Rockland Pulmonary & Med Associates reviews
6Get this, if you haven’t been here in 3 years, you’re considered “a new patient”. “New patients” can’t be seen the same day despite being sick. The receptionist explained your name and number go to another dept and they create a profile and the “new patient” gets a call within a week for an appt. Totally defeating the purpose of going to the dr for being sick! What a massive miss this practice is!
I have been a patient here for 9 years and have seen the situation decline over that time. If you call, they do not answer. If you leave a message, frequently it takes days to get a response if you get one at all. The office staff is always very apparently stressed out and often unfriendly and impatient. After multiple attempts to make an appointment over the phone with no call back received for weeks, I went into the office to do so, only to be told that I needed to call to make an appointment because they could not help me at the reception desk. How is that possible? When I did call, I was routed to a voicemail and waited days again to receive a call back. I am so frustrated to be stuck in this impossible loop and feel badly for anyone who is sick and dealing with this. If you need anything more than a yearly physical that you do not need to reschedule, I would think twice about this practice.
I have only continued to go here because I finally found a PCP that takes my issues seriously (however she was smart enough to leave the practice) and I have also been seeing my pulmonologist for 8 years now. With that said, I am currently searching for a new practice to go to. For the last two years I have had to jump through hoops and even show up to the office in person just to get questions answered or prescriptions refilled. The front desk staff is rude, doesn’t return calls, and if/when they do answer a call all they do is transfer you without information as to what is happening. As someone with asthma trying to receive pulmonary care, this is beyond unacceptable. I’m not even sure how they are still running to be frank. The second I find a new doctor I’m leaving and never turning back, I wouldn’t stay going to this practice if it were free.
This is one of the worst practices I have ever been a patient of. I’ve given them multiple chances to prove me wrong and I’m always left disappointed. No one ever calls back or returns messages (not even when the manager (?) of the office said she would personally. I think her name is Laura?) ; and they never answer the phone so that I can schedule appts. One instance, I’d tried calling several times to schedule an appt and got so fed up with not being able to to reach someone that I went in person to schedule it. The final straw was a few days ago when I was trying to make a same day sick call appt. I was unable to go to urgent care, and was told I had to go to my regular doctor—it was that or go to the ER. I’m a cancer survivor, but have recently been experiencing pain similar to what I was feeling prior to being diagnosed. I wanted to get a referral for a MRI so I can make sure I am still cancer free, and figure out what my pain is. I spoke to the operator who transferred me to the desk that makes those appts. She said they check their messages daily. I left a couple of messages on different voicemail boxes. Needless to say, I’m STILL waiting for a call back for the SAME DAY appt that should’ve occurred on Weds! I would never recommend this practice to anyone! Going elsewhere.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would! It’s nearly impossible to get anybody on the phone. I have left messages for weeks and I consistently get an answering machine. I missed a call one time from them with no voicemail or call back number left, and after calling back 5 minutes later I still couldn’t get them! I’m a recently new patient and I will not be coming back, frustrating and awful experience!
After what I believe is almost 17years of going to this practice I am highly disappointed. I put a call in at 8: 17am and got a return call at 11: 35am that lasted just shy of 8 minutes. I was told that 1) I didn’t need an appointment for a medication refill when I was told yesterday I did and I should call first thing in the morning. 2) when asked to make a sick appointment with my primary for difficulty breathing I was denied this and told I have to make an appointment with pulminary…. I was transferred at the time to a Secratery voicemail. I did not get a return call until an hour before closing after my mom made a phone call. To which I was of course advised I couldn’t been seen today because it was an hour before closing and would try to have a doctor call me. I am still not sure why I was turned away from being seen for my primary, but I am completely flabbergasted as to why a person requesting a same day sick appointment was turned away especially before 12pm.
