Russ & Daughters Cafe, New York NY

What we ordered (including the french toast and latkes) were amazing, however the bagels tasted just okay. I'm surprised that a placed known for bagels did not have a great bagel, but the other delicious items on the menu made up for it.

Eggs. Bagels. Salmon. Black coffee. One of the best breakfasts I always enjoy in NY. A visit to this place cannot be postponed.

The food was just ok, but it arrived fast and solved our bagel craving. I don’t think I’ll be back but it was good to do once.
Our waiter was super nice.

The first words that came to my mind when I walked inside were 'sterile' and 'kinda weird. ' It sorta had a hospital/psych ward feel to it with the staff wearing what looked like white lab coats and things being light colored. Because of the ambiance, it felt like we weren't allowed to talk while we waited to order.

The food came out fast, but the waiter was a bit slow with checking in/refilling waters. He dropped off the check and I immediately said "here you go" after laying down the card I had ready. He took the plates but not my card, so we had to wait until he emerged from his secret lab about 10 minutes later.

Food was good, but nothing that I will remember for future trips.

The bathroom was super nice and clean.

Excellent professional service with a smile, beautiful displays of bagels, fish, and canned products. We picked up two New York breakfast on everything bagel, a chocolate Babka, and some dried figs. We had no wait at all because we went at 9 AM on a weekday, pick your times carefully as they get very busy, but everything start to finish, was superb!

This is one of the few places in NYC where you don't have to climb a ton of stairs to get to the restroom. For me, that was a big plus. We got the platter, which seemed on the expensive side, but I thought it would be really good. The bagels were decent, although I really had higher expectations, and the nova and smoked salmon tasted very good. The smoked pastrami salmon was delicious. However, I can't give it 5 stars because it was farm raised salmon. The reason I know that, besides the way it looked, is that I had intestinal issues that night, which always happens when I eat farm raised salmon.

Superb! Perfect spot for the sunday brunch. Usually there is a queue, but you will be able to get in without a reservation in about an hour or so. Order chopped liver and potato latkas. Of course bagels are a classic

Delicious Eastern European Jewish fare ; lox, bagels, latkes. Herring aficionados take note: the herring trio was just outstanding! Comfortable and great service. The take out deli is up the block. You’ll surely want to go there to buy more after trying their food!

Great breakfast place but no advanced reservations. Expect to wait on busy weekend mornings.

I'm such a fan of this spot. Love the vibe. Love the service. Interesting and Delicious food options. Sit at the counter and enjoy.

Nobody here is talking about the hot smoke / cold smoke dip with everything bagel crisps or the matzo ball soup. Don’t sleep on them! I would go back just for the dip, I think about it all the time. The bartender was extremely kind and helpful. 10/10 will be back soon

Super tasty for a late breakfast. Food was great, no complaints!

However, if you are going to sit down I would recommend ordering something other than the bagel boards. Why? You can get the bagel and lox at their shop on Houston and sitting down at their cafe gives you an opportunity to try things you can't get otherwise. Their profit margin on that $22 classic bagel board must be pretty good, but bagels are made to be eaten on the go, so branch out and live a little!

This place is a classic and has the best latkes I've ever had. The service is always helpful and the location is full of old school New York charm. While you are there, try a shrub. They sound weird, but are so refreshing.

This place beats out Eleven Madison Park for the best meal I had on my recent trip to NYC. We waited outside for about 30 minutes. The vibes inside were so good, so cool. I ordered chocolate babka french toast and my friend got a lox open-faced sandwich. We were both so delighted with our picks and the service. We each took advantage of the post-cards they offer with the check and they were delivered this week! They've inspired me to try and replicate my meal at home and while I know it won't be the same, I'm excited to try.

Great spot for breakfast catch up with a friend in an intimate setting without it being too loud

Food is good, but service could be better. First, would be nice to provide opportunity to charge a phone for customers. This shows type of service.rather than explaining that I need to bring a charger from my home and stay with a dead phone. Thank you!

Second, when asking if everything is fine with the food, better to ask in an indirect way, rather than saying: „everything is good, isn’t it? “.

Third, isn’t it a good service to do payment with a handy Toast:)

For one time is ok, coming second time though no.

Food: The Classic Board - smoked salmon and sesame seed bagel, with cream cheese, tomatoes, onions and capers.

The salmon was delicious. Sliced beautifully thin. The toasted bagel had a crunch on the outside and was lovely and soft and chewy in the middle! All the ingredients were so fresh and tasty.

Drink: Cream Soda - sweet and refreshing.

Service: very efficient. The staff were all polite and friendly.

Don’t walk away if they tell you there’s a wait for a table. Put your name down on the waiting list and go to the pub next door. They’ll send you a text message when your table is ready. It’s definitely worth the wait!
