Saffron Fine Indian Cuisine, Middletown NY

Good restaurant. I like the mango lassi, and the curries are good too. I had a lamb one and my wife had a fish korma. Service is a little slow, but that is a minor criticism. In general, good food and a nice environment for a reasonable price.

Worst food ever. Lamb chops, super dry 4 pieces for almost $25, for chilli cheese they should start giving power-saw to cut it. Very hard cheese with little to no gravy.

Their biryani was amazing. Chicken curry was more sweet than anything and had no spice to it even though we ordered medium heat. What made me upset was 1- the tandoori was inedible because it tasted like pure fish. My husband and child know I have a strong dislike for fish. When I tried my first bite of the chicken they were staring at me then it hit me pretty instantly that the chicken tasted heavily like fish. Thank god I’m not allergic but why would you cook your food with or near seafood? I didn’t say anything and couldn’t because the waiter didn’t return until he started to take plates off of our table and asked if we needed boxes! The entire time we were there the waiters never once asked us if we needed anything else or a refill. The wait time was about an hour. We were going to order another biryani but instead of asking if we wanted anything else they asked if we wanted boxes. This kind of experience was a first for me with this restaurant usually I take out and spend hundreds as I did yesterday because we love Indian food but never again. The had a suggested tip of $17+ yeah right! They need better service and to not cook seafood alongside any other dish they’re offering because not only is it gross it’s hazardous to someone who may have allergies.

Amazing food and great service. Spicy means spicy and that is great. My only regret is not coming here sooner.

On our trip from Landers Narrow burg we were craving Indian food and was recommended this restaurant an extra 9 minutes of our route in middletown. We live in Long Island and definitely match the experience. The food was awesome. We order five plates for three people. Chicken Tikka, Paneer Tikka, Paneer Masala, White Rice and Butter Naan. The food was great. Our waiter Cyril was awesome and on top of the service. We ended up ordering more to go to share the experience we enjoyed.

Very horrible experience. We're the first to arrive, the restaurant was empty. We ordered before 3 different couples and were served last. We were waiting for our food for nearly 40 min, meanwhile everyone else got served first and even got second servings. They told us that our food was done and when he went back to the kitchen he came out with seconds for other patrons. We never received our food and decided to walkout and just pay for the one appetizer that took 20 minutes to come. To anyone who is a person of color you will probably be treated like a second class citizen like the others who reviewed before me. DO NOT GO I WISH I COULD GIVE IT 0 STARS.

Found insect in the water bottle and they never apologized for that. Took more than 1 hour only fr 1 item. Nobody came to take order.

I didn’t even ask much I just wanted my food to be more spicy because i didn’t know it was gona be sweet so I ask the server to make it spicy and they said to me u Should have said before. All other restaurants they do that but that was weird wasn’t happy with the service

I've been going here for at least a decade, post covid has made it not worth the cost. The food still taste great, but they have done away with the daily lunch special. That is understandable due to Covid, but it seems like this staple of Saffron is gone forever.

Aside from this, the pricing is going up and the portion sizes are smaller as well. Last time I ordered Samosa ($5), Lamb ($19) and Pakora ($8). The Somasa only came with 2 and the lamb dish was much smaller than even a few months ago. The Pakora price seemed to go up.

The food still taste good, but I can't justify the value / cost.

Worst restaurant never come here. Took 1 hour just to get our food. Cheap owners can’t spend their money on waiters and chefs.

With only 30 minutes left to close the restaurant, the owner was upfront about it yet accommodating. Very polite staff and hard working. Food was fabulous. Something I didn't get a chance due to short time to order and I will like to try next time is their chicken sizzler dish. When it arrived for another customer, it made the whole place aromatic. Food we ordered was authentic and I can tell it was made with care. Many times due to pricey and exotic spices, some restaurants cut corners to save money but from the taste I could tell this place did not cut that corner. Basmati rice was amazing and so was their daal makhani, baingan bharta. Butter rotis were fresh and with slight crispiness. Above all we enjoyed our experience because of the lovely owner who were engaging with every customer. Good bless them health and may they keep spreading their goodness through their good food.

Best Indian restaurant in the area. Ordered Amritshari fish, chicken 65 and goat curry with garlic naan. Mango Lassi was amazingly awesome. Food was really authentic Indian and delicious. Would love to visit again.

My husband an myself came to this beautiful restaurant and the waiters and servers were very polite. Met the owner as well who came over and introduced himself which was very nice as well. The food was AMAZING! When I express this is a spot where we definitely want to come and try new plates prepared by this kitchen because the food was ALL made with LOVE! Beautiful family setting, music playing, friendly staff, we’re definitely coming back!
