & Green is also very tasty with good cheese combination. Surprisingly, the cornbread turns out to be the mysterious X factor- hands-down, the best corn bread I have ever had in my life, and the sauce is heavenly! My friend had the soup and she said it tasted good, but wish it would have less crumbs for her own preference. We didn’t end up with dessert because we were too full, but they look amazing as well!
Service: the waiters are very friendly and nice.
Atmosphere: the music and the atmosphere makes the place very lively, and this will be a perfect place for a date. The price is also quite reasonable for such a big proportion.
Would recommend to go to this place!

Wow what a cool place! The ambiance is awesome with some nice subdued red lights, live jazzy type tunes, and a nice sound level. Would imagine this would be a great place for a date.

Service was amazing. Our server’s suggestions were spot on! Not to mention they were insanely quick and efficient!

Friendly, attentive service. Fried Chicken was somewhat overcooked, mashed potatoes tasted suspiciously like powdered spuds and cornbread was sweet enough to be dessert. I would go again just to try other entrees and listen to their live music!

Just wanted to extend my sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Red rooster for hosting an excellent private room dinner this past weekend. Cheyenne and the entire team were professional and courteous. Food was predictably excellent.

We live in Woodbridge NJ, my daughter watched iron chef Marcus, really wanted to dine at his red roaster in Harlem, made a reservation, we drove an hours and fifteen minutes today, we get their at12: 20, hostesses was lovely, ordered the wild chicken wing, sorry for the word Iam gonna use” disgusting, the wing is supper jumbo wing, tasted chickeny, was not washed befor cooking, you could smell and taste the raw slimy chicken juice, daughter ordered the fried drum sticks, the same thing, super jumbo and chickeny, I had the shrimp with tomato broth, okra and grits, shrimp was small, with tail on, tasteless tomato broth with supper fine away over cooked tasteless grits, lime for sparkling water had little brown edges, last night limes,
Iron Chef Marcus, this is not your standers, man, get there and taste the food, change this super jumbo cheep. 45 c a pound.
I went to the bathroom. I got dizzy from this funky colors. What is this? Is this African colors, it is not even well painted and the sink is filthy. Check the pictures, also two bathrooms, both of them for men and women. Why wouldn’t you have the woman have their own privacy, so the men don’t pee all over the seat, don’t forget this is the Bronx, this is Harlem,

Loved it. I had dinner during the week. Not too crowded, food was amazing, great atmosphere and jazz music.
If your visiting NYC, it is worth a shot!

Love love love Red Rooster! The quality went down briefly after Covid but seems they’re back.

Great food great service. The only complaint for the brunch was that the cornbread and gravy only had one corn bread! Luckily our server gave us extra. Thank you!

I enjoyed the overall experience but depending on the day of the week it can be a bit crazy out front.

I was going to Sylvia, but there was a lot of waiting and there were a lot of Korean people, so I went to Red Rooster. I learned about it after it appeared in an American picture book introducing Harlem. When I went in, everyone was local and the food was good! However, the amount was very large. I left most of the chicken because I was full, and when I looked at the picture later, I was very sad. The price was a bit high. The beer was delicious, the menu was delicious, and I heard that only Red Rooster had mac and cheese with vegetables (? !), so I ordered it and it was savory and delicious. You have to order the cornbread separately, but it's really delicious so you definitely have to order it. The server in charge was also friendly, so I had a great time.

We ate there on Sunday. We usually shared meal. The main courses are large. We had the Bucatini Piccadilly and the appetizer Grilled Shrimp & Shrimp Ceviche. I shared a picture of half of the serving of the Bucatini dish. It was good and favors were interesting; however, it was a lot of food. The Shrimp ceviche was a delight. Next time We will probably share the Shrimp Ceviche with another appetizer. Also, their coffee is very coffee.

We loved absolutely everything on our recent Sunday brunch visit to Red Rooster. The room is vibrant and spacious, and our large & comfy red booth gave us a fantastic view of the space. It was a week before Christmas and the restaurant was busy but the service was excellent. Everything we ate was incredible but heads up - servings are huge! My sweet potato soup was so velvety, and the jerk cauliflower was delicious. The mac&greens was out of this world. A wonderful jazz trio played and they were not too loud that you couldn't have a conversation. I had a 'yes chef' cocktail and it was superb. A good mixologist is worth their weight in gold. Make sure you check out the toilets which are decorated with a mix of hip hop and arty touches. Highly recommend.

Very Clean! Outstanding service! Really good food! I had Mac & Greens fried Catfish! 125 mango drink! Silva our waitress your awesome! Everyone really nice had such a great vibe! Security at door very nice great smile!

Monday night Soul Sessions was fantastic with live music-oustanding band and vocals. Of course, the food and atmosphere were superb.

The burger was just average. The Buffalo sauce on the chicken was not hot. There was not 6 whole wings. They were wingettes.

I am someone who doesn't like going to NYC, much less writing reviews but after the night my wife and I had at the Red Rooster Harlem I just had to say something. I am sooo glad we went. Big shout out to the entire team there, the kitchen staff presented us with culinary delights and special special thanks to Managers Charles & Nikki and our servers Neil, Courage and Tiara, these folks are worth everything you pay them and more! Really enjoyed the musical selections of DJ Jun. Everything we had was delicious, I cannot imagine that there is anything bad on the menu, you all have really outdone yourselves. Definitely try the Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Red. Yes, yes y'all we will definitely be back.
