Going on safari in Africa has been my lifelong dream so it was important that I get it right! Choosing Roar Africa to plan our trip was the best decision ever made. My husband and I had a seamless, stress free trip to Zimbabwe and Botswana. Roar Africa provided VIP service that included excellent representatives at the airports, bypassing lines for security/ticketing/passport control, private lounges and cars. It allowed us to enjoy the travel without having to figure anything out.
The 3 properties that were chosen for us were absolute luxury and each had something special that we loved. We started at Matetsi Victoria Falls. Between the stunning falls and the wildlife on our game drives we could have gone home right then thinking we saw it all. It just kept getting better though with DumaTau camp in Botswana and finally the 5 star Xigera Lodge in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. All the people that took care of us were lovely. The food was over the top good. Our safari guides were extremely knowledgeable (as a biologist I appreciated this) and did everything with our safety in mind.
We will definitely be choosing Roar Africa to plan our next Africa adventure!

RoarAfrica is the absolute Gold Standard for African travel. A perfect combination of luxury accommodations, food and drink and intimate, conservation-focused safari experience. This was my third safari with RoarAfrica and I am already planning another for 2024. You won’t be disappointed!

From my mother, Amanda:

I just returned from my second trip that was planned by Roar Africa and this time I had the extreme privilege and honor of traveling with Deborah Calmayer, the CEO and founder of Roar and several of her fabulous colleagues including Lee, Lydia and Merritt. Our trip exceeded all expectations. Africa is full of magic and a trip planned by Roar allows you to travel seamlessly through the continent, meeting the kind African people and seeing the wildlife.

I was able to enjoy every single minute of my trip without concern or worry. I felt so well cared for and supported. I often say it’s like, your parents are taking care of you, but even better and one step, actually many steps above that. If you are planning a trip to Africa, or even if you are not, run-don’t walk- to have Roar plan a trip for you.

My entire family, including kids and parents ranging in age from 3 to 77 will travel back together in November again on a wonderfully magical and seamless trip that Roar has planned for us. Thank you!

I cannot imagine a better organized and beautifully realized safari in South Africa. ROAR had come highly recommended and I"m happy to say the sojourn exceeded expectations. The accommodations were first-rate, the guides informative and friendly, and the meals were memorable. Cannot wait to book a return trip.

Traveling with Roar Africa was an absolute dream. The ease in which we traveled in their care has spoiled me forever. We were greeted by a Roar agent and taken care of at every leg of our journey. I am grateful to Roar for making it so seamless. Looking forward to seeing you and Africa again soon!

Thank you all very much for the preplanning of this trip to the execution above and beyond expectations.
Steven, our friend and driver did an exceptional job of getting us to the right place at the right time, then taking it upon himself to show us some of his favorite South African attractions.greatly appreciated by all.
Boulders, Singita was over the top fabulous (running out of adjectives here), the staff and the facility were wonderful. The lodge went out of their way to celebrate Jamie's 50th birthday, and our server, Catherine met all of our needs, and more. We love her! Coleman and Johnson, our bush guide and tracker were both part of the A team. Served us coffee in the bush, and wine in the afternoons, with snacks of course! They really added to making it all such a great adventure.
Alex and Boulders set up a brunch for us out at Hippo Point, complete with champaign for the Sabrage ceremony.oh, what fun we did have, everyday, all day. Staff also sewed on a button on one of the shirts we had! Now that's service!
So many fun memories for the three of us.thanks again to ROAR Africa for constantly going that extra mile.

WOW! What an absolutely incredible time we had on our safari vacation with Roar Africa. My husband and I couldn’t speak more highly of our experience with Roar and the amazing people we spent time with at Angama and Segera. The experience was unbelievable, seamlessly planned and we can’t wait to go back…we’re even planning our next trip already! Huge thank you to Lisa, Sammy, and all the staff at Roar; Lamaalo, Adlight, Moses, and the amazing staff at Angama; Paul, Michael, Jessica, and all the wonderful people at Segera…thank you all for the most unforgettable experience!

My husband and I just returned from a “perfect” safari experience that was only possible by the professionalism and attention to every detail by the entire Roarafrica staff. When we discussed this trip with Lisa from Roarafrica, she listened to every detail in an attentive manner and this made our trip so enjoyable. When my friends asked me about my experience with Roarafrica, I responded “it is the Rolls-Royce of safari planning”. Thanks Roarafrica. Carmen Vazquez

Flawless. The Emirates Jet was next level luxury! Highly recommend! My favorite memories were seeing the magnificent animals for the first time. The Gorillas, Elephants, Zebras, Lions, Leopards, Rhinos, Giraffes, Hippos.so healthy and free. The intense sunrise going out on safari and the relaxing sundowner sunsets. The warmth of the people I met along the way. New friends whom I am still corresponding with. The balloon ride was sublime. The Roar Africa team made moving through the airports with ease. I researched many companies for years before choosing Roar Africa. I felt most aligned with CEO Deborah Calmeyer's vision and mission. My only complaint is that it went by too fast! Thanks for everything!

All I can say is WOW - working with Roar Africa was the absolute best decision we could make when planning our honeymoon! The team was extremely knowledgable about all of the details regarding our trip, and they really personalized and tailored the itinerary to fit our preferences and needs. Throughout the planning process, Lisa and the team were quick to address all of our questions and concerns, and were flexible when we needed to postpone due to covid. Once we began our journey, all of our information and documents were easily accessible on the app they use, and the whole trip was just phenomenal. We were so impressed with the quality and service of the lodges they booked for us, as well as how organized all of the logistics were. I don't think I understood what seamless transfers meant until traveling with Roar Africa! We hope to travel with them again very soon!

As a couple who typically plans all of their travel, we were a bit nervous to hand over this aspect for our first and dream trip in Africa. However, we wanted experts and people who really knew the country and culture to help us navigate. ROAR AFRICA was the perfect choice! From our first call with Merritt to getting home, we felt welcomed and taken care of. Rwanda and Kenya are beautiful countries that just made us fall in love with Africa! Already thinking and planning our next visit. Maybe South Africa and Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) ?

I lost my husband to brain cancer last year and decided to go to Africa to heal. I reached out to several companies but it was only Roar Africa that understood the true purpose of my journey. I spoke with Merritt on the phone for over an hour, told her I needed to be with animals and nature, and left the rest up to them. They did not disappoint. I spent a month in Africa. Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Botswanta.and it truly saved my life. As a new "table for one", I needed to feel safe and secure. Every step of my journey was met with a Roar Africa representative that made me feel like royalty. I was greeted at every airport the moment I deplaned, whisked away past long lines of weary travelers. Given the VIP treatment with no issues. From there I was handed off to private guides so incredible that I have made lifelong friends with many of them. From hotels, to lodges, to tent camps, everywhere I stayed was beyond anything I've ever experienced. My husband and I traveled the world together for over 20 years, but I've never experienced travel the way Roar Africa does it! My financial advisor is not too happy about my new relationship with Roar Africa, I have already been back for a second trip and planning a third, but life is short! If you really want a once in a lifetime experience.or twice.or thrice. I can't recommend them enough!

Africa has stolen my heart … and my words, I can no longer describe the beauty I have seen. Superlatives seem inadequate, as does everything else. This was perfection - an itinerary to contrast, not compete. Each moment astonishing. Each location extraordinary. In Africa, once is never enough.
I witnessed my first true sunset; a golden, godly light reflected on a tranquil Zambezi. Kaleidoscopes of exquisite colour, flaming red, periwinkle blue …we were somewhere between heaven and earth. There were so many reasons to pause, to reflect - an overwhelming gratitude. By day, the glorious guides offered us their extraordinary Africa, from scorched savannahs to the Okavango oasis, from the majestic Mara to the verdant volcanoes. Lions dreamed beside us, leopards perched on branches above, hyenas watched - faces blood red. Hungry lion cubs orbited the termite mound while cheetah cubs mirrored their huntress. The mountain gorillas - the ultimate privilege - once is not enough.
Luxurious lodges, galleries of perfection, temples of serenity. Grace and honour, a bubbling joy, dancing and laughter. Endless praise for the smiles, the kindness, the dutiful pleasure, the exceptional care. Inspired and humbled by Joseph Dhafana and Kasiva Mutua.
We flew like angels, we soared. We shook our heads in wonder, we closed our eyes in prayer.
Deb, and team, words will never be enough. Your vision, your power, your exquisite execution - only here there is no contrast, no one can compete.
Eternally grateful.x

Our family had been looking forward to this special trip for more than a year and we were rewarded with incredible memories and experiences. We felt the personal and detailed touches every moment of our trip, from the RoarAfrica ground concierges, to the safari guides, as well as the lodging staff. Of course, the African landscape/culture and hospitality were phenomenal and found a permanent place in our souls. Thank you so much for facilitating a bucket list journey that exceeded expectations.

Roar Africa did an outstanding job on our recent visit to Africa. It started with detailed pre-trip planning and support from both their U. S.and South African offices. Due to the pandemic, our trip was postponed for two consecutive years, but Roar Africa seamlessly rebooked us each time and kept our desired itinerary intact. Prior to leaving the United States, Lisa in their South African office, walked us through each step of the itinerary answering our myriad of questions and explaining the nuances of the trip. During our travels, Roar Africa flawlessly executed every detail which allowed our group to relax and enjoy each step of the way. The Roar Africa representatives we met were excellent. All were informative, and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed their insight and their company. All the accommodations were exquisite, and we particularly enjoyed the Singita Boulders Lodge. The local people we met were happy, friendly, and enthusiastic which certainly enriched our experience. Africa is truly a unique place. Watching the animals interact and live their lives as nature intended was amazing. You certainly recognize that this place needs to be preserved and protected. Now that we have had time to reflect on our visit, we realize that this was much more than a trip or vacation. It was a special lifetime experience which will live with us forever. Thanks to everyone at Roar Africa.

My husband and I got back from our Roar Africa Greatest Safari on Earth 2 weeks ago. This was the trip of 100 lifetimes! There is no one who could show you Africa better than Deborah. From start to finish this trip was the height of luxury, unique experiences, special surprises and hassle free travel. It is the best of the best! I can't say enough good things about Deborah and her entire team that made our trip so fun and exciting!

There aren't enough stars to give ROAR AFRICA! They arranged an absolutely unforgettable safari experience for our three-generation family group. Going into our trip, we had very high expectations, but they were exceeded in every way!

The three camps that we stayed at-Jamala Madikwe, Matetsi Victoria Falls River Lodge, and Tswalu Tarkuni-were absolutely amazing. The diversity (and sheer quantity) of wildlife and natural surroundings were wonderful, the family accommodations were ultra-luxurious and perfect for the nine of us, the staff was warm and helpful, and the food was over the top (even for a group of foodies accustomed to eating very well)!

Stephen Bell, our private guide, was with us from the time we landed in Cape Town until we departed Joburg twelve days later, and it is an understatement to say that he was a delight and an integral part of the success of our trip. It was no easy task, with nine of us ranging from 11 to 80 in our group, but he managed us through airports, kept track of everyone (and everything) throughout the trip, and worked with the camps to fit our ever-changing needs, while making sure that every last detail was perfect. He was amazing in his knowledge of the local terrain, ecosystem, wildlife and cultures that we encountered (not to mention his photographic skills!), and it added so much to have him available to share his expertise, add commentary, and answer our many questions throughout the safari. And he did it all with a wonderful sense of grace, humor, and lots of patience!

Deborah Calmeyer, ROAR's CEO, and Lisa Lerm, our client liaison, did a superb job planning and coordinating every aspect of our adventure. As we reflect on the trip, it is very apparent that nothing was left to chance. The camps we stayed at, the order of the camps, and the individual experiences we had at each camp were clearly carefully selected and orchestrated to "build" over the two weeks of travel to result in an unforgettable time in Africa. They answered all of our questions patiently (sometimes more than once-a pitfall of planning a group safari with three different households and such a wide range of ages, interests, and concerns) and were always quick to help us.

We will never forget the warmth and welcome of the people, the stunning wildlife, and the beautiful skies of an African sunset. It would not be an understatement to say that each of us returned home changed because of our time in Africa. It was truly a magical trip of a lifetime-thank you ROAR!
