Rochdale Community Center, Queens NY

Went there last night for a 70th birthday celebration and it was lovely! Spacious and clean.

When booking we were told tables and chairs would be already set up, they weren't and we had to set up 100 chairs and 15 tables.

At an hour before our clean up time, the maintenance worker came in and began removing our decor from the tables, and placed them in garbage bags with no notice. He was clearly being rude and passive aggressive.

He proceeded to slam the tables shut while we finished our event. When approached he sat down in room with an attitude and a look of disdain on his face. I confronted him and asked why he was behaving in such a hostile manner he said take it up with the community center coordinator

We inquired with the safety officer why we were being rushed out, he rudely replied " If you don't pay, you don't play, its time to leave. " I spoke with the Sargent, he nonchalantly acknowledged the unprofessional remarks of the officer and offered no solution or apology for the officer's behavior.

I and my family are disappointed by the demeanor of the maintenance staff and safety officers. I felt like I was being treated like a nuisance, troublemaker, and downright disrespected. The actions of both maintenance and the safety officers tarnished my event and inevitably ruined my baby shower.

I made a complaint to the center coordinator and never recieved a resolution much less a response.
If you want to have an enjoyable event spend the extra few dollars and rent somewhere that values their customers and provides good customer service. I will never rent here again.

I was quite surprised at how beautiful the Hall is. When you hear community Center this is not what comes to mind. Spacious, a medium level of luxurious, and we'll kept bathrooms. There is also parking available for events. Well done to the proper owners or management in investing properly in the space.
