Sant Ambroeus West Village reviews
14 Had their food delivered many times, finally stopped by as a walk-in today, complete with baby, and they couldn’t have been more welcoming. It’s not really a ‘bring your baby’ kind of place, but our little birthday girl got her own plate of real pasta and a cake with candle rolled out at the end.
The food is even better on site than delivered, as you’d expect. Simple, fresh and well executed, as Italian food should be. Unpretentious but smart venue, service attentive but not overbearing. Oh, and the cake dessert was worth the trip alone.
The food is delicious here and the atmosphere is one of a kind. I strongly recommend trying them if you want some amazing food to eat.
Since 2016 I am visiting St. Ambrosus West V. And don’t know why I feel like this but like I was born in that lovely Italian restaurant. I live in Istanbul and that’s why I am used to mediterrenian and europen taste and in Usa I can not find original tastes and hospitality in restaurants, everything is so fake and ridiculous except Sant Ambroeus. When I visit that cozy restaurant; I find original Italian taste and hospitality. Everyone is so kind. Everything is perfect. Even I go without reservation or a laat call, they try to do their best unlike other restaurants.
The true Italian experience in the West Village! An amazing place to go and enjoy a beautiful New York summer day!
1st time. Nice space and service was bit slower than expected, especially since it was an early seating. Salmon was tasty.
Super buona. Closest thing to true Milanese food I've found in NYC (da vero) The vitello tonnato was my favorite of everything we ate. My table also split 3 pastas, each was really good. I think I preferred the vongole the most. Had a perfect negroni, a very well priced nebbiolo and finished everything of with a glass of Braulio. The tiramisu was fantastic and the principessa cake reminded me a bit of the cake from Marchesi (almost). Highly recommend.
The avocado toast with poached egg changed my life, literally. Before this, I never ate eggs with runny yolk and since then, I’m OBSESSED with poached eggs. The bread is delicious with pepitas on the crust. The avocado smash smeared on the bread is the perfect amount with the poached egg sitting on top. There’s a tomato/pepper giving it some spice. Definitely recommend.
I really liked this cozy beautiful place delicious desserts, nice staff) very romantic and atmospheric
This is a really cute and cozy place. You can have a coffee, a cocktail, a dessert or take a table and eat a meal. I like the interior design, a mix of modern and old fashioned cafe. It really has that italian vibe. I like the treatment we had and even if it should be like this everywhere, not always happens. When we ordered two glasses of Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta the bartender opened a new bottle and asked if we want to try it before. I really appreciated it a lot! The cakes were good too. Bravi!
Ordered the Sogliola di Dover and asparagus. Very tasty and well prepared but the prices are the real downside - not very affordable. Ok for a business meal but likely not for a normal private function.
I arrived early to write before meeting a friend who recommended it for the first time and was blown away by how it captured the friendly, intimate warmth of the Village with the clean freshness of a new build. The service and food delivered on par as well. Delicious Gluten free pasta options didn't feel like settling. You just can't beat the elegant, cozy ambiance with top calibre cuisine. A new go-to!
Very satisfied with this place, excellent food, great service. Our waiter Denis was very nice and attentive. The gianduia is the best desert in NY! Amazing place! Definately comming back.
Abel and Mari Kriss professionals in their field, they are fashionistas, they brought us an exceptionally beautiful chechir!
