Theatrical environment, super creative dishes, and an attentive staff make this one of the top spots in Brooklyn.

Restaurant Yuu
Very much like a theatrical performance. When you enter, you are faced with a curtain drawn across the open kitchen. Once every guest is properly seated, then the curtain is drawn aside to reveal the entire kitchen team standing, beaming, as if coming out for an encore or standing ovation at the end of the show. But the show is just only about to begin.
With tick-tock precision, one course comes out right after another as soon as you’re done with the present course. I would say the wait staff is TOO efficient. As soon as I put the last morsel in my mouth, the wait staff swoops down and takes away the dish and utensils, leaving me still chewing and savoring my last bite. Then soon after, another course comes out. And so, on and on it goes, just like clockwork. When the dinner is done, guests are invited to retire to the lounge area, plunge onto a comfy sofa, and await the final desert dainties and a hot, piping herbal blended tea. Ah! What a lovely evening!

Self-absorbed restaurant.
The quality of the ingredients is top notch, but at a price of nearly $400 per person, how about sharing a hybrid caviar or a 500g size meal with 18 people sharing two main fish? The dishes themselves, especially the sauces and techniques, have a modern composition that combines orthodox French with a bit of Japanese techniques, and the dishes are thought too systematically, making it easy to pull the plate backwards, which is quite tedious.
I think about $150 is a reasonable price, but I think the cost of installing the equipment made it like this.
It's a bit disappointing since he seems to be a talented chef.
It is unclear how long he will be supported by the unusual New Yorker.

Superb. I am rarely impressed with most of any menu from a restaurant, so I was pleasantly surprised to have my expectations exceeded when we ate at Restaurant Yuu.

It was very memorable, with the presentation-focused and performance aspect of the dinner and the attentiveness to detail. I very much appreciated that a whole section of the kitchen was open and intended to be viewed, and they specifically showcased certain aspects of the meal being prepared, such as the lobster being taken apart and also the grand reveal of the Canard pastry main course. The presentation was beautiful in the dineware they chose and were well-suited to the theme and artistic nature of the meal.

The service was very good, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The counter style of the restaurant and overall ambiance are very clean, contemporary, and professional. The personality of the restaurant fits well within the Greenpoint neighborhood.

And most importantly, the food was very enjoyable. I loved how innovative some of the dishes were in their flavors and combinations. The European influence is so interestingly mixed with the Japanese elements, the flavors are bold yet still delicately considered, a true mixture of cultures, techniques and experiences. I'm excited to bring others here and also try other seasonal menus in the future.

They offer a delightful fusion of French and Japanese culinary techniques, resulting in dishes that are not only exquisite but also incredibly delicate. The flavors are outstanding, and they consistently use seasonal ingredients, which why I would love to visit there again soon. The wine pairings are Good exceptional, and the attention to detail in both service and the presentation of dishes creates a beautiful atmosphere. While the tasting menu may not be cheap for everyone, it's undoubtedly a worthwhile dining experience that offers great value.
I will def go back!

Just Japanese dishes and French dishes. Not really a Japanese-French “fusion”. Sanitary standard needs to be improved.

I like everything about this restaurant from the omakase to the wine bar, from the hospitality to their music playlist. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed, unless your taste buds are stuck with the traditional salty French food.

I'm front New York and have the opportunity to travel different part of the world and will highly recommend this restaurant.
Best New French restaurant with Japanese spirit you can find in New York City. Great food, excellent handmade plates, great wine, and fantastic service. If you are in Manhattan and want great food and wine and the opportunity to see the work of up-and-coming chef at a reasonable place. Check it out

First of all, the environment, It’s all over the counter experience. The environment and style are very high-end. Secondly, the food is beautifully presented and the taste is very delicious. Thirdly, the service is perfect, the staff are all very friendly and polite! Before I came here, I also saw some bad reviews on the Internet, but they have accepted everyone's opinions and made some changes to the menu. It can be seen that the whole team is very hardworking. As far as my experience, I am very satisfied, especially the chef’s specialty Duck Wellington, which made me truly unforgettable. Other dishes are also delicious, not like the people who said a month ago, I think restaurant Yuu have made a lot of improvement! I love this place, Chef Yuu is very cute, at the end he took photo together with us and gave us some little gifts to bring home and walk us out and say goodbye. Will definitely come back again! And hope restaurant Yuu can get Michelin Star in the near future!

Great place for dinner! The spatial configuration with counter top and the lounge makes this place perfect for friends to come together.

The wine pairing is phenomenal, also at a great value with half pairing available.

Good service, terrible food, time wasting, if you are hungry, you better stay away from here
The pairing drink is worse than mouth wash, I would rather drink still water.

The food was great and the service was amazing! They introduce the courses to you and tell you exactly what youre eating and how its made and you can see how your food is being made. The whole place is very clean the music is very tone setting. At the end the chef even gave us something to take home and walked us out the door.

Regardless why you choose Restaurant Yuu, the duck Wellington with foie gras would be the highlight. The pie is pre-made, but with a good reason as it's a labor of love. Pay attention the decoration on the pie surface. They are not regular lattice patterns you see commonly on Wellingtons. Chef Yuu treats the pie surface as a creative canvas and paint a beautiful picture. The picture changes, making it ephemeral and worth for a return when menus change for a new reason.

Tips
* The entrance to the restaurant is on Nassau Avenue, not on Guenset St as maps shows.

A beautiful and specious restaurant with the attentive service. Felt like I wasn’t in NYC. Perfect for date night or girls night out with creative dishes. Cocktails can be improved though.

Went today and had one of the best meals of my life. Along with the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. I cannot thank the staff enough for providing such memorable food and experience. I got the half of the wine and sake pairing, and look forward to coming back. Everything was worth it. Thank you.

I went here for my birthday. It was an amazing experience. All the dishes were delicious and beautiful. The service was impeccable. I loved that they have a half wine paring option as I generally feel a full wine pairing is too much alcohol - the pairing themselves were very on point too. The desserts and pastries were delicious - the melon dessert in particular was so unique and tasty. All in all, a great experience and highly recommended. I’m pretty sure they will eventually get a Michelin star (s).
