Russ & Daughters reviews
14I was staying at a nearby hotel, so I happened to stop by and was surprised by how delicious the bagels were. I had salmon and cream cheese sandwiched between crispy onion bagels. I drank coffee in an I love NY cup and felt like I was in NYC. It was so delicious that I wanted to stay at a nearby hotel to come here!
I had a lox with sesame bagel, scallion creme cheese, onion and capers. The wait was about 20 mins during weekday lunch. It was kinda hard to take a bite as the bagel kept getting disassembled, but I enjoyed every bite of it. Loved Different textures in a lox bagel with saltiness and creaminess.
Got the lox on a sesame bagel with cream cheese. Washed in line for over 40 minutes. The bagel was just ok but the cream cheese was smooth and creamy.
We went for a weekend in NYC. This bodega was fantastic! Very busy but staff was friendly and efficient! Salmon and Locks Bagel was delicious! Would definitely recommend!
I ate their iconic Bagel/Lox/Cream cheese sandwich on 10/9/23. Since I enjoy BLC of any type, this sandwich tasted very good and went down easily. However, the bagel was a little too firm for my liking. If you ever make it to Southern California, try the same sandwich at places like Einsteins or Brueggers. Slightly breadier bagel that doesn't give your teeth such a work out when you bite into it. Sorry New York, this was just an average BLC for me.
It was pretty packed but went very quickly. Don’t forget to take a number when you come in. I got the Seinfeld special: cinnamon babka, chocolate babka, and a black and white cookie and they were all great!
Lived in NY for a little while as a kid decade's ago. This place reminded of my childhood. A throwback of a time forgotten.
The Scottish lox and scallion cream cheese bagel was amazing as was the caramel covered pecans.
The smoked fish is so fresh and the way they slice it fresh to put in your bagel is tantalizing to see.
I would definitely come here again.
Without waiting for a rainy day
Taste the salmon bagel
relatively less salty
it's good
The staff is friendly
ess-a has been removed from the top 3, and now it seems that this place is being exposed to Koreans with its long tradition and story as a weapon.
It's next to Katz Deli
Still, while I was here, I went out of curiosity.
There are 4 places so far, and I will probably stop by one or two more in the future, but I thought I could just eat for my own satisfaction.
It's not about superiority or inferiority, it's about each person's personality, and what suits my taste is better than whether it's too bad or too good.
I feel that way while eating
I was visiting NYC and saw Russ & Daughters while walking to catch the subway.
As a Jewish kid (73 years old) I thought I had stumbled into kosher deli Disneyland.
I bought bagels, cream cheese & lox for our hotel room. I was in heaven!
I plan to return to NYC just for more wonderful Russ & Daughters foods!
Tried the Classic Bagel & Lox Sandwich. It tasted really yummy! The shop seems popular and was teeming with people in the morning.
The quality of their product was exceptional, service was good however we had to ask for: pepper/salt, napkins & olive oil. For the price we paid, attention to detail should have been "spot on". We choose the "Ida" platter ($110) which included 4 varieties of delicious fresh salmon, cream cheeses, a nice selection of bagels & breads, onions, capers, and peppers. We added Potato Latkes with sour cream & applesauce! And if that wasn't enough, we tried the sesame ice cream with coffee. Next time, we'll just do the individual platters, a much better choice.
Tourist trap. I usually get my babka and rugelach in Brooklyn at places like Oneg. However, this time I needed something on a Saturday and decided to try chocolate babka and rugelach a Russ&Daughter. They should be embarrassed to sell those things because they’re less than mediocre. Everything dry and tasteless, rugelach is not even shaped right because it’s clearly mass produced to make cutting the pieces easier. Very expensive too.
